Chapter 1592: Smoke Clears and Dust Settles (III)

That didn’t necessarily make the young man a direct descendant. The Sword Sovereign had no descendants of his own, whereas his grand-niece did. However, many were those with a Li surname in the world. They’d populated Silver Moon back in the day.

He didn’t sense a dense Li family bloodline from Li Hao, but was still gratified all the same that the new king of Silver Moon was also surnamed Li.

“Not bad!” smiled the Sword Sovereign. The imposing killing intent around him dissipated slightly. Although the situation was dangerous beyond compare, so what of it?

Since the new king dared and could enter the battlefield, that was a sign of his capabilities. The Sword Sovereign was quite delighted and didn’t find it untoward at all. He’d seen more than his fair share of brash people, such as the Human King.

If the Human King was here, he would absolutely rush in without hesitation. Hence, the Sword Sovereign was very used to these kinds of situations taking place.

He didn’t think that the newcomers were here to hold him back, either.

Clarity laughed and wafted Red Moon strength in all directions, turning the void red. Immense power of desire rammed into the world, turning the very void into a miasma of desire.

“Although I didn’t capture an existence like the Sun God, the three of you seem to be just as good as a seventh rank!”

In front of him was the Sword Sovereign, a cultivator of seventh rank strength. Li Hao, the king of Silver Moon. Void, the crown prince of Light. Today was a good day!

If he could capture all three of them, Void might become the key to Light allying with Red Moon. With the Silver Moon king in his hand, the seizure of Silver Moon world wouldn’t be too far away, which meant the same for the New Martial main world!

Killing the Sword Sovereign would mean exterminating a seventh rank rival ahead of time, one who would be invincible among his peerage!

This is wonderful! Even the heavens are helping me!

“We should save this for later,” laughed the Sword Sovereign. “A strong enemy is in front of us—we can discuss anything later. Today, let’s focus on eradicating him!”

Though he talked tough, his real meaning was that we’ve met and identified each other, so let’s run away first! We can chat after!

Boom!

Incredible sword qi erupted, pulverizing the Red Moon strength in the void!

A sword of a myriad daos appeared from the word, hurtling straight for Clarity. The latter, however, laughed. It was much weaker than before; the Sword Sovereign had expended too much energy.

He waved a horde of scarlet shadows into being. Most of them rushed the Sword Sovereign, only a small portion headed for Li Hao and Void.

Let this be the end of things!

These scarlet shadows were comprised of Red Moon strength and burrowed domineeringly into the great dao. Countless shadows circled around the longsword like locusts, all of them gnawing and nibbling away at it.

Dips and pockmarks riddled the weapon; the strength of a myriad daos was no longer that stable. It began drifting apart, some of it turning into Red Moon power and betraying its master.

Li Hao and Void acted in concert once more. Under attack from scarlet shadows, the long river abruptly broke apart and fell silent. This time, however, it seemed to be strained beyond its limits. The river convulsed violently and rammed through the world of emptiness.

Bloody dragons shot at Li Hao and Void.

The river transformed into a longsword that resembled the one in the Sword Sovereign’s hands. Dao stars gathered in the void and assembled in the shape of a sword.

“This junior presents his sword for the Sword Sovereign to assess!” Li Hao called out.

The sword struck!

It swept through the world with a rumble, crashing through numerous scarlet shadows. They fell apart as the cycle of life and death operated; the bloody dragons were assimilated by the river. The Sword Sovereign was just about to warn the young man when the river struggled, bucking Li Hao’s command.

The dao river might be taken over if there was too much Red Moon strength in it.

However, a corresponding surge of destruction rose in the river and transformed into a longsword. If the thunder and lightning of great dao could defeat Red Moon strength, then a chaos tribulation could naturally do the same. A destructive force materialized within the waters.

Kaboom!

A series of breaking sounds traveled from the river, making the scarlet color recede. Clarity registered the sight with a tilt of his head and laughed. The young man had something up his sleeves!

But that was all there was to him. Clarity’s main attention was on the Sword Sovereign—he’d only brought one tenth of his strength to bear against these two. They were strong enough among mid ranks, but what of it?

The Sword Sovereign didn’t say anything, his thoughts were preoccupied with how to flee with those two. Since they’d come to him, they had to go with him. Was that old bastard Zhang going to create an opportunity for him or not?

The addition of these two was in itself a chance, but he couldn’t leave them behind after learning that they were on his side. He would’ve long run off otherwise. There was no chance to do so now.

Li Hao ignored everything else and looked at Void. The latter didn’t need him to say anything; he vanished in the river. He wasn’t here for show, he’d come to kill a seventh rank.

Void reappeared in an unoccupied spot—the world of emptiness began furiously expanding until it occupied all available space! He crushed rays of sword intent and Red Moon power with emptiness. When it stretched toward Sword Sovereign, the latter didn’t do anything apart from raising an eyebrow.

But when it reached Clarity, the world broke apart!

Void gave a muffled grunt, not minding the setback. It was enough that the world of emptiness enveloped the Sword Sovereign. He wasn’t familiar with the Sword Sovereign, but that was fine. Li Hao was close to him.

Well, no, that wasn’t the case either.

Void carried a Source of Light on him and could help a fifth or sixth rank recover their strength. It... would most likely be ineffective on the Sword Sovereign though, because the man was not an ordinary sixth rank.

“I have long heard of the senior’s illustrious name.” Void smiled at the Sword Sovereign. “Today... I will demonstrate a thing or two on Li Hao’s behalf. You will see that his friend is not an incompetent sort!”

