Sir, Please Sign Here to Get a Divorce-Chapter 130: Even Jealous of a Child
He looked at Serena Yardley, his gaze flickering, unable to answer her question.
’Has word of what happened gotten out?’
’But I clearly...’
"Julian?"
Seeing Julian Thorne’s terrible expression, Serena Yardley watched him, completely bewildered.
Julian Thorne quickly averted his gaze and said defensively,
"What could I have done? I didn’t do anything. Serena, don’t let your imagination run wild. It’s getting late, you should go home. Good night."
As soon as he finished speaking, he hurried upstairs.
Serena Yardley, "..."
’Why is Julian Thorne acting so strange?’
’But as long as he’s okay, that’s what matters.’ The thought of that old man coming to drag her back if he didn’t see her soon sent Serena Yardley hurrying home.
She had just stepped inside when she ran into the man walking down the stairs.
The "old man" looked at her, his face displeased. "What were you doing out so late at night?"
"I was too full, so I went out for a walk. I didn’t go far."
She walked over to stand in front of him, tilting her head back to look up at him.
"Are you still feeling sick? Do you want to go to the hospital?"
’This man clearly looks sick, yet he’s still trying to tough it out.’
’If he keeps pushing himself and something bad happens, what’s he going to do then?’p>"I’m fine."
Ethan Yardley took her hand and led her back to their room.
Perhaps because he wasn’t feeling well, he wasn’t in the mood for anything else, even though he had just gotten back from a business trip.
He took off his shoes, got into bed, and held the person in his arms, quietly falling asleep.
But Serena Yardley couldn’t sleep.
She kept glancing at the man beside her, thinking he was very strange.
’Normally, he wouldn’t be like this after a business trip. Is he really that sick?’
Serena Yardley reached out to touch his forehead.
Ethan Yardley opened his eyes and looked at her. "What are you doing?"
"I’m checking if you have a fever, but your forehead isn’t hot. How about I take you to the hospital first thing tomorrow morning?"
"No need. I went yesterday. There’s nothing wrong."
"If there’s nothing wrong, then why do you feel sick and why did you vomit? It must be a stomach problem."
Ethan Yardley reached up and pinched her little nose. "Serena is very worried about me."
Serena Yardley rolled her eyes at him. "You’re my husband. Who else would I be worried about?"
"Then let me hear you call me ’husband.’"
He coaxed, kissing her cheek.
’She used to always call him ’Uncle.’’
’And now, she calls me by my full name.’
’When will she ever affectionately call me ’husband’ all the time? That would be so nice.’
"Ethan Yardley, are you getting a little full of yourself? Give you an inch and you take a mile, huh?"
Serena Yardley puffed out her cheeks and reached up to pinch his face.
But his face was too thin; there wasn’t much flesh to pinch, and it wasn’t satisfying at all. In the end, she scratched his jaw, as if scratching a dog.
Ethan Yardley nuzzled into her neck. "If Serena’s giving an inch, it’s definitely an invitation to take that mile, right?"
He kissed her delicate shoulder.
Serena Yardley thought he was about to turn into a beast, and she had even prepared herself for it.
But the next second, the man just held her tighter in his arms. "Go to sleep. Good night."
Serena Yardley, "..."
’That’s it?’
Although she felt a little disappointed, she couldn’t show it. She could only lie in his arms and force herself to sleep.p>’What else could she do?’
’She’s a woman, she can’t be too forward.’
’Sigh!’
’Turns out she was the one left wanting.’
...
「The next day was a weekend.」
During breakfast, Ethan Yardley spoke up. "We’re going back to the old residence in a bit."
Serena Yardley asked him, "What for?"
"How long has it been since you’ve been back? Don’t you miss the elders?"
Serena Yardley muttered, "Something happened to Nina’s family. I want to go help her take care of Leo."
"What could possibly happen to the Thorne Family?"
Ethan Yardley looked at her.
Serena Yardley shook her head. "I’m not sure of the details, but Quinn Gardner is using the Thorne Family’s situation to threaten Nina and keep her from getting a divorce. If even Nina has no way to deal with it, it must be serious."
