Sir, Please Sign Here to Get a Divorce-Chapter 7: Still Spoiling Her
Serena Yardley also looked at the two people sitting in the living room.
Even though she hated that woman to the core and didn’t want to lay eyes on her for even a second.
But seeing her about to usurp her place and steal her husband, how could she just sit back and do nothing?
’Trying to steal my man right in front of me, Serena Yardley? Not a chance.’
Barefoot, Serena Yardley walked down the stairs, one step at a time.
Ethan Yardley watched her small, slender figure descend. She was wearing a thin slip dress, looking utterly delectable.
But her two delicate feet were bare. He suddenly frowned and reminded her disapprovingly,
"Why are you out of bed without any shoes on?"
Serena Yardley ignored him, suppressing the anger in her heart as she walked straight toward Ethan Yardley.
Sylvia Schuyler also watched Serena Yardley approach them.
Seeing her thin clothes, bare feet, and the pitiful, vulnerable expression on her small face,
Sylvia Schuyler suddenly felt that dealing with this woman would probably take some effort.
"Ethan, I don’t feel well."
Standing next to Ethan Yardley, Serena Yardley deliberately and pitifully snuggled into his arms.
Right in front of Sylvia Schuyler, she sat on his lap and wrapped her small hands around his neck.
Ethan Yardley had intended to pull her away, but seeing she was shoeless, he simply took the opportunity to lift her into his arms. He looked at Sylvia Schuyler and said,
"She’s still a bit immature. Please don’t mind her."
Then, he personally carried Serena Yardley over to the shoe cabinet to get her shoes.
Serena Yardley’s dainty little body clung to the man, her chin resting on his shoulder. Her provocative gaze fell on Sylvia Schuyler, who sat on the sofa, her face a mask of humiliation, her heart filled with jealousy and resentment.
Sylvia Schuyler had always felt that Ethan Yardley owed her.
No matter what she asked of Ethan Yardley, he would agree.
Even if she asked him to divorce his wife and marry her, he wouldn’t refuse.
But now, seeing Ethan Yardley carry his little wife to find her shoes right in front of her, she suddenly felt as if she had been slapped in the face.
’What did I even come here for?’
’To watch them flaunt their affection?’
At that moment, Sylvia Schuyler felt so ashamed and indignant she wanted the ground to swallow her whole.
Ethan Yardley took a pair of shoes from the cabinet. After setting her on his lap and putting them on for her, he looked at her and said,
"Go back to the room and rest. Don’t be unreasonable."
Serena Yardley pretended not to hear, clinging tightly to his neck and refusing to let go. "I can’t sleep. I just want you to hold me, Ethan."
"I need to discuss something with Sylvia."
Ethan Yardley tried to pull her small hands away.
"No~~"
But the moment he pulled, the woman on his shoulder started to whine as if about to cry, whispering in his ear,
"Please don’t~~ Ethan, I won’t bother you. Can you just talk to her while holding me like this? Please?"
"It’s not appropriate."
"How is it not appropriate? I’m your wife."
Ethan Yardley was speechless. "..."
Everyone said that Ethan Yardley was cold, aloof, ruthless by nature, and vicious in his methods.
But no one knew he was helpless against a young woman’s coquettish pleas.
Just like now. Unable to win against her, he had no choice but to carry her back to the living room.
Seeing that Ethan hadn’t pulled her away, Serena Yardley rested her head on his shoulder and pretended to be asleep.
Sylvia Schuyler hadn’t expected Ethan Yardley to personally put Serena Yardley’s shoes on and then carry her back.
She stared at the two people clinging to each other, her gaze sharp enough to be daggers.
"Sylvia, why don’t you go back to your room and rest first? We can talk tomorrow. This girl has had a bit of a cold recently, she’s been very clingy."
Sylvia Schuyler was speechless. "..."
’Could anyone possibly understand how I feel right now?’
’Did I come here just to be humiliated?’
’No!’
