Sigil Online: I became the duke's third son-Chapter 6 - 0
Chapter 6: Chapter 06
Time flew as Luan and Kian sorted through stacks of papers, contemplating who he wanted to question and who he would not hire was a draining task. But he had to take it seriously; this was the important first step to his second chance at life.
Luan sighed heavily as he leaned back in his chair. "Almost done with the document screening, then it's just questioning, and I'll be finished." He muttered, twirling his fingers through his hair.
"Well done, young master." Kian remarked, standing up and positioning himself right behind Luan.
Luan looked up at Kian. "Did you find any good ones?" he asked.
"Well, yes." Kian said as he placed a single document on the desk in front of Luan.
Luan immediately shot up and looked at the document Kian had placed there; if Kian vouched for it, then it must be great.
But when he read the name at the top of the document, he was dumbfounded. 'So I was worrying for nothing. Well, this is great as well.'
Carefully scanning over every detail on the document, something clicked. "So that's why I can never hear you leave or arrive, huh, Kian? But you're right; this one is hired for sure."
Kian looked at Luan, wanting to say something, but he kept his mouth shut.
Luan just turned toward Kian. "Speak your mind; this is important. I don't want yes men around me," he stated.
"Shouldn't you think this through more carefully before appointing me so quickly?" Kian cautioned.
"I don't think so, Kian. I trust my judgment and Hana's judgment as well." Luan said, a grin appearing on his face.
"Why are you grinning like that, young master?"
"Well, I was wondering if Mom would allow me to choose you, but now I don't have to worry about that anymore. Ah, what a great day it is today." Standing up, he looked Kian dead in the eyes, extending his hand.
"Now it's your decision, Kian. Do you want to become one of my personal butlers?" Luan inquired.
Kian felt the earlier aura appear again and could barely stay on his feet. 'He really is extraordinary; well, after serving the madam for so long, why don't I change my master?'
Taking Luan's hand, they exchanged a firm handshake. "I graciously accept your offer, master."
"Good, good. Very good." Luan couldn't hide his excitement anymore, cracking a huge smile and retracting his aura.
"You can go and let Hana know and take all the rejected ones with you; let Hana send them home or put them to use somewhere else. I will take a short nap." Luan declared, lying down on the ground and closing his eyes.
Kian bowed politely and picked up the documents; walking past the knights, he gave them a quick glance. "Don't let anything happen to the young master. I'll be back after a while."
And he disappeared without a trace, arriving in front of Hana's room. He knocked three times.
"Madam, it's me, Kian. I come bearing news about the young master."
"You may enter, Kian."
Hearing his cue, Kian slowly opened the door and entered the room holding all the papers.
"Is it good or bad news? And are those the rejected ones?" she inquired as she sat at her desk with Drago sitting opposite her, both doing paperwork.
"Yes, these are the rejected ones and something else. Young Master Luan has decided to choose me as his first personal servant."
When Hana heard that, she just smiled. "So he has a good eye for people as well."
Drago, on the other hand, was surprised. "You gave him the option to choose Kian? Isn't that playing favorites too much?"
Hana just snorted, "So what? He's my son, and Kian was my butler before I even met you. And for the other servants, I did not use any of the Meskevela household's resources. Don't think I don't know that you helped the others with the servant selection while we had agreed to not use any of the household's resources," she snapped.
Drago wanted to retort but couldn't come up with anything to retort with, turning to Kian. "Do you want to become Luan's butler? If not, I can offer you a job."

Hana narrowed her eyes at Drago's words. "He has accepted Luan's offer; drop it, sweetie," she demanded.
Kian gave a polite bow. "It is as madam said; I have accepted the Young Master's offer, and I came here to let the madam know that I won't be her personal butler anymore."
"I understand, but why would you decide that so rashly?" Narrowing his eyes, Drago looked at Kian. "Did he impress you? OR are you just doing it because he is Hana's son?"
"I will refrain from answering that, sir." Kian replied.
"Fine." Drago sighed, then turned to Hana. "Don't go overboard, please; the other two are already feeling inferior because they can't provide as much support to their sons as you do. I'm not telling you to stop, but keep it on the low so they don't try and sabotage Luan."
Hana, who was still glaring at Drago, sighed. "Alright darling, I'll make sure to not make it too obvious so those two feel threatened."
Turning towards Kian, her gaze softened. "Thank you for everything, Kian. Please take good care of Luan for me. I have a feeling he will cause you a lot of trouble."
Kian just smiled, wiping a tear. "That's expected; he is your son, madam. You were also a huge troublemaker in your younger years," he said.
Hana's ears turned slightly red. "We... we don't talk about that. That was decades ago."
Drago's mouth was agape; his perfect wife has been a troublemaker in her younger years? What?
"Kian! You must tell me the details on Hana's past someday; that's an order." Drago exclaimed.
"No! Absolutely not, you will never hear about that side of me ever, darling!" Hana shouted, her face turning as red as a tomato.
Meanwhile, Kian quietly left the room, closing the door softly behind himself, leaving the lovebirds alone.
"I'm glad that little tomboy found a good husband in the end," he mumbled as he made his way back to Luan's side.
