Chapter 1589: We Are Not the Same (III)

Fog Mountain was drinking tea near the world gate when a voice traveled into his ear. “Let’s finish the agreement, senior. Make your move now. You don’t have to kill anyone, just create an enormous disturbance!”

An enormous disturbance? Fog Mountain blinked. How enormous?

“How enormous?”

“So enormous that even if the world shakes, people will only think it’s because of you guys fighting.”

Even if the world shakes? 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

Fog Mountain quickly thought things over and transmitted back, perplexed, “If the world is going to shake... Is that guy going to transport back to Skyward through the dao chess?”

“No.”

“No?” If that isn’t it, then why will the world shake?

Fog Mountain’s thoughts raced through his puzzlement. Or are you going to head out there? What good are you for if you go outside? Can you handle seventh ranks and try to ambush the Red Moon seventh ranks?

They can crush you one on one, not to mention there’s two of them outside.

The thought simply flashed through his mind; he had an agreement with Li Hao. Since Li Hao had given these orders, carrying them out would fulfill his side of the bargain. That was just as nice, it would take one thing off his plate.

“Very well! When do you want me to do it?”

“Now!”

Fog Mountain was surprised by the urgency. Alright then! He abruptly flung the world gate open, nearly smacking it into the two Red Moon exalted emperors angrily yelling on the other side. They didn’t have time to react before a tendril of fog encircled the world and filled the void.

The scene spun around them and the two seventh ranks widened their eyes with surprise. They’d lost track of each other. This was not good!

Fog Mountain had outright jumped to the offensive!

“How dare a mere Red Moon throw their weight around in Skyward Region?!” Fog Mountain roared like a thunderclap and shook the world. It took only a split second, but a massive dao universe descended upon the scene.

A giant walked out of it and slammed its palm down. The chaos transformed into a sea of fog and a mountain of clouds. Heads were giddy and eyes bleary as the chaos seemed to be an ethereal domain!

Boom!

Two red moons floated out of the fog.

“You’re crazy, Fog Mountain!” Siren exhorted. He was fighting them one on two, and had struck without any hesitation! Did he really think so little of Red Moon?! Did he think that they had no bark to their bite?!

We’re two seventh ranks! How dare you just strike like this!

Fog Mountain didn’t say a word as he reached out to block the sky with one hand. The hand turned into mountain peaks—mountains of fog. His fingers were massive curtains that obstructed the sky and transformed into five mountains towering over a sea of clouds the next second.

The sea of clouds swirled, blanketing the two red moons. When Fog Mountain clenched his hand, five towering mountains bore down on the Red Moon exalted emperors!

Suppression!

It was the fabled sight of five fingers suppressing the monkey spirit!

“You bastard!” snarled the Red Moon exalted emperors. We’re all seventh ranks here! Even though you might be a bit stronger, there’s still limits to your strength! How dare you fight us one against two! You deserve what’s coming to you!

Boom!

Two red moons smashed into the ground, breaking the five mountains. A sea of fog continued to eddy and billow around the premises.

The outright engagement of battle startled everyone. Why was this happening? Was Fog Mountain crazy? He sprang into action without further negotiations! Was Skycloud sending more powerhouses to reinforce him?

......

At the same time, Demon Summit.

Void charged into the Hall of Darkness and fished up large sums of dao crystals.

“Help me, senior!” he shouted. “Send me to Li Hao’s side. This will be an advance on my reward for five thousand squares!”

He’d been so busy lately that he hadn’t had time to further walk dao chess. He’d exited when he reached four thousand squares last time.

The shadow manifested and looked at him with a complicated mix of emotions. “Are you guys all crazy??”

It could eavesdrop on Void’s conversation with Li Hao since they were doing so through the treasure brand. That made the dao chess the primary component of their communication.

Li Hao is crazy, have you gone crazy as well? You jump straight to it when he tells you to go kill a seventh rank. What is that, if not the actions of a fool?

“Can I take an advance, senior?” Void laughed. “Teleport me if you can, don’t if you can’t! If you really can’t... I’ll take an advance on my reward for six thousand squares as well. I’ll trade two rewards for this, how about that?”

As for whether or not they could kill the seventh rank... how would they know if they didn’t try?

The Sword Sovereign was fighting a seventh rank! How interesting was that!

If he stayed to watch high ranks fight each other on Skyward, he’d only be able to fish in troubled waters. How dull would that be?

It was so much more fun to directly fight a seventh rank. He could personally be part of the action to kill a high rank. And if they succeeded, the rewards would be incredible!

If they failed... Well, the ramifications of that could wait until later.

If we fail, that means Red Moon’s not down a seventh rank. So what if they know that I was involved? Perhaps Red Moon will pretend that nothing happened!

After all, they’ll have to deal with Light knowing what happened if they don’t pretend ignorance. Light isn’t an easy target.

Void immediately ran through a list of possibilities. The Sword Sovereign was sixth rank, he was sixth rank, Li Hao was likely a fourth rank. Void would be supplemental support after he arrived—the key was the Sword Sovereign. If he succeeded, the experience of killing a seventh rank would be invaluable to his cultivation.

Cultivation wasn’t just endlessly meditating in a quiet room.