Ethan Yardley wanted Serena to stay out of Nina Thorne’s business, but after all, her life had been saved by Julian Thorne.
With her stubborn personality, there was no way he could persuade her.
He had no choice but to give in.
"Fine. You can go keep that kid company, but can you stay away from Julian Thorne?"
He was negotiating with her, not warning her like before.
Serena Yardley pouted and explained,
"How am I supposed to stay away from him when we’ll be under the same roof? You just don’t trust me. I’m with you now, I definitely won’t fall for anyone else."
"As for Julian, other than being grateful to him and seeing him as an older brother, I have no other feelings."
Ethan Yardley, "..."
Seeing her pitiful and aggrieved expression, he was truly at a loss with her.
But then he thought about the incident with Gabriel Galloway. He had wrongly accused her, causing her to miscarry and suffer immense pain and torment. Guilt washed over him again.
’Maybe I should trust her.’
’Instead of always being suspicious, afraid she’ll fall for someone else.’
Having thought it through, Ethan Yardley replied in a low voice, "Alright. I trust you."
Serena Yardley smiled and made a finger heart at him. "That’s more like it. A loving couple shouldn’t doubt each other. I trust you completely."
Ethan Yardley gave a faint smile. "Do you really trust me that much?"
"Of course. A man like you has no reason to lie to a little woman like me, right?"
Before, she didn’t have this kind of trust in him.
But the longer she was with him, the more secure she felt.
That sense of security made her realize that no matter how much she acted out, he would tolerate it, accommodate her, and always keep her by his side.
In Serena Yardley’s eyes, as long as she didn’t go too far, this man would never abandon her.
And they would continue on like this, until their hair turned white.
After breakfast, Ethan Yardley went to attend to his own business.
Serena Yardley went next door.
As she entered the house, she saw the little boy bouncing a ball in the living room.
She called out, "Leo, where are your mom and uncle?"
The little guy quickly picked up his ball. Dressed in an adorable little suit vest, he rushed toward Serena Yardley, tilted his head back, and said in a sweet, soft voice,
"Uncle went out early this morning. Mommy is making me breakfast. Have you eaten breakfast, Miss Serena?"
"I’ve already eaten. You go play for a bit, Leo. I’m going to the kitchen to help your mom."
"Okay~ I want to eat breakfast made by Miss Serena."
"No problem."
Giving the child a warm smile, Serena Yardley went into the kitchen.
When Nina Thorne saw her, she asked, "Serena, do you have other plans today?"
"I’m free. I just came over to keep you and Leo company."
"In that case, could you help me look after Leo for a bit? I have to go back to my family’s house."
There was trouble at home, and she had to go figure out what was going on. It wasn’t convenient to bring a child.
Once this was all over, she would find a preschool for him and get him started with his studies.
"Okay. Don’t worry, Nina, I’ll take good care of Leo."
Nina Thorne was naturally very comfortable leaving him with Serena Yardley.
She finished making breakfast, but without even taking a bite, she told her son to be good and stay with Miss Serena. Then, she grabbed her bag and quickly left.
Serena Yardley spent the whole day at home with the child, teaching him to read and write. When he was tired of studying, she took him out to play in the neighborhood.
By evening, Nina Thorne still hadn’t returned, so she decided to take the child back to her own house.
When Ethan Yardley got home, he saw Serena Yardley playing with the child on the sofa. He walked over and said sourly,
"Leo Grant, get up. You’re not allowed to climb on her."
Leo Thorne turned his head, looked at Ethan Yardley, and corrected him, "Mister, my last name isn’t Grant. It’s Thorne."
"I don’t care if it’s Thorne or Grant. Get off of her."
"No! I want Miss Serena to hold me. Miss Serena is like my mommy, she smells so nice."
The child said, happily snuggling into Serena Yardley’s arms and refusing to move.
His face full of displeasure, Ethan Yardley reached out to pull him away.
Serena Yardley snapped,
"Stop it! He’s only five years old. Nina isn’t here, so what’s wrong with me holding him for a bit?"
