Sir, Please Sign Here to Get a Divorce-Chapter 131: Can’t Let Her Get Pregnant Too Soon
Ethan Yardley hadn’t wanted to get worked up over a little kid.
But not only did the little brat want his wife to feed him during dinner, he also wanted her to give him a bath afterward.
This was unacceptable.
Already disgruntled, Ethan leaned back on the sofa and groaned, "Ughhh... I feel so sick."
Serena Yardley was about to carry the child upstairs for his bath when she heard the man’s sighs from the living room. Seeing his haggard expression, she couldn’t help but walk over and ask with concern:
"You’re still not feeling well?"
Ethan put on an act. "Mhm, I feel awful. I’m afraid I’m really not going to make it."
"Then you should go to the hospital right away!"
Serena sat the child down beside her, moved closer to Ethan, and took his hand. "Come on, I’ll go with you."
"I’m fine. I probably won’t die just yet. You go take care of the boy."
He pretended to be understanding.
"But you feel so awful. Come on, get up. I’ll take you to the hospital. We can just have Mrs. Miller look after Leo."
"Really, there’s no need. That little brat is more important. You go be with him. Don’t worry about me."
Ethan leaned back on the sofa. Though his words said not to worry, he looked like he was at death’s door.
Serena, "..."
’Looking at him,’ she thought, ’why does it feel like he’s become so childish?’
Beside them, Leo Thorne spoke up, "Mister, you’re not a very good actor. My uncle is way better."
Ethan shot him a glare.
Not the least bit scared, Leo Thorne rushed over to hug Serena Yardley’s leg and said in his small, sweet voice:
"Miss Serena, he’s faking it. Don’t believe him. Hurry and carry me to my bath."
Serena looked at Ethan.
Ethan guiltily averted his gaze, sat up straight, and cleared his throat. "Ahem, right. I was faking it. I’m fine. You can go give him his bath."
The sourness in his tone was obvious.
But Serena didn’t realize he was just being jealous. She was only worried that there might actually be something wrong with his health.
She turned to the boy beside her and said:
"Leo, how about we skip your bath tonight? We can do it tomorrow, okay? He seems to be really sick, and I need to take him to the hospital."
Leo Thorne pouted sullenly and glared at Ethan. "But he’s obviously faking! He just doesn’t want Miss Serena to give me a bath."
"But he looks really pale, and he barely ate any dinner just now. You saw that too, didn’t you?"
"Hmph!"
The little guy was angry. He crossed his arms and started ignoring her.
Serena was at a loss. She tried again, saying:
"How about this, Leo? Would you like to sleep with me tonight? You can go to your room now, and I’ll come over in a little while to be with you?"
The little guy was thrilled to hear that. He beamed at Serena.
"Really? Can I really sleep with Miss Serena?"
"Of course." 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"Okay, okay! But Miss Serena, you have to promise. If you trick me, I’m not going to talk to you ever again."
"I promise, Leo."
Satisfied, the little guy obediently followed Mrs. Miller upstairs to bed.
Ethan sat beside them, his face darkening.
"You’re sleeping with him, so what about me?"
’That Quinn Gardner,’ he fumed, ’doesn’t even take care of his own son, just sends him here to steal my wife.’
’It’s infuriating.’
"He’s just a kid. He can sleep between us. The bed’s huge, he won’t be in your way."
Serena got up and took his hand. "Come on, let me take you to the hospital to get checked out."
"Not going."
Ethan snatched his hand back, clearly angry.
An exasperated Serena looked at him, not understanding at all. "What’s wrong with you? You can’t be so petty as to have a problem with a little kid, can you?"
"It’s not that I can’t tolerate him. He’s five years old; why are you letting him sleep with you?
"No other man is allowed in my bed. Not even a kid."
He was adamant.
Suddenly, Serena didn’t know what to say.
’I never would have thought this man could be so jealous,’ she thought. ’To think he’d get this worked up over a little kid.’
