Standing Next To You-Chapter 242: Taking over
Chapter 242: Taking over
The two then left.
Wang Jia looked at their disappearing figures in disbelief and doubt.
Did Lin Sunji just dismiss her?
This was the first time she saw Lin Sunji not expressing any care for her. Lin Sunji chose Bei Sangyun over her. How could that happen?
She knew her best friend Lin Sunji had always disliked Bei Sangyun. She was aware of the rivalry between them. Wang Jia also hated Bei Sangyun because she had the whole school’s admiration, respect, and fear.
So she kept pushing Lin Sunji to defeat Bei Sangyun. If there was one person who wasn’t afraid of the tyrant, that would be her friend Lin Sunji. Both were from the great Lin family, but Lin Sunji had the legal status to contend for the heirship, while Bei Sangyun came back from a backwater.
Lin Sunji had a lot more advantages and credibility than Bei Sangyun. So there was nothing for Lin Sunji to worry or be scared about.
But what’s going on?
Why did Lin Sunji follow Bei Sangyun obediently? And why did she look afraid of her?
Wang Jia noticed the changes and could not help but worry about herself. What if Lin Sunji lost? What about her future then?
Was she going to be thrown away? After all the hard work she had done?
Wang Jia bit her lips. That shouldn’t be the case, right?
Perhaps Lin Sunji also lost to a bet like her; that’s why she was submissive to Bei Sangyun. And she was in a bad mood that’s why she was like that.
Wang Jia could only cling to that kind of hope.

Zhong Cheng looked at the huge amount of money in his account and couldn’t help but smile widely. Ever since he received the money from Wang Jia, he had been checking his online bank account and staring at the staggering numbers.
When would he ever hold such a big sum of money like this?
Unlike most students in the Class 31-A, such as Wang Jia, Zhong Cheng’s family was considered a bit poor compared to the ’average’ families in high society.
Zhong Cheng did not come from a generation-rich family.
His parents were a pair of businessmen in City X, hundreds of miles away from the Capital. There, their business grew until they opened branches in other cities, eventually reaching the Capital.
In their city, they were considered rich. Zhong Cheng was able to play like a Young Master born with a golden spoon. He thought he was lucky and would be living off his family’s wealth until he grew old, leading a happy-go-lucky life.
But after migrating to the Capital, Zhong Cheng realized that he and his family were like frogs in a well. The world was wide, and there were many dragons and phoenixes that Zhong Cheng couldn’t even compare to. Especially after arriving at this school, his perception of the world widened.
Thanks to his wit and his parents’ donation, Zhong Cheng was able to enroll in the star class and meet these so-called dragons and phoenixes.
Zhong Cheng licked his lips as he stared lovingly at the numbers on the screen. Who would have thought he would be able to gain this much money so easily?
Should he create a betting channel and gain even more profits?
Zhong Cheng shook his head. No, he couldn’t do that. Once the tyrant found out that he used her to get more money in an unethical way, the boss wouldn’t be happy. Offending the boss couldn’t be compared to losing this money.
"You’re rich, Zhong Cheng." A familiar voice sounded behind him, making Zhong Cheng jump in shock.
He immediately turned off his phone and looked back, horrified.
"I-it’s n-not what y-you t-think, boss...."
Bei Sangyun raised her brow at him, "Why are you so nervous?"
Zhong Cheng stammered, "I...I am not planning anything!"
Bei Sangyun: "...."
She saw that Zhong Cheng was genuinely guilty and let it pass.
"Are you busy?"
Zhong Cheng shook his head vigorously. He was grateful Bei Sangyun did not doubt him, "No, boss. I am idle. I have a lot of time!"
Bei Sangyun nodded. She liked Zhong Cheng’s enthusiasm. "Good. I have to ask you a favor."
"Anything, boss!"
"You are the leader of my lackeys – I mean, you are the voice of the group following me, right? You know how to handle a stubborn, prideful, and troublesome lackey?"
Zhong Cheng patted his chest, "Of course, boss! I am great at disciplining troublesome people. If they dare to make trouble for the boss, I would punish them and fix them right away!"
"That’s good." Bei Sangyun was satisfied and suddenly called out behind her. "Come here."
