Chapter 29: Chapter 29

All the bandits swarmed toward the southern gate, and after opening it, they only saw a single handsome youth sitting there. The man that had opened the gate grasped his sword tightly and charged straight at Luan.

It was do or die for them; two of the gates were blockaded, and at the other gate stood a butler that slew everyone that came close, and now here sat a simple, handsome youth. It was clear which option was the best.

Charging straight at the youth, he slashed downward with a grin on his face. This youth was way too cocky; he didn't even react after the man was mere inches away from him.

But then the man's vision changed; he saw the sky and wanted to shield his eyes from the sun, but nothing happened. He tried a couple more times, but he couldn't feel his hands at all.

"What's going on?" He shouted, and then his head fell on the ground, and he saw his body holding the sword; then the realization hit him.

At some point in time, he was beheaded by the youth? He looked blankly at his body and drew his last breath.

All the bandits stood there frozen; no one had seen the youth move, nor had they seen anything. They all glanced at one another, the panic on their faces evident.

Then as a collective, they charged at the youth, all of them at the same time.

The stampede of bandits rushed forward, and Luan just smirked.

"Now this is fun," he stated, showing a toothy grin, and heads started rolling left and right as Vira was shooting invisible cutting edges.

Luan, on the other hand, held two katanas in his hand made of water and merged with lightning and charged forward, beheading one bandit after the other.

Lumi and Mara looked at their master; Lumi was emitting feelings of joy and excitement, and Mara quietly watched her master murder hundreds of humans with a smile on his face.

While he was killing one bandit after the other, he felt his heart pounding in a rhythm not his own; it was as if joy itself had seeped into his veins, igniting every nerve with an exhilarating buzz.

"Hahaha, how's that? How does it feel to be cut down like you're vermin?" Luan shouted, still in the midst of bandits cutting limbs, heads, or even slicing whole bodies in half.

His once clean clothes were now soaked in blood, and his blue katanas were now a deep red.

After what felt like hours of slaughter, Luan placed his katanas into the ground and took a seat. His body was exhausted; cutting down so many people took a serious toll on his body. He looked around him, and he saw pure carnage.

There were bodies strewn everywhere. And limbs and heads, the grass became blood red with all the blood flowing everywhere.

With a satisfied expression, he looked at Lumi, Mara, and Vira. Signaling for them to come to him, Lumi and Vira immediately landed on his shoulders and started rubbing their heads against his cheeks.

"Great job, you three. And Torg as well, of course, but he is still with Kafele to make sure no one escapes."

While Luan was cutting down hundreds of bandits at the southern gate, Kian kept a close eye on Gandar, feeling like he had seen him somewhere before.

"Luciano, go help the lord." Kian ordered not to let Gandar out of his sight.

Luciano nodded and promptly left and started trimming down the bandits at the back while Luan faced the majority.

Staring each other down, Kian glanced at Eleonora and the other woman. "Were you forced? Or are you accomplices?" he inquired, looking at Gandar and stroking his beard.

He couldn't place him; he was certain he had seen this robust man before. Shrugging, he decided not to worry about it. He would die today anyway.

The two women looked at each other, unsure of how to answer; at first they were captured, but later on they fell in love with Gandar and even started helping him run the gang.

Kian sighed, "I guess I have my answer." He muttered, vanishing from sight. A second later, two ear-piercing screams were heard from behind Gandar.

Turning around panicked, Gander saw Kian holding two heads of the two women that had helped him tremendously, and a primal rage erupted from Gander.

He didn't care anymore; he just wanted to tear Kian into pieces and feed him to wild animals. All his muscles swelled up.

Glaring at Kian, he screamed. "You're dead!" And with that, he grasped his sword tightly and charged straight at Kian.

Who just looked at Gandar with pity in his eyes, 'A bandit caring this much about his comrades. What a joke.' He spat on the ground.

Standing completely still, he waited for the perfect opportunity to strike and behead Gandar. While he was enraged, he also lost his bearings and reasoning. Killing people in this state is a piece of cake compared to when they are being rational.

Gandar arrived in front of Kian in what felt like a split second and thrust straight at Kian's head, hoping to blow it to smithereens.

But he felt like he had hit a shadow; the sword fully pierced Kian's head, but nothing happened—no blood, no explosion, nothing. It was almost as if Kian was not a human but a ghost wearing human skin.

The aftermath of Gandar's full power strike was immense; the shockwave was blowing away everything in its path. The houses of the bandits were now reduced to nothing more than rubble.

However, Gandar didn't care about that right now. Looking around frantically, he wanted to find Kian and cut him into hundreds of pieces of flesh.

"Not a bad strike." Kian slowly said, articulating each word slowly and clearly, taunting Gandar.

But Gandar could hardly hear him; he only felt a dagger pierce his head. It started at his right ear and exited through his skull on the other side.

He turned slowly, gritting his teeth, and glared one last time at Kian, only to fall lifelessly to the ground.
