Sir, Please Sign Here to Get a Divorce-Chapter 160: Let Her Keep the Child
Serena Yardley pretended not to care, but she tossed and turned all night, unable to sleep alone.
The next morning.
She stayed in bed.
Ethan Yardley didn’t bother her, sitting in the living room and waiting for Yannick Young’s call.
It wasn’t until ten in the morning that Yannick Young called to report:
"Mr. Yardley, the doctor said the girl is in poor health. If she has an abortion, she won’t be able to get pregnant again in the future. The doctor told us to think carefully about whether to go through with it or not. The girl has been crying nonstop, and I can’t make a decision."
Yannick Young was pretty sure he’d figured it out.
’Is the boss really cheating?’ he couldn’t help but wonder.
Although he was shocked, as a subordinate, he didn’t dare say more.
Ethan, "..."
He thought the matter was settled.
He never expected it hadn’t even begun.
’She won’t be able to get pregnant again after an abortion?’
’Why is every woman around me so fragile?’
’Does this mean I have to let her keep the child?’
’If I let her keep the child, where does that leave Serena?’
Ethan raised a hand to his brow in anguish, completely overwhelmed.
"Mr. Yardley..."
Yannick called out again.
Through the receiver, Ethan could faintly hear Vivian Lynch crying.
Annoyed, he replied casually:
"Then don’t go through with it. Arrange a place for her to live and have someone take good care of her."
"Yes, sir."
After hanging up, Ethan was agitated and didn’t know how he was going to deal with Vivian.
From nearby, Mrs. Miller’s voice called out, "Miss Serena is up."
Hearing this, Ethan instinctively turned his head toward the stairs.
Serena Yardley came down in her plush slippers, a faint smile on her face. "Mm, what delicious food are you making today, Mrs. Miller?"
"It’s all food for your pregnancy. It might be a little plain, but it’s good for the baby. You should eat a lot, Miss Serena."
Mrs. Miller replied with a smile.
Serena acted as if she hadn’t seen the man in the living room and walked straight to the dining room to sit down.
But Ethan, feeling guilty, wondered, ’Did she overhear what I was saying just now?’
’We’re so far apart, she probably didn’t hear anything, right?’
He stood up, straightened his clothes, and followed her into the dining room, sitting down as well.
He took the initiative to place some food on her plate, asking with concern, "Serena, did you sleep well last night?"
Serena kept her head down and ate, not replying.
Seeing her ignore him, Ethan felt a strange knot of nervousness in his stomach.
Composing himself, he asked again, "What’s wrong?"
"Nothing. I slept great by myself. The bed is huge, perfect for me to toss and turn,"
she retorted sulkily.
’He knows I feel insecure and want him to hold me as I sleep.’
’But no, he just had to go and deliberately not sleep in the same bed with me.’
’He claims it’s because I’m pregnant and he can’t touch me, but who knows what he’s really thinking.’
Ethan could clearly sense Serena’s displeasure. To avoid angering her, he stopped talking and focused on his meal.
But Serena was never one to hold things in.
She was just so curious why this man wasn’t sleeping in the same bed with her.
Looking up, she met his gaze and asked directly:
"Ethan, do you think I’m useless now that I’m pregnant? That I can’t satisfy you anymore? Is that why you won’t come to my bed?"
Remembering how he had previously agreed to the abortion and divorce, she was convinced this man was hiding something.
Ethan met her gaze, his handsome face expressionless.
Yet he still replied with a straight face:
"I’m just afraid I won’t be able to control myself and might hurt the baby. Serena, don’t let your imagination run wild. I don’t think you’re useless."
"Even if you have needs, as long as you want to, I can help you.
"But why won’t you sleep in our room? When I wake up every day and you’re not there, it makes me feel so insecure. Don’t you know that?"
Unable to hold back her temper, Serena raised her voice at him.
Seeing that she was getting emotional, Ethan quickly stood up, went over to her, and pulled her into his arms, saying in a low voice:
"I’m sorry. I was being inconsiderate. I’ll be back in our room on time from now on."
"You’re making me feel like you’re disgusted with me. Ethan, can you please not be like Quinn Gardner? I’m scared."
She was afraid this man didn’t love her.
Afraid the child she was carrying wouldn’t grow up in a complete family.
And even more afraid that he had someone else on the side.
