SSS-Rank Harem Sword: My Lustful Life With Legendary Maidens-Chapter 34: Being Targeted Again.
Several hours had passed since the carriage departed for Capital City.
Adonis and his group had already traveled about 80 miles.
"Young lord, are you feeling comfortable?" one of the guards from the carriage asked.
Their tone was polite, mostly due to the fact that this seemingly illegitimate child was admitted to the Royal Academy. And no ordinary person ever gets admitted to that prestigious Academy.
Adonis Kingsbane was bound to become an official of the Kingdom at the very least.
Adonis replied with a lazy air.
"Yeah. Except for the bumpy parts that rattled my bones."
"Hey driver, watch the road!" the other guard barked. "Young lord is feeling uncomfortable."
The carriage driver grinned back. "Aye, aye, sire."
Their obvious flattery earned Adonis an eye roll.
Nonetheless, Adonis was very much enjoying the ride.
"Do you know how much it will take us to reach the Capital?" he asked the first guard.
The guard replied, "The Capital City is 2000 miles away from the Duchy, Young lord. But our horses belong to a magical species called Armoire, capable of traveling fast and longer, able to see even at night. All of this will reduce our journey to 3 days at most."
Adonis sighed internally. He remembered how efficient planes from Earth were. They could have made this tedious journey only a few hours long.
But he could do nothing but accept it. After all, even though the world has magic and ether, he doesn’t have access to high-tier transportation means.
After another hour, just before evening, the carriage suddenly came to a violent halt.
Neigh. Neigh.
The horses screamed in terror.
Following after, a dark figure dropped from the treeline above, landing silently on the roof with the grace of a shadow.
The assassin wore a grotesque clown mask made of white porcelain painted with wide red lips and black tear streaks.
And the eyes, they were hidden behind narrow slits.
Before anyone could react, a curved blade flashed.
"Slash!"
"Thud!"
The driver’s head tumbled from his shoulders in a single clean stroke, and blood spraying across the reins.
The body slumped forward, lifeless.
"What’s that?"
The two guards leaped out from inside with swords drawn.
But their movements were shaky. Fear already diluted their eyes.
"Protect the young lord!" one shouted tremblingly.
They charged together.
"Whoosh."
The assassin moved like liquid night.
"Bang!"
A spinning kick sent the first guard crashing into a tree, ribs cracking audibly.
The second managed one desperate swing, only for the blade to pass through his throat in a red arc.
"Blurgh!"
He gurgled once and collapsed, clutching the wound as life bled out.
"....."
The terryfying silence was broken by the panicked snorts of the Armoire horses and the drip of blood on dirt.
Adonis stepped out of the carriage slowly as his black robes fluttered in the evening breeze.
His expression was calm, almost bored.
"So, you have finally arrived. And here I was wondering how can get scot free untill now."
While speaking, he placed one hand over his chest.
Buzz!
The Chaotic Harem Sword materialized from his sternum in a swirl of dark mist.
<Finally, Master. I was getting bored watching you ride in this rattling box.>
The assassin tilted his masked head, as if studying Adonis closely.
"You’re weak. Why are you not afraid?"he asked Adonis.
In reply, Adonis lifted the sword in a casual grip, its tip pointing to the ground.
"Because fear makes only weaker."
"Your bravery is commendable. But unfortunately, all your effort will be futile. My sword can ignore all defense. Today, You’re going to die."
"You talk too much for an assasin. Come at me!"
By his estimate, the assassin should over level 20. So he had to take him seriously, even though his own power had surpassed level 15 long ago.
Adonis moved first.
His body charged forward, feet gliding across the dirt with controlled movement.
"Relentless Thrust."
The black blade snapped forward in a straight line, then another, then another. Each thrust chained into the next with increasing speed, the air itself trembling from the pressure.
Clang. Clang. Clang.
The assassin parried, but they were fast.
Too fast for an ordinary opponent.
Every clash against the curved blade and Harem sword created sparks of fire.
"Not bad," the masked man said calmly.
Adonis did not reply.
Instead, his wrist fazed from existence.
"Backdoor Severance Style."
The sword’s trajectory warped mid-motion.
What should have been a frontal strike twisted sharply, slipping past the assassin’s guard from an impossible angle.
Slash.
A shallow cut appeared across the assassin’s side.
Blood seeped through the dark fabric.
For the first time, the masked man stepped back.
"Interesting..."
Adonis pressed forward instantly.
He gave no room to rest easy.
Thrust. Step. Pivot. Slash.
Each movement flowed into the next. The deceptive angles of Backdoor Severance forced the assassin into a defensive rhythm, while Relentless Thrust built pressure with every exchange.
The ground cracked beneath their feet, making dust rise under moonlit sky.
The assassin’s breathing grew ragged..
"Wha a surprise! You’re actually forcing me back," he muttered in genuine surprise.
Adonis narrowed his eyes, studying the enemy as per Claudia’s training.
"No. He’s not panicking. He’s just observing. I have to be careful."
Another exchange happened.
Clang.
This time, the assassin vanished from his sight.
"Too slow, boy."
Bang.
The ruthless strike landed straight on his ribcage.
"Argh!"
Due to his high defense, he was sent skidding across the ground, rolling twice before stopping.
Adonis stood immediately.
His body knit the gaseous wound on thr muscles unnaturally as his Chaotic Harem Body absorbed the impact.
"Not enough," he murmured.
He rushed again.
Faster.
Stronger.
"Relentless Thrust!"
A storm of strikes flowed.
The assassin blocked, but this time his stance wavered slightly.
Adonis saw it.
Now.
"Backdoor Severance."
The blade twisted.
It slipped past the guard again. Deeper this time.
Slash.
The assassin staggered. Then silence followed.
Unlike anything Adonis expected, he began to laugh.
"Heh... heh..."
Adonis frowned as he felt something wss wrong.
