227 Meeting the father

Roman quietly departed from the spot and went to the other places where the beastmen were struggling to deal with the weird creatures that had popped out of seemingly nowhere.

With the help of Mikel's resources, the beastmen once again gained the upper hand and quickly overpowered the demons. Many of the demon generals had ashen looks on their faces as they couldn't understand why their side was suddenly falling apart.

This was not a plan the demons had concocted overnight. It was a carefully strategized, thoroughly prepared action that had consumed a lot of their resources and even involved sacrificing many of their men.

And yet today, they stood on the losing side.

The demon generals sighed in defeat as they couldn't bear the cost of this loss. If it was just simple resources perhaps they wouldn't have cared. However, things were a lot more complicated.

They were demons but there was evil out there which was worse than them. They had made a pact with this evil to secure their victory today. They had sacrificed a great deal to this evil.

And just like that, all of that was for nothing. How the heavens did this happen? Neither the humans nor the beasts should even know about this being, then how did they manage to defeat this thing?

The demon generals did not know and they did not care for staying back to figure it out and fight it till the end. Most of the demon army saw that their side was on the verge of losing and started covertly retreating.

They were demons. They did not care about fighting with honor. They had no plans to continue struggling against a losing battle. It was time to run. They would lie in wait and plan for their revenge later.

As a big chunk of the army turned tail and ran as fast as they could away from the site of the battle so that they could teleport and get the heck out of there, suddenly something was amiss.

The demons noticed that they couldn't activate their teleportation tokens or scrolls or for that matter any of their other artifacts no matter what they did. The space around them was completely locked.

Perhaps they had to run further?

As the fleeing demon army once again started to well... flee... out of nowhere meteors started falling from the sky. It rained fire and lightning bolts pelted non-stop.

No! Instantly everyone felt fear run down their spine as they sensed the presence of something far more powerful than even the fearsome demon generals. freewebnove l.com

"A dragon!!!!!" One of the demons shrieked. However, no one looked down on the demon for shrieking in fear because the others had also seen the majestic beast fly over them and stood absolutely frozen.

The dragon's massive form blotted out the sun as it soared above the battlefield, its scales glimmering with an ethereal light that seemed to dance in the air around it.

Its eyes, glowing with an ancient and otherworldly power, scanned the retreating demon forces with a gaze that promised retribution.

The demons found themselves cowering under the weight of a presence that dwarfed their own dark powers.

They had heard tales of dragons, of their might and majesty, but to witness such a being in the flesh was to understand the true disparity between themselves and the lords of the sky.

Below, the beastmen and the combined forces of humans and other allies watched in awe as the dragon unleashed its fury upon the demons.

With every beat of its powerful wings, it sent gusts of wind strong enough to knock the lesser demons off their feet, while its breath, a searing torrent of flame mixed with crackling bolts of lightning, incinerated those caught in its path.

Roman looked up at the dragon with a mixture of respect and understanding. "It's the King and the Patriarch," he said, his voice barely audible over the roar of the dragon's onslaught. "They've come to ensure our victory."

If Mikel's resources sealed most of the victory, then the King's intervention made sure that absolutely no demons escaped the battleground that day.

With this, everything was quickly wrapped up and the battleground was cleared of the demonic presence.

The surviving demons, unable to flee due to the locked space and overwhelmed by the dragon's might, met their end on the battlefield. It was a decisive victory, one that would be remembered in the annals of both beastmen and human kingdoms.

In the aftermath, as the dust settled and the sounds of battle faded into silence, the soldiers and warriors gathered around the dragon, now returned to its human form. The King, alongside the Patriarch, stood before their combined forces, a sense of solemn pride emanating from them.

"We have won a great victory today. We have shown that even if the enemy uses underhanded methods they still cannot shake us," the King began his rousing speech but Frederick Akhekh suddenly stopped as his gaze landed on his daughter.

More specifically, on the man who was currently holding his unconscious daughter.

No, on the man who was currently holding his unconscious daughter and also had a demonic aura around him which made him unmistakably a demon.

The sudden shift in the atmosphere was palpable. The warriors and soldiers, moments before basking in the glory of their victory, now tensed, their eyes drawn to the scene that the King's gaze had highlighted. Whispers began to ripple through the ranks, a mixture of confusion and suspicion brewing among the troops.

Frederick Akhekh's expression darkened, his eyes narrowing as he took in the sight of a demon cradling his daughter.

"You!" Frederick's voice boomed across the clearing, commanding the attention of all present. His tone was a mix of authority and a dangerous calm, one that promised consequences should his forthcoming questions find unsatisfactory answers.

"Explain yourself. Why does a demon's aura surround you? And why do you hold my daughter in such a state?"