Only now did Zhong Cheng notice that Lin Sunji was behind Bei Sangyun. He was stunned to see them together.
Lin Sunji stepped forward unwillingly.
Bei Sangyun gestured at Lin Sunji, "She is the troublemaker I am referring to. I’ll be leaving her to you."
Zhong Cheng and Lin Sunji were both shocked.
Lin Sunji’s face turned ugly, "I don’t want to follow someone like him. He doesn’t deserve to order me around!"
Zhong Cheng was overwhelmed.
Order around? Lin Sunji will fall under his care? He would fix and punish a Lin?
Zhong Cheng wasn’t keen on the idea of ordering Lin Sunji around. But it was his boss’s order. He had to trust her.
Still, he was a bit unsure.
Zhong Cheng ignored Lin Sunji’s outright mockery and whispered to Bei Sangyun, "Boss, I don’t want to disobey you, but she is a Lin. Won’t the Lin family get angry at me for ordering one of their members?"
"What are you afraid of? You represent me. I am greater than the Lin family. So you are greater than the Lin family. Got it?"
Lin Sunji could not believe her ears. Bei Sangyun dared to say she was greater than the Lin family? She was outrightly mocking the Lin blood in her! What audacity!
Unlike Lin Sunji’s disbelief, Zhong Cheng’s eyes suddenly brightened.
He immediately understood what his boss meant. He couldn’t help but tear up with gratefulness. He did not know that his boss thought highly of him!
"Boss, don’t worry! I will make sure that this stubborn, prideful troublemaker will be soft and obedient like a dog!"
Bei Sangyun turned to Lin Sunji, "From now on, Zhong Cheng will be your teacher. You have to treat him with respect. Once I hear that you disobey him or he complains about you to me, I will release one piece of material at a time. Do you understand?"
Lin Sunji gritted her teeth. She did not answer and remained glaring at Bei Sangyun.
Bei Sangyun narrowed her eyes dangerously. "You don’t want? Alright. Return for being expelled then. You have one month probation, and the whole school will know about it."
Lin Sunji clenched her fist.
Her expulsion for one month was suddenly changed by Bei Sangyun after one phone call with the principal. They allowed her to return to school after writing a bunch of essays.
Lin Sunji wanted to return to school. It would save her the embarrassing moment of being asked by her classmates why she was gone for so long.
However, the fact that she was given a pardon because of Bei Sangyun made her hate her situation even more.
Why was Bei Sangyun so powerful while she could not do anything? She felt like she was a small ant that could easily be crushed by her.
Bei Sangyun did not hear her response and took out her phone. She was about to call the Principal when Lin Sunji spoke with gritted teeth.
"...Fine."
Bei Sangyun halted her action and tilted her head with an evil smile, "If you are fine with it, then greet your teacher. A student being disciplined should be polite to his teacher, right?"
Lin Sunji’s face contorted so badly that Zhong Cheng wondered how there were people who liked this face.
Lin Sunji faced Zhong Cheng. With so much hatred in her eyes, she glared at Zhong Cheng as she greeted, "...P...Please take care of me... Teacher."
Zhong Cheng’s back went straight. He ignored the scary look on Lin Sunji’s face. "Please be at ease... Student." He said it so proudly that Lin Sunji thought of killing him in the future.
Bei Sangyun watched the two with a smile.
Actually, Bei Sangyun’s initial plan was to groom Lin Sunji personally. But it would take a lot of effort and time. She could be patient when it came to Butler Xin because she knew that once she groomed him, she would harvest a lot from him.
But with Lin Sunji, Bei Sangyun didn’t see a point as to why she needed Lin Sunji. She could just throw her away to someplace else and restrain her actions. When the time came to marry her off, then she would let her be free.
But what happens if Lin Sunji married someone with power? She might exact revenge.
As per her deal with the fourth branch, she couldn’t interrupt with their children’s growth and future prospects.
Bei Sangyun wouldn’t let Lin Sunji roam alone like that. So the best answer she could come up with was to let someone soften her before handing Lin Sunji back to her. In this way, she would be able to save time and effort.
And Zhong Cheng was a good candidate for that.
This was also a test for Zhong Cheng. Depending of the result, Bei Sangyun would like to see how big Zhong Cheng’s potential was. Then she would be able to decide the perfect role for him.