’So childish.’
"Fine then, I’ll just sleep with him in the guest room. If you won’t go to the hospital, fine. I’m going upstairs."
Done arguing with him, Serena headed upstairs.
Ethan watched her leave, wanting to say something but stopping himself.
When he returned to his room late that night, Serena was, as he’d expected, not in their bed. He went to the room next door and found the boy and his woman fast asleep.
Moving as quietly as possible, he walked over, lifted the covers, and scooped his wife into his arms. After tucking the boy back in, he carried her back to the master bedroom.
The next morning, Serena woke up and was startled to find that the child wasn’t beside her.
"What the fuck!"
Her startled cry woke Ethan up.
He opened his eyes and looked at her. "What’s wrong?"
"Where’s Leo? Why isn’t he here? He didn’t run off, did he? Oh no, oh no, if he’s gone, how am I going to explain this to Nina?"
In a panic, Serena scrambled to get up.
Ethan reached out to press her back down, nuzzling against her ear and whispering, "He’s next door. I asked Mrs. Miller to keep an eye on him. He’ll be fine."
"Huh?"
’Next door?’
Serena looked around the room. This was the master bedroom.
’But last night, I was definitely sleeping with Leo in the guest room.’
’So he carried me over here?’
Serena glared at him. "Why did you carry me over here?"
"I can’t sleep without you," he murmured, his voice gentle as he kissed her forehead.
He glanced at the time. It was still early. He pulled her close, murmuring, "Let’s sleep a little longer."
There was no way Serena could go back to sleep. She sat up and said:
"You can sleep. I’m going to stay with him. I don’t want him to wake up, not see me, and say I broke my promise."
Ignoring the man beside her, she threw off the covers and got out of bed.
Ethan, "..."
Watching his wife leave him to be with another little brat, he felt as if life had lost all meaning. He lay there, staring blankly at the ceiling.
’And this is someone else’s kid,’ he thought. ’She’s already this dedicated.’
’If we have our own kid someday, won’t she pour her heart and soul into them and completely forget about me?’
Suddenly, it all made sense. ’I can’t let her get pregnant too quickly.’
’I’ll have to wait.’
’At least until she graduates from college.’
...
Not long after Serena returned to the guest room, the little guy woke up.
She helped him wash up and get dressed, then they went downstairs. After they finished breakfast, she took him home.
Nina Thorne had just gotten back.
As she entered the house, she saw Serena helping her son with his writing practice in the living room. She called out wearily, "Leo, Serena, have you two eaten breakfast?"
Serena looked up. "We’ve eaten. Nina, is everything with your family taken care of? Do you want me to have Ethan help you out?"
Nina Thorne gave a faint smile, her gaze soft as she looked at Serena. "It’s fine, it wasn’t a big deal. No need to trouble Ethan."
She turned and went to the restroom.
’Quinn Gardner had already helped her sort out the family matters.’
’As for her brother, he probably felt too ashamed to face them and had already gone abroad by himself.’
’Now that Quinn Gardner refused to get a divorce, she had no choice but to remain locked in this stalemate with him.’
When she came out of the restroom, Nina asked Serena, who was in the living room:
"Serena, do you have any... you know... at your place? Can you go grab a couple for me? I’ll go to the supermarket to buy more later."
It took Serena a moment, but then she realized what Nina was asking for. She smiled. "I do. I’ll go home and get them for you."
"Okay."
Serena hurried home. When she didn’t see Ethan, she assumed he had gone to the office.
She didn’t think much of it and went straight to a storage cabinet to get the sanitary pads.
As she headed back to the Thorne residence, a question suddenly popped into her head.
’I don’t think I’ve gotten my period this month.’
’It’s almost ten days late, isn’t it?’
Walking into the house, as she handed the sanitary pads to Nina Thorne, Serena asked her, "Nina, is it a bad thing if your period is late?"
