Spirit's Ascension-Chapter 51—Convergence
The world outside the barrier was much different from the interior; inside the barrier was currently in a deadlock.
But outside, it was plain unadulterated chaos, people could be seen running all about.
Some tried to get away from the barrier as fast as they could while the others ran towards it.
The normal students were majorly the ones running away from the barrier, while the slightly noteworthy ones were heading straight for it.
Bryan, Linda, Lucius, and Moses are even the second-year students that were turned out alive, though slightly injured, and were some of the ones running straight at them.
Weirdly, lagging behind those students was a Shadow, it moved so fast almost no one could perceive it.
In the barrier.
"How...does this man know me just like his partner did?"
"What do they want from me?" He questioned.
"You are probably wondering how I knew you and how I found out you were there," Simone asked.
"Let me indulge you a little and tell you a secret."
"With that present Damian left in you, You are literally a book for people like us."
Cole’s pupils dilated widely as his body quivered in shock.
"Literally like an open book to people like us." Resounded in his head.
"I thought.... I thought... I took care of the danger; it turns out I only stored it.
"How are they even able to do something like that?"
what’s the connection between them and that thing?"
"What even is that thing?"
Questions keep popping up one at a time in Cole’s head as he tries to compose himself.
Noticing Cole’s unfocused gaze, Simone (the large man) felt a deep layer of satisfaction.
He knew he had successfully created a deep sense of fear in Cole and also a large number of unfinished questions.
That was exactly his goal. A confused and disoriented person can never display their full potential.
"Your Innate Spirit is too dangerous to be left to roam," Simone thought.
"Focus, Cole, Focus, there is an enemy right in front of you," Cole said to himself in a bid to try and awaken himself.
He shoved the endless question in his mind to the back as he got ready for battle.
A battle was already inevitable at this point, so the only thing Cole knew he could do was brace and get ready.
This was a fact that Cole was 100 percent sure of, and it was his strength when compared to his enemies.
He was weaker by a whole lot; it could even be said that he had no hope of victory, but Cole still persisted.
He refused to give up without trying and gritted his teeth while attempting to take a step towards his enemy.
A change suddenly occurred.
His body betrayed him.
His voluntary control over his muscles was completely non-existent at that moment.
Instead, he was dragged by an intangible force straight towards Simone.
Simultaneously, while he was being dragged, something else reawakened in his body.
It was the dark energy he had previously suppressed; the dark energy sprouted out again with new life.
And now much faster than it did the previous time.
It extended from its temporary abode and began spreading throughout his body through his veins.
On the surface of Cole’s skin, a dark substance could be seen slithering all around, almost completely taking him over.
Cole was just about to begin chanting the World Absorbing Mantra to try and save himself when the Codex responded.
It appeared out in the open despite Cole not wanting it and began pulsating.
Its pulsations weren’t just reactions this time; they produced a golden energy that reacted with everything.
It reacted with the energy trying to take over Cole; it reacted with the dark energy in the air and even in Simone’s body, resulting in a deep frown appearing on his face.
And finally, the golden energy reacted with the environment itself. It shrouded the atmosphere in a deep scholarly aura.
Cole could feel his mind clearing up and thoughts becoming faster under that aura. Cain himself could feel the same.
At that moment, Cole realized something; he got a glimpse of something important. Something big.
"There it is," Simone said with unexpected reverie in his eyes while he stared at the Codex in the air.
The Codex didn’t linger too long, though; it returned as fast as it appeared. Leaving the outside world.
Inside Cole, the Codex became oddly silent. Not reacting anymore as if it had utilized all of its energy.
"It had begun showing signs of Awakening so fast."
"I need to take care of it as soon as possible," Simone said.
Despite the disappearance of the Codex, its effects were still lingering in the air and Cole.
The dark energy was already suppressed again, and even Simone’s brows were furrowed.
The students that were previously running towards the artificial barrier were now just outside it.
Different thoughts were currently flashing across each of their minds.
"That man is probably inside this barrier; I must get him," Bryan said before rushing straight into the barrier.
"Father, I hope I can handle the assignment you gave," Linda thought while also rushing into the barrier.
Both Moses and Lucius didn’t hesitate at all; they directly rushed inside with resolute expressions.
All of them approached from different directions so none of them met each other outside the barrier.
When the second-year student arrived, instead of entering like the others did. Instead, he stood just outside it as if he were awaiting something.
"I can’t risk it; I will just wait here and see how it goes," He said with a fearful expression.
In the barrier, Cole was half-kneeling on the bare ground while staring straight at Simone with a deadly gaze.
The quick response helped the Codex save him from what appeared to be great trouble.
But the danger hadn’t been averted; it was still fully active and staring back at Cole.
"Let’s get started already," Simone said slyly.
Upon hearing that, Cole stood on his feet and began preparing to attack.
Before he could actually begin to attack, he was stopped by a new presence.
It was Bryan.
Cole felt elated by his presence and was just about to say something.
From another direction, someone else appeared, and one by one the students who entered the barrier arrived at the center.
Cole, Cain, and Simone looked at the students around them with shock.
But Simone didn’t stay shocked for long.
"More joining the party? That’s okay, the more the merrier," He said.
"Come at me, all of you." But Simone didn’t stay shocked for long.
"More joining the party? That’s okay, the more the merrier," He said.
"Come at me, all of you."
