Chapter 1595: The Perils of the Martial World (II)

Aside from the three Red Moon seventh ranks on two battlefields, there was one more apart from the Red Moon master. There were five premier exalted emperors at Red Moon.

The last one, however, patrolled the borders of Red Moon and would not be easily summoned back. It was a patrol in name and show of deterrence in actuality. He was to intimidate the major worlds that were newly migrated to Red Moon territory.

Unease was starting to settle into the Red Moon master. He couldn’t summon the patrolling seventh rank back as that would enable the surrounding major worlds to detect Red Moon’s unease and helplessness.

The e other worlds were allies for the moment, but might swiftly turn into locusts once they sensed Red Moon’s weakness! These masters of major worlds were here to seek succor from Red Moon. If they discovered that the world was more feeble than they’d thought... who wouldn’t be tempted by an eighth rank world?

That was a prize more tempting than New Martial!

Would these worlds be docile and biddable without strength to keep them in line? The Red Moon master was stuck between a rock and a hard place. His head threatened to explode—why was this??

How had the situation turned into this?

How could the Human King have gone to Skyward? Even if he had, two seventh ranks shouldn’t have been spontaneously killed either. And yet, such was the truth. The Red Moon master didn’t know that Fog Mountain had made the first move to draw their attention. The clash between the two sides was what created an opening for the Human King!

Outside Skyward.

The Human King threw his head back with laughter after hacking a seventh rank to death with one stroke. He was catching his breath as well. It wasn’t that easy to execute a seventh rank in a split second, not easy at all!

He’d actually depleted all of his strength for a moment, just to ensure that the outcome was what he strove for. He liked to take risks and was used to taking risks. He couldn’t borrow strength from the Ash Emperor either because he was vaguely aware that that side was plotting something.

So for a moment, if the Red Moon master had dared descend in person, the Human King would’ve been dead without a doubt!

However, the Red Moon master chose not to.

The Human King grew ever more brazen in light of that and drew up his sleeves with a flourish. He roared with mirth at how cowardly the Red Moon master was! How could one win without taking risks? This guy was too much of a wuss!

“Hahaha!” hooted the Human King and watched the fleeing seventh rank. He didn’t make a move. Outsiders thought he was jeering at the Red Moon master when in reality... he couldn’t move. Otherwise, would his enemy get away?

What kind of joke was that?

He would never let anyone flee if he could kill them! That was nonsense! He wouldn’t let a single one of them survive!

The Human King could only chase after his enemy without any real strength to his name. He was concerned that others would see through his true condition. There were more than one or two seventh ranks in the surroundings—he could sense them. There were at least five or six. They might mob him the moment he displayed any hint of fragility, particularly given the mysteries of Yin and Yang.

And yet, the Human King continued on his brazen, overweening way. He peered loftily in the four directions. “What’s a bunch of trash looking at?”

He was so cockily self-assured, as if no one could pose a challenge to him in the world.

“I killed a piece of trash to intimidate Red Moon,” he sneered. “Are there any among you who do not accept this?”

No one made a sound. Even Fog Mountain was exceedingly quiet and on guard. They were both peak seventh ranks, but the one in front of him... made him feel a certain degree of threat and pressure. This was a terrifying fellow!

The New Martial Human King!

No wonder he dared declare war on the eighth rank Red Moon, despite being a seventh rank master of the world himself. A seventh rank was dead at his feet!

The Human King’s eyes seemed to be at the top of his head; he ignored Fog Mountain and looked around, scanning Skyward and the fleeing Red Velarium.

“So this is the place that you guys wanted to come to? This king sees a lot of people gathered here. What is this place?”

“......” Are you serious, or are you pretending? You came here without knowing where it was and started killing?

Fog Mountain recovered his composure and said, “This is Skyward major world!”

“Skyward?” The Human King seemed to be ignorant of the situation. “What is Skyward?”

“......” Fog Mountain felt that there was no need for further conversation. A premier exalted emperor of Red Moon Region is saying that he doesn’t know Skyward, that he’s unaware of the only major world in the surrounding regions to ever produce a ninth rank exalted emperor. What can I say to that?

He even wondered if the previous actions he’d been asked to take were due to an accord that the Silver Moon king had reached with the New Martial Human King. It was too much of a coincidence otherwise!

He might be on the losing end of the bargain. The original agreement had been that he just needed to create some upheaval. But now he’d manufactured an opportunity for the Human King to kill people. No matter what he gained or did not gain from this venture, he was on the hook for the blame!

And he needed to shoulder all of it!

