Chapter 25: Chapter 25
Luciano bowed, then explained everything that had happened concisely. Glancing at Luan to see his reaction, but contrary to his expectations, Luan flashed a grin.
"Perfect, I was hoping there would be some thugs in this forest. But finding them so soon is a stroke of good luck." Luan replied; now he knew why he couldn't see Torg: it had followed the bandits.
"Quickly load up all the corpses in the chest, then we'll wait here until Torg returns and wipe out some bandits." Luan ordered, walking toward the corpses.

Kian looked at Luan, eyes wide. "My lord, you don't mean the chest your parents left you, right?" He asked, looking around nervously, hoping Luan would say no.
Luan rolled his eyes. "What other chest could I possibly be talking about, Kian? Of course it's that one; otherwise, we won't be able to take all the corpses with us."
Hearing that, Kian gasped, "But that's an artifact, and a spatial one at that. Why use something so precious to store corpses? Leave a couple behind; what does it matter?" He pleaded, hoping Luan would change his mind.
"Why Kian? I need to use everything at my disposal to the fullest; why would I waste such an artifact? Letting it collect dust in my room?" Luan asked, raising an eyebrow.
Kian composed himself. "My lord, that's an artifact that Madam Meskevela gifted you to use. You should treat it with care and respect, not use it to store monster corpses. Leaving a couple corpses behind is a perfectly reasonable trade-off," he said, looking Luan dead in the eyes.
Luan just sighed. "That perspective would make sense if I didn't need so many funds to start my business. When that is set up and I have acquired the necessary funds, I'll think about changing my ways to more conventional ones." Luan said, turning toward all the servants, and he looked at them one by one.
"See, this is what I need. Servants that don't just follow orders like yes-men. But they have opinions and aren't afraid to talk back to me." He stated with a smile.
"But that, of course, doesn't mean I'll listen to that idea or opinion. So what are you all waiting for? Start filling up the chest." Luan said, laughing.
Kafele rolled his eyes at Luan's over-the-top performance, but he was glad. Normally nobles don't tolerate talking back or servants suggesting other ideas. But Luan didn't only not mind it; he also welcomed it.
Ava and Samantha glanced at each other and giggled; their lord was rather quirky, but they didn't mind; by following him, they were sure they'd get to see lots of new and interesting things.
Kian sighed; he couldn't change his mind. Well, at least he tried; he sent a quiet prayer to Hana. Hoping she wouldn't mind Luan using the artifact she had given him like this.
They started loading all the corpses in the chest while making small talk, and Luan had grabbed a chair and was seated on top of the wall waiting for Torg to return so he could earn some more funds real quick.
A huge grin plastered on his face, only thinking about how much he could earn from looting the bandits was enough to improve his mood significantly.

The three masked men walked through the forest, each carrying a hobgoblin on their backs. "Maybe we should've just left them there and alerted the boss of the place." One of them said, huffing and puffing.
The other two nodded, just as exhausted as the first one; they had grossly underestimated how much these things weigh, and because their base was quite a distance away, they were drenched in sweat.
But finally the base was in view. Shouting to get the attention of the guards, they were relieved when they saw them running toward them.
"What happened?" one of the guards asked, but when he saw the hobgoblin corpses, he froze, not believing his eyes.
Hobgoblins were serious threats unless you were a noble with a powerful lineage and awakened a powerful sigil, or a trained knight. Most bandits would barely be able to beat one in a two versus one.
But these new members had brought back not one but three of those corpses? He looked at them suspiciously.
One of the men carrying a hobgoblin cleared his throat. "We found a goblin settlement wiped out and decided to grab the most valuable corpses. There are still lots of goblin corpses lying there."
The guard's mouth agape, "Are you guys retarded? Who could beat that many goblins and three hobgoblins on top of that? Think before you act." Facepalming, the guard looked around nervously, searching for anyone that might have been following the trio of retards.
Luckily it looked like they weren't followed; sighing, the guard signaled for them to quickly enter. "Open the gates, hurry up!" he shouted toward the man standing on the inside of the gates.
"Shut the hell up and wait, bastard!" he yelled while yanking the gate open.
Once inside, the guard led them toward the boss's house. "Tell him everything you saw and hope you weren't followed, or you're going to suffer." the guard said, leading them toward a large house in the center of the base.
Leave the corpses outside and enter; I've already briefed him. So you can enter without worry; it's the first room on the first floor where he's waiting.
The trio gulped in unison, glancing briefly at each other. Then they slowly entered the house, making their way toward the first floor.
Knocking on the door, they waited patiently for the signal to enter.
"Come in." They heard a raspy voice say; they recognized this voice anywhere; it was the boss.
Opening the door, they saw a muscular man sitting on a luxurious chair; he had short blue hair, a long black beard, and blue eyes. Wearing the same uniform as them, only without a mask. On each side of him stood a beautiful woman wearing a white dress.
