Single Spell Sorcerer-Chapter 72: Victory
Chapter 72: Victory
Jax had never felt this strange sensation before in his life, and yet he somehow seemed to know that this was a part of him. His mood was a strange one. His mind felt void of any emotion in that moment, seemingly even pain failing to reach him.
He knew he was bleeding to death at that moment, and yet the thought of death wasn’t enough to worry him at all.
He walked away from the struggling boss, not even staying to watch if it could get out of the threads or not. He had yet to understand if the boss’s exploding spell would activate in the current situation.
It could likely use the axe spell, but the other one was still up in the air.
Jax walked over to his axe with a calm stride in his steps. He grabbed the axe and lifted it, noticing a distinct lack of weight. It was as if a chunk of the axe had somehow gone missing.
But the axe was still in one piece, aside from maybe tiny splinters around its edges.
’I’m stronger too now?’ Jax thought.
It made no sense to him what was happening, but it didn’t surprise him that it was happening. He did remember being in a similar situation in the past where his mind was clearer and he was stronger and faster.
’I was wounded each time,’ Jax thought, turning around. He wondered, was this all because he was close to death?
He had no spell or skill that could do such a thing, so the only answer was something that was related to neither. It had to have something to do with who he was before he came here.
’Am I really a human?’ Jax wondered. He was almost certain he was not. He looked through his inventory for a healing potion, but the one he had wasn’t meant to be drunk back to back.
The potions lost most of their effect when drunk in close succession. It would likely not help him at all.
Jax had lost too much blood at this point that he doubted he was even bleeding anymore. He should be dying right now, unable to do a single thing.
The fact that he was standing up at all was a miracle, let alone fighting. He still drank the potion, feeling it slide down his body. The cool energy emerged from his stomach, but it mostly hung around there.
There wasn’t enough blood in his body to circulate the effects of the potion throughout his system. Not only was the potion’s effect much worse than normal, it was also not working as well.
Jax could only pity himself at that moment and walk back toward the boss who couldn’t move at all.
"So," Jax spoke in a low voice. "The condition for your spell to activate is that you are targeted with a spell, huh? If I don’t target you, you can do nothing."
The boss growled and grunted in mindless fury to get out of the threads, but nothing it did could get it out.
"I am most definitely dying," Jax said. "Even though my mind is clear, I know that I am going to die soon. I am out of blood and my potions aren’t doing anything anymore."
There was one way to heal.
A way where he would be fully healed, with even limbs brought back had he lost them. All he had to do was move on to the next carriage. One apparently fully healed when they registered in a higher carriage each time.
However, there was still an entire day before anyone went there. Jax wasn’t sure he could survive for that long now that his healing potions were doing almost nothing.
"Well, maybe the ticket can help me somehow," Jax said, raising it high before coming down with a strong swing. The axe left a flash of light in the air, its movement unnoticeable to even Jax in that moment.
The single strike dug Jax’s axe deep into the boss’s skull. It wasn’t enough to cleave through the skull as the boss’s defense was still incredible, but it was enough to kill it.
The Kobold boss’s body glowed a soft white color as a message played in Jax’s ears and information showed up before him.
<Congratulations! You have defeated the Kobold Chief!>
Jax stepped back as items began floating out from next to the boss. A bunch of opal stones flew out of the boss’s corpse, along with a bunch of brown stones as well.
<You have received 20 Opal stones>
<You have received 4 Earth Opal stones>
<You have received the spell ’Spellbreak’>
A spell scroll came out of the dead boss as well, surprising Jax. He grabbed it, reading its name. He could somewhat understand what it did, but beyond that, he had no way of knowing.
He couldn’t even read the spell’s description due to his restriction.
Jax placed everything away since he had no time to waste on these things right then and instead looked up above at the slowly descending blue ticket.
As it appeared before him, he could see the incredible crystalline lustre of the ticket with 3 brilliantly shining star shapes in the middle.
<Congratulations! You have received a ’3-Star Ticket’>
<Congratulations! You have passed the ’Unending Maze’>
<Would you like to leave the ’Unending Maze’?>
Jax accepted.
Instantly, a burst of light surrounded him, and in the next moment he arrived in a place full of people. It was a large field of grass with people sitting all around doing nothing.
<Please remember, violence is forbidden in the transition region>
Jax read the notification and finally felt a sense of safety that he hadn’t felt in a long while. He stopped using the body fortification skill and felt his body grow incredibly heavy, while fatigue attacked his mind right away.
Without the skill, there was nothing to keep Jax standing at all.
So, before he even realized what had happened, he immediately dropped to the ground and passed out.
