SSS Ranked Dragon King: My Innate Ability is Unbelievable.-Chapter 178: No no no, this can’t be happening.
Chapter 178: No no no, this can’t be happening.
Under their stubborn efforts, cracks soon began to emerge on the barriers surface, glowing like fractured glass. The sight increased the archer and mages despair, the zombies became even more relentless as if they could perceive their raw and pure terror, their movements becoming more erratic.
The swordsman continued to hold his ground but he failed to advance in any direction, instead, he was forced into a passive defensive position yet he refused to succumb to the zombies.
" Out of my way!" He yelled, his sword glowing with magical power as he swung it diagonally, its edge cutting through the zombie beasts, the sensation itself was sickening.
As the blade sliced through their rotten, flesh and bones, the swordsman felt the urge to retch but he held it in, and continued. With each strike, their foul blood would spray across his leather armor, the repulsive scent assaulting his senses and disorienting him little by little, like a toxic fume that continued to pollute the air.
Thanks to that, he soon began to lose focus, which was a crucial and costly mistake. With the constant addition of their overwhelming numbers, claws soon began to pass his defensive strikes, damaging his armour.
Not long after, his armour was dilapidated, exposing his defenseless succulent flesh to the frenzied zombies.
Their claws quickly began to slice through his flesh, the more weaker he got, leaving deep lacerations on his body that burned like fire, his strength waning even more.
" Party leader!!!" The Mage’s eyes began to tear up as he watched the man being torn apart by the zombie beasts.
" Cough! Don’t come over here!" The man warned them while continuing to attack the zombies yet he secretly hopped that someone, or something would emerge to save them. Unfortunately, reality was a tad cruel at the moment and the only thing that came for him we’re more and more zombies.
" BLERRGHH!" The swordsman vomited a mouthful of foul blood, his sword slipping from his grasp as his strength finally left him.
SLASH!!!
His knees buckled when a zombie beast’s claws tore across his abdomen, a searing pain exploding through him as his intestines spilled onto the earth, the warm, coppery smell of blood flooding his senses.
He collapsed onto the side of his face, gasping, his vision blurring as the beasts finally abandoned him as if they had completed their mission, their focus shifting to somewhere else or to be specific, another figure instead.
It wasn’t the tank, because he was no better off than the swordsman, his massive frame riddled with wounds, his shield dented and slick with gore, his booming laugh silenced as he lay maimed but still alive, an inch away from deaths door, his labored breaths visible in the form of faint white vapour that gradually diminished with each breath.
The new focus of all the zombies was without a doubt the mage and archer.
" I-I’m out of magic?!!!" The Mages eyes trembled as tears poured down his cheeks when he realized his mana was drained.
As if the very heavens were sneering at his plight, his staffs glow began to dim as the barrier shattered with a sound like breaking ice.
The zombie beasts surged forward without hesitation, their decayed jaws snapping as they mauled him, his screams pierced the night as chunks of flesh were torn away and devoured, his blood pooling on the forest floor.
The archer who bore witness to the horrific scene didn’t know what to do anymore. her legs giving out as she collapsed to her knees, tears streaming down her pale cheeks.
When she sensed all the zombie beasts ravenous eyes trained on her, her bow clattered as it fell out of her hand, landing beside her, moreover, a pungent yellow liquid slowly spread from between her legs, the sharp smell of fear mingling with the rot.
Her eyes, once filled with joviality, were now hollow with despair as the beasts’ ravenous gazes slowly grew intense, their growls low and menacing as they approached her ever so gently, the moonlight glinting off their infected fangs.
Suddenly, the zombie beasts fell silent, their snarling maws turning still, though their glowing eyes never left the archer.
A figure emerged from the forest, the area had turned so silent that the only noise that was heard was his casual footsteps which made his presence even more chilling.
The faint flapping of his tattered cloth in the wind seemed to blend splendidly with the sounds of the night.
