Chapter 219: Deal, again

"What do you mean what transformation?" Aren asked.

Aiden looked at him extremely confused. What was Aren even saying right now? "What are you saying, bro? Your opponent attacked you again in his weak state, and you took him down and killed him," Aiden explained.

Instantly, Aren froze. He looked at Aiden with wide eyes, confusion written all over his face. "What?" he asked, still not sure of what was happening here. He turned around and looked at the body on the ground, and then looked at everyone that was staring at him. Then he saw Loki looking right at him with a smile.

"This can’t be," Aren muttered, realizing that he might have just done something that he should never have.

Only now did he understand the eyes that were pinned on him. Only now did he get why everyone was looking at him that way.

Aren stepped back. He stared at the body for a few more seconds, and then turned around, bolting into the hallway. The group tried to stop him, but he ran faster than they could stop him.

Aren returned to the place where he had met Loki. He bent over, hands on his thighs, breathing heavily.

"What did I just do? I killed someone," he thought to himself, but then his rage shifted to Loki. He lifted his head in anger. "Where are you? Come out," Aren barked.

"Talking to a god like that? Do you want to die?" Loki asked as he appeared right beside Aren. Aren looked up with pure rage in his eyes.

"Young bastard," he roared in anger.

"Me, monster? You are the one that killed him, haha," Loki said. He stepped closer to Aren, looking him right in the eyes. "This is your first time meeting a god, right? You thought that you were special and you could fight against what I want? Hahaha," Loki said, and then circled around Aren before coming back to his front.

"I am a god, kid. Not because I came here to have fun will you think that you can refuse me. You can never refuse me. You can either do what I want or suffer the consequences, and as you have seen, the consequences are massive," Loki said, and then backed away, his smile even more twisted and diabolical.

"You think you can disobey me, right? Then watch and see how I make this entire trial harder for you, Anomaly. You need friends. You need allies. After all, everyone wants you dead. You are a risk to the safety of these trials, and you have me coming to you to make a partnership and you refused.

I am the best thing that can happen to you, the best deal you can get out of this. If you choose to be stubborn, you’ll simply walk into your death.

Don’t forget, you are an anomaly, a danger, something everyone wants dead. The only reason that I am here, Aren, is because I believe there is something interesting inside you, and I simply want to watch it," Loki said and then started walking away.

"More and more fights will happen, and you’ll now have to kill one way or the other, and now you have lost the deal that I offered to you to actually get information. Now you’ll kill for free," Loki said.

"Then I’ll not fight," Aren said.

Loki came to a stop. He turned his head and looked at Aren. "What?" he asked.

"I’ll forfeit every match after this. There is no need for me to fight at all. You know what? I’ll drop the entire tournament to the side and forget about it all. I’ll wait for the next trial," Aren said.

"You think you can simply walk away from a system initiated event?" Loki asked. "Have you forgotten that this event is now under the trial?" he asked.

"Yeah, but there was no mention that we couldn’t give up from this one, so I’ll do just that," Aren said.

"Tch, way to read between the lines. You are pretty smart," Loki said and turned around. "But I seriously don’t want to just allow you to walk away from this, after I put so much effort into it.

So here’s what is going to happen. I’ll not force you to continue this tournament, and I’ll not try to do anything to your friends as they fight their own battles, but here is what I want in return.

You must take me as your patron god. If you do, then I’ll probably be more helpful to you than when I am against you," Loki said.

"You want to be my patron god?" Aren asked.

"Yes. After all, you already have a bit of things from me. You got one of the ancient daggers of mine, and some items from Jotnar, my dimension, so if anything, you are most definitely suited for me," Loki said.

Aren looked at him. He could tell that there was more to it than what Loki was saying right now. After all, he was the god of trickery. There was surely no truth that could come from him.

Sadly, there was not much of a choice. Aren couldn’t fight against Loki. He couldn’t hope to even defeat a level hundred awakened, let alone a god.

"What do I do now? Follow his lead? Do what he wants? Do I want to be under another being? The trials, the top awakened, and now even a god? Is my life just meant to be controlled?

I am tired of it all. I want to fight back and I want to destroy them all. I need to destroy them all. I have to. No matter what, I’ll have the final laugh at the end. I’ll make sure that I destroy each and every one of them, tch."

"Wanting to kill me is valid, but could you at least try to hide your emotions? It’s really hurting my feelings to see you angry at me to the point you would want me dead," Loki said.