It was like he was meeting the parents; Void’s wording was slightly special. In actuality, all the man wanted to achieve was to ensure that Li Hao didn’t lose face in front of New Martial. He would prove that the young man’s friends weren’t trash!

The Sword Sovereign didn’t understand; Clarity was likewise baffled. Their eyes widened the next second—the domain of emptiness was no longer silent. Void’s dao strength had been spontaneously defeated.

Inside the world of emptiness, a small flower appeared beneath the Sword Sovereign’s feet. His instinctive reaction was to avoid it, but Li Hao transmitted, “There’s no need to worry!”

The Sword Sovereign halted. Not moving was a very dangerous decision to make because he wasn’t familiar with Void. The latter was from another major world, even.

However, the Sword Sovereign elected not to move. They’d met by chance like patches of drifting wood. Since Void was here, this was their moment of shared destiny. And with Li Hao from Silver Moon present, whether it was a moment of negligence or unwarranted confidence, the Sword Sovereign chose to remain in place.

The little flower appeared beneath his feet and seemed to take root in his heels. The Sword Sovereign didn’t even have time to think of anything before the look in his eyes changed. His dao strength that’d been depleted moments prior seemed to be revitalizing!

Endless dao strength was bursting out of him. He’d been on the verge of collapse moments before, but now brimmed with vitality. Boom!

Clarity sensed something amiss after this loud disruption and opted for a direct attack. His eyes were wide with dismay!

This was revitalization, damn it! He understood now! This Void had comprehended two daos of extreme ends—emptiness and revitalization! This was very bad. Once the Sword Sovereign fully recovered, it would be an extreme threat for him.

“Lifeless!” An exuberant Sword Sovereign madly thrust out with his sword. He hadn’t fully recovered, but he was back to ninety percent of peak condition!

This meant that he could fight again. However... he hadn’t been able to kill his opponent even when he was in peak form. He wouldn’t be able to do so now. Running away was still key, because the Sword Sovereign had noticed that Void seemed to be drained of all energy.

Clearly, the revitalization technique was an enormous consumption of the man’s resources.

......

Void breathed heavily, summoning a Source of Light into his hand. He immediately absorbed it. The Sword Sovereign wouldn’t be able to recover if he took it, but Void could instantly return to his previous condition. This meant that he could help the Sword Sovereign recover again.

Void knew that he wasn’t here as a main offensive force, he was just here as support. Thus, he immediately backed away after helping the Sword Sovereign recover. He didn’t dare meet a seventh rank’s attack head-on—he’d be dead without a doubt.

What he’d done was enough. He was the super healer among the trio, and that was sometimes the key to victory.

“A Source of Light!” Clarity snarled when he saw the item. Damn that bastard to hell! He hadn’t thought that void would really be able to revitalize someone! Damn it! Although he still wasn’t afraid, the Sword Sovereign had recovered most of his strength now.

Both of them had been injured the first time around. If they went for another round or two... Clarity would suffer significant injuries even if he killed these people.

That wouldn’t do!

The Sword Sovereign couldn’t be permitted to have another chance. Clarity immediately made up his mind to neutralize the Sword Sovereign first. He could not permit Void another chance to revitalize the man. The trouble would be too great then.

There weren’t that many Sources of Light to go around—one was born every one hundred thousand years. Not even the world of Light would possess that many, so Clarity didn’t think Void had any more.

Surely one was the absolute limit.

The man ignored Li Hao. Compared to Void, what was a fourth rank worth? No matter how much potential he had, it was just potential!

Boom!

Sword intent erupted and shook the world. A lifeless world appeared with the slash of the sword and all of existence seemed to quiet down. Void’s eyes widened and he sucked in a sharp breath as he stared at the sword. This move bore the intent of emptiness!

He’d thought that he was just here to observe a fight between seventh ranks and be the team’s healer, but he’d just witnessed the great emptiness that ensued from the Sword Sovereign’s sword intent!

Boom!

Clarity backed away, looking around wildly. The sword intent was obliterating everything, annihilating and silencing everything in its wake.

Void stared raptly, beside himself with excitement. This trip had been well worth it!

Of course, he didn’t forget about Li Hao either. What was the young man doing? Was he going to borrow strength again? From who?

In Void’s eyes, Li Hao was far from being able to participate in this battle. He could only do so through borrowing strength. Otherwise... there was nothing the young man could do. Taking advantage of the opening created by Clarity in retreat, he cast a sidelong glance at Li Hao.

The young man didn’t seem to be preparing to borrow strength. He was setting up some sort of boundary that emanated a unique presence in the void. It felt a bit like a dao domain and seemed to seal off the premises.

But... you’re a fourth rank. A domain like this will easily be crushed. What are you doing this for?

It was the dao of hiding! Li Hao wished to set up a unique domain to hoodwink the chaos—not in preparation for the seventh rank. He just wanted to bring the surroundings under his purview.

“Get ready to run!” came the Sword Sovereign’s voice in their ear. Clearly, he thought that there was unlikely to be a second revitalization. Even if there was... truth be told, the odds of him killing a seventh rank were very low.

It came down to a lack of offensive strength. He couldn’t kill a seventh rank, he could only fight against one. And yet, they couldn’t continue like this forever. The seventh rank likely had his eyes on Void at the moment. If it looked like Void was going to revitalize the Sword Sovereign again, the man would be dead before he could attempt to do so.

Should we run?