"I’m not disgusted with you. Don’t think about all that nonsense. Come on, eat your food while it’s hot."
Ethan sat down next to her and picked up some food with his chopsticks to feed her.
Serena stared intently at the man, tilting her head to avoid the food he offered. Unwilling to let it go, she asked again:
"You’re really not disgusted with me?"
His gaze was firm. "How could I ever be disgusted with you? You’re carrying the child I’ve always wanted. I can’t even dote on you enough."
"Then you’re not allowed to sleep in the guest room anymore."
"Okay."
Only after he agreed did she reluctantly open her mouth and eat.
As he fed her, Ethan said, "Do you want to go out shopping today? I’ll go with you."
"No. Can we just stay home?"
"Okay."
He agreed to her every whim.
...
Yannick Young took Vivian Lynch to another district and set her up in a high-end residential complex.
Before leaving, he told Vivian:
"You’ll live here from now on. I’ll arrange for a housekeeper to take care of you. Don’t disturb Mr. Yardley unless it’s important, and don’t go wandering around outside."
Vivian nodded quickly. "I understand. Thank you, Mr. Young."
Yannick didn’t say anything more, closing the door and leaving.
He shook his head and sighed. ’Why is the boss so into young girls?’
’Wasn’t Miss Serena enough?’
’This Vivian Lynch isn’t as pretty as Miss Serena, nor is she as interesting.’
’The boss’s standards have really dropped. To think he’d fall for an ordinary girl like Vivian.’
’Why do I get the strange feeling that our boss has been tainted?’
...
Once she was sure Yannick was gone, Vivian double-locked the door. Staring at the 500-square-meter luxury high-rise apartment before her, boundless greed surged in her heart.
’I really am so clever.’
’I just knew that man would be soft-hearted, that he’d blame himself and feel guilty. That’s why I spent a little money to bribe the doctor into saying I couldn’t have an abortion.’
’I still have to rely on this child and wait for that man to compensate me endlessly.’
’Maybe after a while, he’ll even develop feelings for me.’
Walking over to the floor-to-ceiling windows that took up an entire wall, she looked down at the panoramic view of the district, feeling her desires grow more insatiable by the second.
’Ten million for one night in bed.’
’Fifty million more for getting pregnant.’
’If I give birth to a true child of the Yardley Family, wouldn’t that be a hundred million?’
’With a child, a mother’s status rises with her son’s. Maybe I could even take down Serena Yardley and take her place.’
The more she thought about it, the more excited she became. A grand, ambitious plan was slowly taking shape in her mind.
Just then, the phone in her pocket rang.
She pulled it out and glanced at the screen. Seeing it was Sylvia Schuyler, she raised an eyebrow and answered nonchalantly.
On the phone, Sylvia asked:
"Why haven’t you sent me any updates recently?"
Vivian chuckled. "There was no important information, so I didn’t contact you."
"Is it true that Serena Yardley is pregnant?"
"Of course it’s true. If you don’t believe me, send your own people to check."
"I believe you."
Sylvia said, "Find a way to get rid of her child. I’ll give you a million."
Hearing the sum of one million, Vivian laughed again. "Miss Schuyler, compared to Mr. Yardley, it seems Mr. Yardley has more money."
"What do you mean by that?"
"I mean, I’m working for Mr. Yardley now, and he pays me more."
"Vivian Lynch, how much do you want then?"
Sylvia knew the woman was blackmailing her.
But for the sake of getting revenge on Ethan, she was willing to pay any price.
"Can you afford a hundred million?" Vivian said casually.
Sylvia was so angry she cursed, "Vivian Lynch, you’re asking for that much money? Aren’t you afraid you’ll die one day with no chance to spend it? You’re in the same boat as me now. You have to do as I say."
"You’re wrong, Miss Schuyler. We’re not on the same side. If I were to tell Mr. Yardley what you arranged for me to do, the one who dies first would probably be you, right?"
Her face suddenly darkened and her voice turned cold. "Listen to me. I won’t help you with something so despicable. If you want to get rid of Serena Yardley’s child, send your own people to do it."
"You..."
Sylvia was furious and went all in. "I’ll give you five million."
"This isn’t about money; it’s a matter of my principles. If there’s nothing else, Miss Schuyler, I’m hanging up."
"Vivian Lynch, you just wait. You’ll meet a bad end for crossing me."
