Single Spell Sorcerer-Chapter 115: Critical Spots
Chapter 115: Critical Spots
Jax and Lucille remained behind to see how Ning was going to deal with the Cinder Ant.
Jax was ready to move, to save Ning should he need that help. However, given how strong he knew the man to be, he was more or less relaxed at the moment.
Ning arrived next to the Cinder Ant and suddenly dug his spear into the ground. Then, he vaulted over the ant, using that opportunity to attack one of the 3 spots that would be on its body.
The first one was on its back.
Ning immediately spun his body in midair, and stabbed downward at the ant, striking precisely on the first of the 3 critical spots on the ant’s body.
Ning landed on the other side of the ant, while the ant groaned in pain. The critical spot wasn’t just an arbitrary spot on the monster’s body, but rather one of its weakest points.
Upon landing, Ning quickly turned and struck the side of the monster with his spear. The spear slammed the ant upward, revealing its underbelly.
Ning frowned. The second spot wasn’t there. ’I could see it earlier from the front though,’ he thought.
’Not on the back, or its underbelly,’ he thought. In those cases, it was usually around the joints. It was hard to find those spots, since the monsters would have to lift their limbs first before attacking, and in this case, it liked to use its mandibles more than anything.
Ning took a step back and used a spell to make himself faster.
He dashed back toward the ant, dodging at the last second before stabbing it on one of its joints. He pulled the spear back, dodged another attack, and immediately went for the next joint.
From the outside, Ning’s movements seemed so simple. It was no different than watching a dancer on an empty stage, giving it their all. The ant barely even existed.
"That’s the second one!" Ning thought the moment he heard the notification. Now, he had to search for the last one.
He went through the rest of the joints and when the ant didn’t die, he had to search for more.
’So damn hot,’ he thought as he got away from the monster. The damn Cinder Ant was a walking hot coal. The heat radiating off it was enough to make one feel as though they were standing above a pot of boiling water.
’Where’s the last one?’ he thought, searching through the ant’s body.
He continued dodging its attacks while searching for it. He could continue to fight, but that would be meaningless as none of his attacks would deal the slightest bit of damage because of his restriction.
As the Cinder Ant came chomping on him with its wide mandibles, Ning saw the last one again.
’There it is!’
He stabbed the ground just before the ant with his spear, and when the Cinder Ant came right next to it, he flipped the entire thing up.
The ant rose up on its hind legs, showing its underbelly again. Ning had already searched through its underbelly, but he wasn’t searching for that. There was another location right next to it that had been hidden from the other side, but visible from the front.
As he saw from the start, the last critical spot was on its neck.
"There we go!" ƒгeewёbnovel.com
He flipped the spear in his hands and before the ant could come back down, he stabbed it. His spear perfectly went through the neck of the ant, hitting the weak spot dead in the center.
The ant simply glowed white at that point, dead from that single strike.
4 Opal stones floated out of the corpse.
Jax and Lucy walked up closer, looking at the corpse of the monster.
"You made it look quite easy," Jax said, even though he knew for certain that this wasn’t as easy as it looked at all.
"It was easy," Ning said. "It’s a good thing I found one that wasn’t so agile, or it would’ve been difficult for the current me."
Jax shrugged. He pulled out his daggers and began breaking into the monster and pulled out parts from inside of it.
"What are you doing?" Lucy asked. "Can you use those?"
"I sell these," Jax said, only then realizing something. "Right, you must want a cut of this as well."
The other party had been giving him everything to gather all by himself, so until now, he hadn’t had that dilemma.
Ning shrugged. "I don’t really need that many stones to begin with. I can kill some monsters to get what I need," he said.
"I have all the stones I could need," Lucy said, saying nothing else afterward.
Jax smiled a little. "Thank you," he said and continued gathering. Once he was done, he turned toward Lucy. "Where to next, Leader?"
Lucy shrugged. "Let’s go earn more stones then."
Jax showed them through the forest, introducing each beast they met and explaining each one in terms of what they were, what their weakness was, and what their strength was.
They came across a large mud slime with 5 opal stones floating deep within it.
Jax got curious. "Can you see its weak spots?" he asked Ning.
Ning walked in a little closer and shook his head. "Every slime seems to be the same in terms of the spots," he said. "It exists, but it constantly shifts around in its body. Hitting it in the weak spot usually means I have to be lucky."
Jax thought for a bit and nodded. "I’ll fight it then," he said. "We don’t even have to fight it really. I just need to drag the—"
"I’ll fight it," Lucy cut him off. "Since the slime moves so slowly, I can get away with my restrictions here."
Jax and Ning took a moment to nod and moved back.
"You’ll use a spell, right?" Ning asked.
Lucy nodded. "Don’t worry, this one is a rather simple one," she said and raised her hands.
She activated her spell, so now, all she had to do was wait for whenever it decided to randomly activate.
