Single Spell Sorcerer-Chapter 65: Defeating
Chapter 65: Defeating
The defensive spell made it impossible for Jax to get too close to his enemy, and also made his threads useless as the lightning bolts burned them away when they exploded.
He wasn’t sure if regular attacks activated it or not. One of the two times he had used it, he had been swinging at the man.
’One of two things has to be true though,’ Jax thought. ’Either the spell doesn’t activate when a weapon is used, or he has to constantly keep using that spell on himself.’
Just earlier, the young man had chosen to dodge his axe swing instead of taking it head-on to create another lightning explosion, so Jax came to understand just that much, if nothing else.
’Don’t jump in recklessly, and you will be fine,’ Jax thought. If he didn’t get too close, all he had to do was watch out for the fireball and arrows.
Since that was the case, Jax realized he had his own ranged weapon to deal with this situation.
He pulled out the strong bow he had gotten after killing that group of attackers in the forest and pulled out a few arrows. The sight of what Jax was doing immediately caused the young man to panic.
He instantly used Fireball, while grabbing around Jax’s leg to keep him from moving. The fireball came directly for his leg since it was the one thing that didn’t move.
Jax quickly grabbed onto the axe and did the only thing he could do in the moment. With the flat of the axe head, he swung at the fireball, destroying it in a fiery explosion. The heat and fire that came out of the fireball were enough to burn away a bit of his facial hair, but that was much more preferable than being hit by it.
The shockwave from the explosion was strong too, but Jax’s body was toughened up with a very strong Navi, allowing him to stay upright. His body ached, but he was otherwise fine.
Jax cut down the roots and picked up the bow, pulling on the arrow. The young man had been preparing his bow as well, ready to pull it when he could.
At the same time, the two of them let their arrows loose.
Jax turned around immediately, protecting his head, and felt the arrow stick in the side of his thigh. Pain shot up through his leg, but he turned around just in time to see the bolt of lightning that flew past his face and hit the corpse behind him.
The arrow had done its job and got rid of the defensive spell.
The young man hurriedly pulled out another arrow, at which point Jax ran toward him.
The young man had a look of panic, seemingly horrified at the thought of Jax catching up to him. When Jax saw that face, he was reminded of the smile.
He knew to be careful.
Before he reached too close, he immediately threw his axe at the young man.
The axe spun through the air a few times and landed on the young man. Immediately, another explosion of lightning occurred, the bolts flying in every direction.
Jax was certain at that moment that his hypothesis was correct. The young man had to continuously reapply the defensive technique to keep protecting himself.
Given how close he was at that moment, the young man would have no time to use his spell at all.
Jax instantly used his spell to completely wrap the young man from head to toe. At the same time, the young man used a spell as well, wrapping Jax’s leg in roots.
Jax had been ready for that, so the moment he felt the roots grab onto his leg, he pulled out two daggers from his inventory and cut into the thick pieces of wood, just until he could use his own force to tear through them.
It was hard, but not impossible for Jax to do so. His physical body was far stronger than a regular person to begin with.
The young man tried to move, but Jax arrived before him right away, tackling him to the ground. The chances of Fireball being used were low since it had just been used, but he still had to be careful.
Jax immediately stepped on his palms, keeping them from facing him.
"No, stop. I can—"
Jax punched him in the face so hard that he blacked out in a single punch. Jax didn’t stop there. He punched again, and again. Slowly, the young man’s face began caving in from the attacks, a large blood depression appearing on his face.
Jax still continued hitting.
The young man was only a sorcerer, so his physical body had little chance of surviving Jax’s onslaught.
Jax didn’t know how many times he punched the young man, but at some point, there was no face remaining. Everything from the young man’s mouth to his nose to his eyes had turned into one big mush.
Jax pulled back his hand and looked at his own fist. Wiping it away, he saw his skin stripped away from the surface. He slowly wiped the grime from his fist and looked down at the dead young man.
At some point, a small yellow bead had come out of his body.
Jax grabbed it, not knowing what it was. As he did, he heard a notification.
<You have received 1 Light Opal Stone> freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
Jax wasn’t sure how to feel about that. Light was a new element, but a single Opal Stone was going to do nothing for him at all.
He sighed and placed it into his Inventory.
Jax then took back the string, turning it into Navi. As it flowed back into his body, Jax searched around for his axe. Looking around, he found it after a short moment. It had flown to the side, outside of the boss’s area.
Jax thoughtlessly walked over to get it. The moment he did, he saw the ripple go around him and immediately realized what he had done.
"Shit!" he thought, but far too late.
The room was gone.