“You’re taking an advance on your reward for five thousand squares. It’ll be my loss if you die...” The shadow dropped its attempt to make Void see reason. “Forget it, you and that one... may not die. It’ll be fine if just one of you survive! You guys are crazy enough to challenge a seventh rank when you’re weaker!”

The hall trembled and a chessboard appeared in the land. Large sums of dao crystals were instantly absorbed.

Demon Summit trembled slightly, but so did the entire world. A massive battle had erupted between three seven ranks near the world gate. Who would notice a bit of trembling elsewhere?

Void was immediately sent out—the method of space!

This was a method of space transportation, one anchored by Skyward.

The disturbance wasn’t as big as one might’ve imagined. Void instantly disappeared within Skyward.

Fog Mountain seemed to sense some ripples as he fought; no one else paid attention, but he was. His eyes narrowed with thought—Void had left!

He’d gone to the Silver Moon king’s side! But why?

Fog Mountain didn’t understand and found the entire situation very strange indeed. Void should’ve wanted to stay on Skyward and see if there was an opportunity for him, but he’d run off!

......

At the same time, within the chaos outside.

A young man with a blade in his hands suddenly turned in a certain direction. He raised an eyebrow and the look glittered in his eyes. “Teleportation?”

Teleportation in the chaos?? What was this? Who could do this? The Skyward master?

Indeed, the Human King seemed to be familiar with the Skyward master.

He frowned and wanted to give that area a general hack with his blade, but decided not to after some thought. If there really a ninth rank facilitating that teleport... he couldn’t afford to offend them at the moment.

He could throw his weight around in front of seventh and eighth ranks, being as cocky as he wished, but ninth rank...

If the Skyward master is still around and he’s the one doing this, then... I’ll be deaf and dumb this one time and pretend I didn’t see anything.

It was just, the Human King was slightly bemused. Was it really the Skyward master? Was that destination area Red Moon Region?

He could finally determine direction again!

......

Aboard the ship.

Li Hao received a reply that Void would be right over. The young man breathed out with relief. If it wasn’t for witnessing Void’s power of recovery and seeing that the Sword Sovereign was directly battling a seventh rank, he wouldn’t have come up with this idea either.

But since he had and was aware of the situation, it was time to make the best out of any opportunity that presented itself.

His own powers of revitalization wouldn’t do, they were too weak. Void’s, however, were viable. The man had been a fifth rank before, he was now a sixth rank. Void could help Li Hao recover the strength of a false seventh rank in a previous fight. Although the Sword Sovereign was strong, he was only a sixth rank. Void could most likely do the same.

With Void present as well as the world of emptiness, they stood a chance of helping the Sword Sovereign take down a seventh rank. As for himself, perhaps... there was a bit of a chance.

Li Hao didn’t say a word; he waited quietly. The warship continued to race ahead.

“Stop!” the young man suddenly said. Gan Wuliang followed suit without hesitation.

Celestial Pole and the Pagoda King looked at each other with confusion. They’d been holding a transmitted conversation, wondering if fourth rank was a thick enough thigh to hold onto.

They hadn’t reached a conclusion before the ship stopped.

Li Hao’s river appeared; it shook violently as a spatial ripple grew out of it. Jaws dropped through the crowd as someone appeared in it. Void!

The man appeared with a slight smile and looked at only Li Hao. “That was accurate enough!” He walked out of the river and assessed the situation outside. “The New Martial Sword Sovereign is as his reputation stands!” He took in a slight breath.

“You can feel it too, right?” Li Hao nodded.

“Of course!”

“Can you do it?”

“Of course!” Void smiled widely. “Since I’m here already, wouldn’t it be a waste of resources and opportunity if I couldn’t? Ah, let’s be clear that all of the expenditures for this trip are on your tab. It’s going to be quite an expensive endeavor!”

“No problem, it’s on me!” Li Hao nodded, then turned to the rest. “You guys retreat near Red Moon major world first. Wait for my return and don’t enter any worlds yet. If I don’t, then... find another way to escape!”

Solemn looks could be seen on everyone’s faces. Those from Silver Moon could guess what he wanted to do; the Pagoda King had guessed as well. He looked at Li Hao with absolute shock, then at the newly appeared Void. This was a fifth or sixth rank of unknown origin! Just what exactly did these two want to do??

“Void and I are going to help the Sword Sovereign kill his opponent!” Li Hao explained before anyone could ask questions. “It’s a beautiful opportunity that may not come around again if we miss it.

“Two Red Moon seventh ranks are preoccupied at Skyward! There’s one of their five high ranks here, two over there, leaving only the Red Moon master and another seventh rank at most on their world. With a fight breaking out at Skyward, Red Moon might have to send a seventh rank over to reinforce them.

“The Red Moon master won’t dare to easily leave his world. If we keep the disturbance small, we stand a great chance of killing this guy!”

He was telling Void that it wasn’t that dangerous, that they only needed to kill one seventh rank. The eighth rank Red Moon master likely wouldn’t dare come in person. His backyard would be set on fire if he did so!

The most dangerous moment would be whether the Red Moon master would lose his mind after they killed the seventh rank. That was when he was most likely to ignore the consequences and come in person!
