Despite his vast number of Stars of Consciousness, there were certain skills he barely gave his attention. Somnambulism was one of these skills, and the reason was because he felt like he would never need it.

Somnambulism was a skill he got after he consumed the Veinweaver’s Dreamgrass and he got the title, Walker of Dreams and Nightmares. Somnambulism was a skill that allowed Corey’s body to battle and react to dangerous situations when he was unconscious or asleep.

With how unique and strange his mind was, one of the things he could not imagine happening to him was falling asleep and falling unconscious. Even if he was knocked out or he decided to sleep, his Stars of Consciousness would be able to take control of his body, and with time, he would wake up.

However, with the appearance of the Fog of Corruption of Maltheron, his main consciousness and his Stars of Consciousness had fallen asleep.

Such an ability terrified Corey to the core, and from the condition of the other warriors he could see in the distance, he knew that power that Maltheron used to put them to sleep was dreadful and powerful.

As Corey healed his body as quickly as possible, his eyes watched the battle between Maltheron and Eryndor, and Corey realized that he could not follow the speed of Maltheron as he attacked Eryndor.

Even when he entered his focused state, he could not keep up with Maltheron’s movements.

’If I was the one fighting him, I’d be dead in no time. Battling Mystic Beings as an Astral Being is still somewhat ’reasonable’, but battling Tier 7s and above as an Astral Being is just defying one’s imagination.’

Corey released a deep turbid breath as he felt the shattered and broken bones in his body heal themselves at a speed that would shock Maltheron, Eryndor, and any other elite Chosen.

Corey’s eyes shifted towards Divine and Melissa who were still asleep. He frowned, and then he glanced at the Nyxmare that was watching the battle between its master and Eryndor.

’If I try to get close to Divine and Melissa, the Nyxmare would notice me and it’ll definitely attack me. I can’t take such a risk.’

Corey shifted his gaze to Maltheron, and a pondering light flashed in his eyes.

’Nightmare fingers.’

He had not sensed it before, but Maltheron had Nightmare Fingers in him, and it was not just one, it was not two, and it was not three.

He had a whole five Nightmare Fingers in him, and a flicker of greed flashed in Corey’s eyes as he stared at Maltheron. However, two seconds later, he shook his head with a wry smile.

’I shouldn’t even think of involving myself at the moment. I would most likely die or suffer something worse.’

Corey turned his head and his eyes flickered when he saw his main reason for joining the raid against the Throne.

The Stairs of Ascension.

The Stairs of Ascension was entirely golden, and each step seemed to be crafted from a material that seemed to be a blend of polished gold and crystal. The stairs stretched endlessly upward, and it disappeared into the fractured sky above, a sight that was both mesmeriziing and intimidating.

The steps weren’t uniform or predictable. They varied in size and shape, with some wide and smooth while others were narrow and steep. Golden runes were etched into every step, and the runes emitted a soft, golden mist that swirled lazily around the stairs.

Surrounding the stairs was a field of shimmering light, like a golden veil that separated the stairs from the rest of the dimension.

The base of the stairs was anchored in a massive golden platform. Massive stone pillars flanked the base, and their surfaces were cracked and worn, yet still exuding an aura of timeless strength.

’It’s aura and size is truly massive and unique.’

Corey thought, and then he looked at the invisible formation barrier that isolated them.

’I need to find a way to escape this barrier and climb the Stairs of Ascension.’

Corey furrowed his brows in thought for a few seconds, and then his violet-blue eyes glanced at the Nyxmare once again. He groaned, and then he sat in a cross-legged position despite his injuries.

Just as he was about to think of what he should do and what plans he should make, his senses picked up on something, and he quickly turned to the temple. However despite turning back, he saw nothing with his Eyes of Dreams and Nightmares.

His eyes turned pure white, and then he saw it. A tiny dot which was slowly increasing in size a few meters in front of the Temple.

’A portal? But the formation is meant to prevent anybody from entering even if it’s by teleportation.’

Corey frowned, and he was not the only one that was taken back and confused by the appearance of the rapidly growing portal.

Maltheron and Eryndor paused their battle, and a strange silence engulfed the battlefield as the portal grew. Three seconds later, the portal was thrice as large as Corey.

A foot wearing a brown sandal stepped out of the portal. A second later, a female stepped out of the portal, and the portal closed.

The female was dressed in a long green gown, she wore brown sandals, and a wooden staff was in her right hand. She had snow white hair, green eyes, a beautiful and cute face, and a petite figure.

On her back was a pair of beautiful translucent wings which was similar to that of a butterfly, and the moment Eryndor saw this female, he spoke with a baffled tone.

"Auriel?"

Auriel turned and looked at Eryndor with a flicker of disgust and anger in her eyes, and then she muttered, "Eryndor."

"What are you doing here? And how did you get here?"

Eryndor asked, and Auriel raised her brows, "I came to make sure there are no deaths," Auriel paused, and then she looked around. When she saw the destruction and corpses around, her left eye twitched.

"But it seems I was too late… That’s a lot of coins that has gone to waste." Auriel muttered the last sentence she said softly, but Eryndor, Corey, and Maltheron heard her clearly.
