SSS Ranked Shadow Monarch: Summoning Infinite Shadows-Chapter 218: What Transformation
Aren turned off his domain. He looked his opponent in the eye and then spoke, "Do you surrender, or is there more you want to show?" he asked, a smug look on his face.
His opponent gritted his teeth. He straightened himself, eyes burning with rage and anger.
"I’ll not allow you to disrespect me, die already!" he roared, summoning another set of two snakes, these ones as large as the previous ones but with horns on their heads. They attacked instantly.
Riker lunged at them instantly, attacking ferociously. He slashed through one instantly, while the second one tried to attack from behind. Sadly for it, Riker was too fast, spinning around and cutting it down instantly.
With the two dead, the opponent was stunned. There was nothing else in his arsenal. His best snakes were taken down so easily. He couldn’t believe it.
"Arghhhhhh!" In anger and a desperate attempt, he rushed forward to attack Aren, but Aren stepped to the side, evading him cleanly and then grabbing him by the hand and twisting it.
"Ahhhhhhhhh!" He screamed in pain as his hand was twisted.
"Do you surrender?" Aren asked.
His opponent gritted his teeth. He wanted to fight against it and not give up, but the pain was immense.
"Arghhh, I give up, please!" he cried out in pain as Aren instantly let go. His opponent fell to the ground hard, and Aren walked off.

This was the lowest possible that he could have gotten, but he wasn’t going to play into the game of Loki and start killing for some information.
He wanted to know his parents, yes, but not enough to allow himself to start treating human life as a commodity. He could never come to that, ever.
Loki, who was watching this from the stands, frowned. He saw that Aren had decided to refuse him.
"Seems the anomaly is a stubborn one. Tch, I can’t allow that now, can I?" Loki muttered. He snapped his finger and instantly something stranger happened to Aren’s opponent. He slowly rose to his feet, his entire eye turning completely black, and a dark aura seeped out of him.
Aren turned around because he saw him get up with Shadow Sense. He looked at his opponent, and he could instantly tell that something was absolutely wrong here.
"Die, die, die." His opponent said and then spread out his hands. "DIE!" he roared, and then his body started changing, twisting and turning until he turned into a giant half snake, half human right before Aren and everyone. The crowd was stunned.
’What happened to him?’ Aren wondered.
He stared at his opponent, who had completely changed. There was no way he should be capable of such a transformation. He was a summoner, not a shifter. So how was he able to turn into something else?
Aren turned toward the crowd.
There he saw Loki, staring directly at him with an ear to ear grin.
And that was when Aren understood.
Loki had interfered.
He must have realized Aren was not following the path he desired and decided to intervene. Aren frowned deeply. His first true encounter with a god, and already he had seen enough.
It was a clear definition of a god, beings who pushed others toward their desired outcomes, regardless of how those people felt.
Aren took a slow breath.
He could attempt to walk away now, but he was certain Loki would escalate things further. If Loki was willing to go this far, then there was no telling what he would do next.
The opponent, now in a grotesque snake like form, lunged forward. Fangs bared, roaring and hissing simultaneously, his scaled arms stretched toward Aren.
Aren kicked off the ground and retreated instantly, landing several feet back. He slammed his hand into the arena floor.
Lightning erupted.
Massive bolts tore through the ground, racing toward his opponent.
The transformed summoner attempted to dodge, but he wasn’t fast enough.
The lightning struck him directly, electricity surging violently through his body. He collapsed, but almost immediately forced himself back up, hissing wildly before charging again. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Aren narrowed his eyes.
The transformation hadn’t necessarily made him stronger. It had simply twisted him, turned him into something feral. A wild beast.
Aren frowned at the realization that he was being forced to play this game.
"Don’t worry," he muttered. "I’ll end this quickly."
He launched forward.
With his left hand, he unleashed a Shadow Arc of darkness that sliced through the air.
The opponent tried to evade, but the arc carved into his shoulder. Blood sprayed out instantly.
He hissed in agony, coiling and attempting to retreat.
But Aren was already behind him.
For a brief moment, Aren hesitated.
Just seconds ago, this had been a human.
Now he was being forced to kill him.
Anger flared.
Aren swung again.
Another Shadow Arc tore forward, slicing cleanly through his opponent’s neck.
The snake like body collapsed to the arena floor.
Silence fell over the entire arena.
But then
The body twitched.
And before everyone’s eyes, it began to transform once more, turning back human, with its head decapitated.
Aren thought it was normal for transformation back to human form to happen, but as he turned to leave, he noticed his group standing at the entrance of the arena, looking at him with disbelief and shock in their eyes.
’What’s wrong? Why are they staring at me?’ Aren thought, but his Shadow Sense showed him that they weren’t the only ones. Even in the crowd, everyone was looking at him with a mixture of emotions.
’Did they not see when he turned into a monster and attacked me? I needed to act,’ Aren thought.
"Aren, you killed him," Aiden, who had walked out, said. He wasn’t particularly sad, but this was unexpected for Aren to kill someone when he wasn’t really all that strong and could be easily handled.
"Yeah, he transformed and came after me," Aren replied.
"Transform? Aren, what the hell are you talking about?" Aiden asked genuinely.