’This man in front of me is mine! He should spend his entire life making it up to me. On what grounds should I suffer in loneliness while he gets to marry and have a family?’
’If I, Sylvia Schuyler, can’t have children, then Ethan Yardley must also remain childless and heirless to keep me company.’
Gritting her teeth, Sylvia Schuyler wanted to explode with rage.
But in the end, her reason took over, forcing her to restrain her anger. She continued to pretend to be graceful and said gently,
"Alright, I’ll go rest. But Ethan, we are going to be husband and wife in the future. I hope you two won’t act like this in front of me again."
She put on a display of being slightly angry as she followed Mrs. Miller upstairs.
Serena Yardley, still draped over the man’s shoulder, glared at Sylvia Schuyler’s retreating back, grinding her teeth in frustration.
But Sylvia’s words, "we are going to be husband and wife in the future," had still stabbed deep into Serena Yardley’s heart.
She angrily slid off the man and plopped down onto the sofa.
Ethan Yardley stood in front of Serena Yardley, his eyes filled with helplessness. "Serena, don’t do this again."
Serena Yardley met the man’s gaze, her eyes red as she retorted, "What did I do? You’re my husband, and she’s the other woman! Besides..."
"She is not."
Ethan Yardley cut Serena Yardley off, his face grim as he sat down next to her.
"I owe Sylvia too much. The position of Mrs. Yardley was promised to her a long time ago."
Serena Yardley’s heart suddenly felt as if it had been pierced by a thousand arrows. She struggled to remain strong, her voice turning low and hoarse.
"What do you owe her? Were you two deeply in love before?"
"It has nothing to do with love."
Ethan Yardley changed the subject. "It’s getting late. Let’s go back to the room and rest."
Serena Yardley was speechless. "..."
’Nothing to do with love?’
’So Ethan and Sylvia were never in love?’
’If they weren’t in love, then what could he possibly owe her?’
Serena Yardley couldn’t imagine what could possibly bind a man like Ethan.
But seeing that woman staying here made Serena Yardley feel as disgusted as if she’d swallowed a fly.
She looked at Ethan Yardley and asked, "Is this how you’re ’handling’ her?"
"You’re letting her stay, so where does that leave me?"
No matter who that woman was, or whether Ethan would marry her, right now, Serena Yardley simply could not accept her presence.
’Who the hell does she think she is?’
’Coming into someone else’s home and acting so arrogant.’
Ethan Yardley looked at the person before him, his expression still full of helplessness.
He sat down next to her and said in a low voice, "It’s too late tonight. I’ll have her leave tomorrow."
"Then you’re not allowed to contact her anymore. You just promised me you wouldn’t divorce me."
Serena Yardley had always trusted her husband completely.
She chose to trust him unconditionally, no matter what he did.
As long as he kept his distance from that woman in the future, she absolutely would not be unreasonable.
For a moment, Ethan Yardley didn’t know what to do with her, so he just casually agreed.
"I know. I’ll make things clear with her tomorrow."
Serena Yardley breathed a sigh of relief.
Feeling wronged, she leaned into his embrace of her own accord.
"I know you’ve already given me so much, Ethan. I shouldn’t be greedy, but I just want a complete family. I just want..."
’I just want to give our baby a wonderful and harmonious home.’
Ethan Yardley raised a hand to hold her, and hearing her choked words, how could his own heart feel any better?
After a moment of silence, he lifted her entire small frame, hooking her legs around his waist as he walked upstairs.
"Alright, stop overthinking. Let’s go back to the room and rest."
Serena Yardley habitually wrapped her arms around his neck, nestled into the crook of his shoulder, and replied coquettishly, "Mm-hmm."
「The next day.」 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Ethan Yardley woke up very early.
So did Sylvia Schuyler.
Only the two of them were at the breakfast table.
As they ate an elegant meal, Ethan Yardley began to speak.
"Since we agreed on two years, I will certainly fulfill my promise after those two years are up. But during this time, let’s not contact each other!"