The new arrival wasn’t Su Ping but a zombie, and not just any simple undead zombie at that but a zombie king.
Unlike what most would think, each zombie king or zombies as a race, didn’t possess an uncanny appearance to one another, unlike the Death Knights.
A good example of this fact could be taken from when Su Ping had recruited zombie kings earlier today. Amongst the zombie kings Su Ping summoned, some were female, some didn’t resemble humans and some were even quadruped.
This zombie king however, had ghoulish green eyes just like members of it’s kind, yet it’s sinister face hinted at it’s concealed intelligence.
His skeletal fingers twitched as he approached the archer, his gaze raking over her trembling form, her hair matted with sweat and dirt.
" Hmm... You’re not skinny nor is are you fat but, Your hips aren’t that wide either. Nevertheless, I’m sure I can work something out." Holding his bony chin, he spoke in a rasping voice, devoid of warmth.
"Be glad, You pass." he said, his words lacking emphaty. "You’ll make a fine breeding sample for that mans plan."
" P-Plan? W-What plan?!" The archers heart pounded, her breath hitching as his words sank in, her mind teetering on the edge of collapse.
Her party member’s had just been brutally mauled yet she had been left unscathed, now she finally learned that these wicked creatures had something else installed for her, something else far more horrific, how else would she react if not by becoming even more frightened.
The zombie king sneered, his lipless mouth weren’t visible yet she could see the sneer in his gaze as he continued. " What? Thinking of running away?"
" I’m sure you can see that such thoughts aren’t an option unless you prefer being hunted down." The zombie king chuckled while glancing at the several zombie beasts that continued to eye the archer as if she was no different than a fresh slab of meat on a platter, waiting to be devoured.
" You should be glad you didn’t end up like your pitiful companions." The Zombie king laughed at her as if amused with the creature before him.
" I’d be more than willing to hunt you down personally, it’s been awhile since I enjoyed a good chase, but unfortunately, I can’t risk damaging a sample. It seems he’s very interested in you human women or to be precise..."
" Your kind’s ability to reproduce."
" I must admit, You humans multiply at a rate that even rivals our zombie race, even the insect race might have a hard time surpassing you people, to think useless beings such as yourselves could possess such favour."
" Nevertheless, just your reproductive capabilities wouldn’t be all he’s after from what I could tell. That man sure wasn’t easy to read but at least he doesn’t skimp on rewarding us summons."
" With the rapid growth of monsters added with your races ability to spawn more life, I wonder how many soldiers you’ll birth for him before you’ll break."
" B-Birth? What are you talking about! What do you mean birth?!" The archer screamed, clearly agitated, she instinctively tried to free yet the sharp gazes of the zombie beast’s sucked out all the strength she had in her limbs, chilling her hearth.
His words were a cold blade, cutting through her fragile hope, her body trembling uncontrollably as she clutched the earth, her fingers sinking into the damp soil.
" Come... You’ll have to start immediately, time is of the essence."
"The quicker you become of service to him, the better. Who knows, if you’re more capable than expected, he might be willing to elevate your pitiful status..."
The zombie king, unmoved by her terror, turned and gestured for her to follow, his bare feet patting lightly against the earth as he headed out of the forests clearing.
The archer remained frozen, her body shaking, her sobs choking the air. The zombie king paused, his brows furrowing with discontent.
" Didn’t I make it clear that I have no interest in dragging this out any longer?"
" There’s no way I’m going anywhere with you!!"
"I’d rather die!!"
" Just kill me! Kill me now!"Her voice broke as she begged for mercy, her words tumbling out in a desperate plea.
" Didn’t you listen to what I just said, if you perform splendidly then you might be removed from breeding duty." The zombie kings lips eyes squinted into a wicked sneer.
" No! You bastard! Get away from me!" S
he cursed at him with tear filled eyes, her body crawling backward as he made his way back to her, her hands scraping against the rough earth.
