Spirit's Ascension-Chapter 50—Cain vs. Mysterious Danger
"Isn’t that Cain?" Cole thought with wide eyes.
In the clearing in front of Cole, Cain was battling a large, bulky man with everything he had.
The bulky man wore a dark trench coat that covered his whole body tightly while carrying a large hammer. During their battle, the man moved around a lot, allowing Cole to see the man well.
Behind the man’s trench coat was a large emblem that was awfully familiar to Cole.
It was the emblem that was behind the man that almost ended his life and left that dark energy in him.
"Is that the partner Bryan spoke about?" Cole thought.
"Things have escalated fast."
Seeing the magnitude of danger that was currently in front of him, Cole tried his best not to cause any disturbance.
He stayed as quiet as possible while trying to stay unseen by the people currently in the heat of battle.
Cain was currently using his Flaming Arrow ability to its max.
conjured multiple blue Flaming arrows and sent them flying at his enemies.
Despite being as large as he was, the man was nowhere near being considered slow; instead, it could even be said that he was extremely fast.
He nimbly dodged all the arrow attacks without much effort.
The Flaming arrows weren’t ordinary, though; they were different from the one he used against Cole.
These sets of flaming arrows were capable of being controlled. Upon missing their target the first time, they turned around and headed for the man again.
This second time, the man didn’t attempt to dodge; instead, he faced them squarely and used the large hammer to directly smash them.
In a casual strike, the arrows were cleanly destroyed. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Cole felt exposed by the battle, watching and itching, as he hadn’t experienced an exchange that reached this level before.
The best he had experienced was the show of power by the elder in the library.
This exchange was much different though, every exchange seemed lethal and aimed to kill the other.
"How is Cain able to keep up? He is a monster," Cole thought.
It was obvious to Cole that Cain was actually barely hanging on; he was completely outmatched by his opponent in every way.
The only thing keeping him alive was his versatility.
His attacks were able to barely stop the man anytime he was about to do something deadly.
Cole had finally been able to decipher the source of the fumes and the heat.
It was produced by Cain’s attacks and the dark energy that was currently radiating from the man.
The shockwaves produced by their collisions pushed the fumes further away from the center.
Resulting in it being lighter in the center and thicker on the edges, but something Cole hadn’t figured out was actually preventing it from dispersing.
The battle rage on Cain was getting suppressed more and more. His attacks were slowly losing their deadliness.
It was as if he were slowly running out of Life energy. man, man, on the other hand, was still as strong as he was previously.
Cole watched as Cain was getting violently beaten hard, with deep mixed feelings.
The man grabbed Cain by the arm and yanked hard.
"Haaaaaa," Cain screamed out.
Cole, while still hiding in his spot, was immediately triggered. His body was about to rush out.
But his mind kept him at bay.
While the bat continued, Cole was also currently in a battle between his body and mind.
Cole could hear a voice in his mind like an inner Demon.
"Have you forgotten how he treated you, he treated you like trash."
"He almost killed you."
"For some petty reason, without even bothering to hear you out,"
"He is getting what he deserves; he bullied the weak, now time for him to be bullied."
"Why should you care if he was killed?"
While those thoughts dominated Cole’s mind, his body was spasming like it was about to rush out.
Cole clenched his fist really tightly while attempting to restrain himself.
Cole watched the man toss Cain all about like a ragdoll. At this moment Cain was already bleeding over and over, and the man maintained a sadistic smile.
Despite Cole’s mind thoughts, he could feel the Empty Codex pulsating strongly in defiance as if it wanted to join the battle.
That caused the scale of Cole’s internal battle to tip towards his body.
But Cole’s mind proved extremely powerful, resisting the urge still.
"What do I do? What do I do?" Cole thought in a panicked state.
He thought that, but his mind seemed to have made a decision.
The large man now had Cain in a chokehold while raising him high in the sky.
Knowing victory was already in his grasp, the man spoke for the first time since Cole arrived.
"Innate spirits can never win when against us."
"You guys are bound to be absorbed by the world in the end." He said coldly,
Cain, while still gripping his grip, struggled violently, as if he had something to say.
But the man’s grip on his throat only tightened, preventing any word from escaping his mouth.
Cole watched all of his with a cold expression as he stood up.
He took a step.
It was backwards.
He wanted to leave. He wanted to leave and abandon Cain to suffer or even die.
Cole knew he was a very bad person for deciding to do something like that, but he just didn’t care anymore.
He was about to take his second step out of there when everything suddenly stopped.
The man’s gaze shifted away from the current tone on his hands to somewhere else.
He was staring straight into a bush not too far away.
Cole couldn’t move a single inch forward anymore; the surroundings and he felt completely frozen.
He struggled to look behind him to see what was going on.
He then unexpectedly locked eyes with the matador. The eyes were like two deep abysses that would swallow anything they came in contact with.
something. heard Say something.
"Leaving so soon?"
"Stay and join the party. Cole Bremont."
