Chapter 28: Chapter 28

Standing behind a tree, the four were all looking at the bandit's base. "So Kian, were there any other exits?" Luan asked.

"Yes, my lord. They're very shrewd; they have an escape path in every major direction: north, south, east, and west." Kian replied, stroking his beard.

Luan, deep in thought, needed to come up with a good plan to fully wipe out these bandits; he couldn't let any of them escape.

"We need a way to make sure they don't split up and just run away, but how?" Luan muttered, then he looked at Torg and smirked.

"Kian," Luan called out.

"Yes, my lord?" Kian replied, looking at Luan.

"Can you, Kafele and Luciano, keep them busy for a while? Then I will sneak around and build a small wall in front of two of the gates to make sure they can't use those to escape." Luan proposed, looking at the trio.

To see if any of them might have a better idea or if this would be the plan.

Kian stroked his beard, looked at Kafele and Luciano, and did some mental simulations, then with a bow he said. "It should be doable, but you need to make sure you do it fast enough. We don't know how many bandits are inside, and you are our mage."

Luan smirked, "I can form the two walls at the same time. I'll do one and Torg will do the other so you don't need to keep their attention for long. After that I'll attack from the opposite direction." He said, pointing at the gate right in front of them.

The trio nodded and made their way toward the other side of the encampment, then, without waiting, they barged through the gate. Kafele used his sword, enhanced by his sigil powers, to cleanly cut the gate in half.

After the gate fell down, they saw what looked like a small village; Kian awkwardly scratched his chin. An exhausted sigh escaped from his mouth.

"It seems we underestimated how many members they have," he stated, shrugging.

"Kafele, you stay here and cut down anyone or anything that tries to leave. You heard the lord: not a single soul will escape today." Saying that Kian and Luciano vanished without a trace, both using their sigils to the fullest.

Meanwhile, inside the camp, Gandar was seated outside, watching the trio of retards corpses pierced on long spears to set an example for the others. Looking around, he grinned. "Think before you act!" he shouted.

All the members around him gulped and shouted. "Yes, boss!" in unison.

"Boss! The northern gate has been breached, and a man in, um, a butler uniform is standing in front of it!" A guard shouted, running toward the boss.

Gandar raised an eyebrow. "A butler uniform, you say?" And he remembered that the trio had come from the southern gate, so it could, of course, still be related, but why would knights wear a butler uniform?

He was confused, but even though he had no idea what was going on, he still issued orders efficiently: "Open up all the gates, grab the important treasures, and split up! Go toward the secret meeting point; I will see you all there," he ordered, grabbing his sword and running back toward his house.

Kian and Luciano stood atop opposite houses; looking around, they saw the walls Luan had erected and that he was waiting in front of the southern gate. With a nod, they vanished once more, appearing in the midst of the bandits that were frantically grabbing their weapons and treasures.

Making their way toward one of the three gates, because at the northern gate there lay tens of copses all cut down by the man in a butler uniform. The first couple of victims had underestimated him.

Mocking him for his attire, they had leisurely walked toward him, but before they could react, he had been beheaded; the man with a stoic face cut down any and all bandits trying to exit the camp.

Kafele sighed, "I was hoping for more of a challenge; these guys are just your typical thugs—no skill and no brains."

Looking in front, he saw a group of multiple bandits slowly approaching. 'Finally a challenge,' he thought, but then all five of them were beheaded at once, and he saw Kian appear behind them.

He slashed his dagger through the air, making all the blood fly off of it. Then he looked at Kafele, "Be careful, the boss called Gandar is no pushover; if you see him, make sure to call for backup." He cautioned, disappearing right after.

He kept killing bandits; the bandits who got beheaded by him weren't even aware how they had died.

After tens of bandits died, like the bandits started panicking, and they stopped caring about their belongings, rushing toward any of the three gates where the butler wasn't waiting for them, but when they opened the eastern and western gates, they couldn't leave.

A sturdy earthen wall stood in front of it, and all the bandits rushed toward the northern gate, hysteria spreading throughout the camp, Gandar, who was waiting inside his house on the second floor.

Was watching this all biting his fingernails; he seemed to remember someone with a fighting style like that.

"Why the hell is he here? The personal guard of the first lady. Why would he show up now?!" He shouted, looking around frantically, trying to find a way out.

Glancing at the two girls behind him, Eleonora meekly asked. "Meskevela household? Isn't that your previous employer?" also looking out the window.

Gandar nodded, "That's right, I was a knight for the Meskevela family. And that guy Kian is the personal butler and bodyguard of the first lady. But I was just an intermediate knight, so they shouldn't have gone looking for me."

"And they shouldn't know I'm now the leader of bandits. So I'm not sure why he is here." He finished.

The other woman then said. "Behind the southern gate is someone waiting, but he is just sitting there. Ah! Kian bowed to him earlier."

"What? Is it a beautiful woman?" Gandar inquired, unable to keep up his tough front; he needed a way out now, so what use was his tough bandit persona?

"No, it's a handsome boy. With long golden hair and green eyes," she said quickly, describing the young man.

"Long golden hair? Green eyes? None of those traits match the Meskevela traits. What the hell is going on?!" Gandar grabbed his head, unable to process what was going on.

He just wanted to live his life freely, and that's why he quit as a knight for a prestigious house like the Meskevela and became a bandit.