This... was not the outcome that he wanted. He could kill people, but he needed to gain something for his efforts and not just shoulder blame for free. As Fog Mountain watched the fleeing Red Velarium, he decided to transmit, “Let’s be frank, Human King of New Martial! You took advantage of the distraction I created to kill one of the seventh ranks. I’ll consider it even if you and I work in tandem to kill the other one. But the second one is mine!”

“......” The Human King stared. What the hey now?

Those three had indeed been fighting, but he could tell that it wasn’t a struggle to the death. They’d simply been sparring with each other.

Are you really going to kill someone now? What kind of conspiracy is this? Are you plotting against me? Trying to kill me? Or are you trying to test me? Do you know that I’m out of energy!

A multitude of thoughts popped into the supposedly impulsive Human King’s mind. All sorts of plots, stratagems, killing methods, and ambushes flashed through his mind’s eyes.

“You guys took advantage of me first,” came the other’s voice again. “My previous agreement with the Silver Moon king cannot stand as is! Not to mention, Red Moon is your enemy to begin with. Human King, he’ll get away soon if you don’t make a move!”

The Silver Moon king? What what what?

The Human King had guessed at some things; he was just surprised that the little fellow could come to an agreement with a seventh rank. How had he managed to lull Fog Mountain into agreeing?

Indeed, the Human King thought that Li Hao could’ve only utilized some sort of deception to lull Fog Mountain. He’s kinda like me!

I deceived... ahem, conned... well, no, my sincerity spoke to a lot of people. So this unknown Silver Moon king did the same with this seventh rank?

Hmm, not bad, he bears the style of New Martial. As expected of a world born of New Martial!

These thoughts flashed through his mind before the Human King transmitted, “I’m going to prevent the Red Moon master from coming to us. You kill that one!”

“......” Fog Mountain blinked. You’re not going to make a move?

“I’m working with New Martial’s main world to jointly fend off the Red Moon master at the moment. Why else do you think he’s not here? You can go kill that guy, the Red Moon master won’t dare come here—that’s my compensation for your effort!”

That... made a bit of sense. So the Red Moon master was being threatened, no wonder he wasn’t doing anything. That meant... there was a chance here!

Fog Mountain vanished, percolating fog and mist throughout the world. He moved so quickly that he vanished in the blink of an eye. The masters of the worlds in the surroundings blinked with astonishment.

“You want to run?? Let’s see where you try to get to!” snorted the Human King. “Skycloud has allied with Red Moon to secretly target New Martial. Do you really think that this king is unaware of that?” 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Fog Mountain paused in his hot pursuit. You know! You know me? No, I’ve never met you before.

Countless thoughts popped into his mind, as well as a bit of fear. It wasn’t the feeling of invincibility he had when facing Void and the others, but only fear and unease.

This New Martial Human King knew everything. He just played the fool in normal times! It took only the blink of an eye for him to create an appropriate excuse for his actions.

“That’s an issue for the masters of the worlds,” Fog Mountain growled in response. “It has nothing to do with me. Human King of New Martial, you are the master of a world. What is the meaning in the strong bullying the weak?”

With that, he shot ahead and vibrated his great dao to transmit, “We need to work together, Red Velarium, or we’ll both die! Hold on for a bit before the Skycloud master arrives!”

“......” Red Velarium had his heart in his throat and didn’t dare stop. Yet, Fog Mountain’s words reminded him of the alliance between their two worlds. At the same time, Fog Mountain had attacked them earlier...

Granted, he could also tell that the Human King’s blow had been meant for Fog Mountain. Thus, it would seem that the Human King was aware of the alliance between Skycloud and Red Moon. He was here for Fog Mountain, but the two of them were unlucky to be caught in the crossfire.

The Human King wanted to hunt down Fog Mountain now—should he stop and help the man? Could they wait for the Skycloud master to rescue them? As for his own world master... perhaps the Red Moon master really had encountered trouble. He wouldn’t ignore Siren’s death otherwise.

With those thoughts in mind, Red Velarium hesitated.

“Quickly now, and play for a bit of time for me,” Fog Mountain swiftly transmitted through notes of great dao. “If I fall, you won’t be long thereafter. Light major world is ahead of us, they may have reached an agreement. The Light crown prince has a deep relationship with the Silver Moon king. Do you want to be killed by Light?”

Red Velarium hesitated only for a brief moment before agreeing to work in tandem. There was no reason for Fog Mountain to do anything to him. As for his actions before... they might have been for Skyward. Fog Mountain might have moved against them in order to claim Skyward’s dao universe for himself.

That would explain things. But now as he faced a crisis of life and death, a powerhouse that’d killed multiple seventh ranks, what did a dao universe matter?

Staying alive was the most important!
