SSS-Rank Extra: I Got a Chaos System-Chapter 27: Wrath of the Flock
Chapter 27 - Wrath of the Flock
As the dust settled, silence hung in the air for a fraction of a second. Then—
A deep, guttural roar shattered the moment. The abomination stirred, its bloated, torn flesh quivering unnaturally. The explosion had torn massive chunks from its body, but instead of dying, it convulsed—its wounds bubbling, reshaping, knitting together in grotesque new forms.
The remaining zombies, instead of attacking Kazuki and Lillian, suddenly froze. One by one, they turned toward the abomination, their hollow eyes gleaming with a new, unnatural hunger. Then, as if drawn by an unseen force, they sprinted toward it, shrieking and flailing.
Their bodies slammed into the abomination, their flesh melting into its mass, writhing and twisting as they were absorbed. Limbs extended, bones snapped and reformed, veins pulsed with an eerie glow. The creature grew, its bloated form stretching taller, its jagged mouth splitting wider with each new body it consumed.
Lillian's breath hitched. "Oh, you've got to be kidding me."
Kazuki, still standing in his ridiculous T-pose, tilted his head. "Huh. That's new."
The abomination let out another deafening roar, its voice layered with the agonized wails of the zombies it had absorbed. The very ground trembled beneath its weight as it took a thunderous step forward, the air around it distorting with sheer malice.
Kazuki sighed, rolling his shoulders. "Alright, Lillian. Change of plans."
She clenched her fists, ice crackling along her fingertips. "Yeah?"
He grinned. "We make it explode harder."
Then, he raised a single hand to the sky, his voice booming with reckless authority. "[Skill: Call of the Flock (C)]!"
For a moment, nothing happened. The battlefield was eerily silent, save for the sickening, wet sounds of the abomination absorbing the last remnants of the undead. Its massive, pulsating form loomed over them, its mouth stretching into a grotesque, fanged chasm.
Then, the sky darkened.
A deafening cacaw echoed through the air.
Lillian barely had time to process what was happening before the first wave hit.
Hundreds—no, thousands—of chickens came shrieking from the heavens, descending like a divine force of poultry-based destruction. Some were normal-sized, others absurdly large, their wings glowing with an unearthly energy. They spiraled downward, their forms trailing golden streaks as if they had been summoned from some celestial coop of war.
And then—impact.
The first explosion tore through the battlefield like a meteor strike. The abomination reeled as flaming feathers and shockwaves crashed into its massive form. The next wave hit even harder, a relentless bombardment of screeching, exploding chickens raining destruction from above. The air itself seemed to buckle under the sheer absurdity of the assault.
Lillian's mouth hung open as the world around her dissolved into utter chaos. "What the actual—?!"
Kazuki stood firm, arms crossed, nodding in satisfaction. "See? Told you. We just needed more explosions."
The abomination shrieked in fury, its flesh peeling and reforming desperately against the onslaught. But the barrage didn't stop. The ground shook, the very sky filled with streaks of light as the bombardment continued, an endless, relentless storm of explosive poultry.
Lillian dragged a hand down her face, exhaling sharply. "I don't even know what to say anymore."
Kazuki smirked, reaching into his cloak. "Oh, don't worry. I've got one more trick up my sleeve."
The abomination let out a hellish, multi-layered wail as the chickens rained down upon it, each impact triggering an explosion that tore through its grotesque flesh. Its body writhed and twisted, the pulsing mass of stolen limbs and writhing faces attempting to regenerate—but the bombardment was relentless.
Every chicken struck like a divine missile, golden light flashing before the thunderous booms shook the battlefield. Feathers and flames mixed in the air, turning the ground into a swirling inferno of debris and mutated flesh. The abomination's torso ballooned outward, its distended gut stretching as if trying to absorb the explosions—only for a massive rupture to tear open, spilling liquefied remains of the zombies it had consumed.
Lillian shielded herself from the shockwaves, ice forming instinctively around her arms as she stared in sheer disbelief. "There is no way this is real," she muttered, barely able to hear herself over the cacophony of destruction.
Kazuki, unfazed, simply pointed at the abomination like a general overseeing a perfectly executed battle plan. "Behold!" he declared. "The poultry apocalypse!"
The abomination lurched forward, its remaining arms snapping outward at unnatural angles, desperately trying to swat the celestial chickens from the sky. But the more it struggled, the more it lost. Its own body betrayed it, joints twisting backward, bones snapping from the sheer force of its failing regeneration. The faces embedded in its flesh shrieked in unison, their twisted expressions of rage and agony distorting into something even worse—fear.
For the first time, the abomination realized something no enemy should ever have to understand.
It was losing.
And it was losing... to exploding chickens.
A final, massive wave of poultry plummeted from the heavens, an entire armada of divine fowl encased in golden energy. The lead chicken, larger than the rest, spun like a meteor, its wings spread wide in a display of holy judgment. It locked eyes with the abomination. A silent understanding passed between them.
This was the end.
The impact sent out a shockwave that split the ground beneath them. The air distorted, colors inverting for a brief moment as reality itself seemed to struggle with the sheer absurdity of what had just happened. The abomination's body convulsed violently, its limbs flailing, its grotesque mass bloating outward one final time—before it imploded, sucked into a vortex of chaotic energy and burning feathers.
Silence.
Then, the sky cleared.
Kazuki dropped his arms, exhaling in satisfaction. "And that," he said, dusting off his hands, "is why you never underestimate the power of poultry."
Lillian remained silent for a long moment, staring at the scorched, cratered remains of the battlefield. Finally, she turned to Kazuki, her voice slow and measured.
"I don't know if I should be impressed or deeply, deeply concerned."
Kazuki grinned, flipping his dagger back into its sheath. "Both," he said simply.

The dust finally settled. Ash and glowing embers drifted through the air, the battlefield now an unrecognizable wasteland of craters, scattered feathers, and the lingering scent of charred monster flesh. The only sound was the occasional plop of an overcooked chicken carcass tumbling from the sky.
Then, with an electronic chime, a massive golden screen flickered into existence before them, floating in midair.
[MISSION COMPLETE!]

A small chibi version of the abomination appeared in the corner of the screen, curled up and crying dramatically as a tiny, pixelated chicken repeatedly pecked at its head.
Kazuki smirked, tapping his chin. "Huh. Skill upgrade. That's neat."
Lillian, who had just barely recovered from the absurdity of the past five minutes, slowly turned to face him. "Neat? Neat?!" She gestured wildly at the still-smoking battlefield. "You just annihilated a world-ending horror with chickens, Kazuki! Exploding chickens! And now the system has rewarded you for it!"
Kazuki nodded sagely. "As it should."
She ran both hands through her hair, letting out a deep sigh. "I don't know whether I should be proud or terrified."
Kazuki gave her a thumbs-up. "Both."
As if on cue, the mission screen flickered, adding a new line.
BONUS REWARD: Title Unlocked – "Poultry Prophet"
Kazuki snorted. "Okay, that one's just insulting."
Lillian couldn't take it anymore. She doubled over, laughing until she was gasping for air, the sheer ridiculousness of it all finally breaking her.
Above them, the sky remained clear and serene—as if it hadn't just been the battlefield for a divine war of exploding fowl.
And for the first time since the fight started, true peace returned.
