Star Odyssey-Chapter 3586: An Opportunity
Chapter 3586: An Opportunity
Chu Yi understood. "So, when you accepted Yellowy as a disciple all those years ago, you also had the intention of making up for something?"
The Origin Progenitor chuckled. "There was no need to make up for anything. Our positions were different. Primordial Skyflame Beast wanted to lead the astral beasts to completely dominate the Origin Universe and even the rest of the megaverse. How could humanity survive in such a place? That beast needed to be killed."
"Then are you saying that you accepted Yellowy as your disciple in order to establish balance in the relationship between the astral beasts and humans?" Lu Yin asked.
The Origin Progenitor said, "It wasn’t exactly that either. Yellowy didn't want to be my disciple. He was an astral beast with his own pride. He believed that he needed to lead the astral beasts and preserve their survival, so I gave him that purpose. Otherwise, given the strength that Yong Heng and I possessed back then, we could have easily wiped out all the astral beasts.
"The reason why I accepted Yellowy as a disciple is because no one race can completely dominate the megaverse. There is a predetermined fate that cannot be seen. I didn't allow my disciples to reach the Origin realm back then because of what I felt. After the Origin realm is overcoming Dukkha, and when they reached that point, it would bring about an overall change in the strength of the Tianyuan Megaverse. No one had any idea what would happen then."
The Origin Progenitor sighed. "My original plan was to wait until I became an Immortal before allowing my disciples to break through. Who would have thought that I would end up being outsmarted by the Spirit Nidus? Had I known the truth back then, it would have been better to allow them to break through one by one. At least they wouldn’t have been so powerless when dealing with Aeternus then."
Lu Yin looked down at Wilderness God, who was still fighting against Emperor Wu. The matters of the past were so complicated. If the Origin Progenitor had never accepted Wilderness God as a disciple, then there would have never been any resentment from the astral beasts towards humanity, because they would have simply been eradicated and left with no ability to resist. Wilderness God did not even know about this because the astral beasts had instead been enslaved. He had always blamed humanity, but he also carried a powerful affection for the Origin Progenitor.
Lu Yin let out a bitter sigh. Emotions were truly the most complex thing; when it came to giving and receiving emotions, who was right, and who was wrong?
There was no reason to further any dwell on the matter. The events had already transpired, and Wilderness God had even died once. The knot in his heart had been undone. However, as for the matter of killing the Primordial Skyflame Beast, the Origin Progenitor still needed to be honest with Wilderness God, but that was their personal affair.
The Origin Progenitor’s words about sensing something unseen had also caught Lu Yin's attention. At the Origin Progenitor’s level of strength, nothing would happen without a purpose. The man must have sensed something.
The fact that he had forbidden the Three Realms and Six Daos from breaking through and strengthening the Tianyuan Megaverse had been a subconscious decision. There had to be a reason for it, but the current era’s perspective showed that it would have been better to allow the breakthroughs to naturally occur. In that case, what had happened to the feeling that had caused the Origin Progenitor’s decision? Had it disappeared, or had it simply not arrived yet?
Lu Yin's expression deepened as he continued thinking about things.
Down below, Wilderness God, having been reborn, was able to stand firm against Emperor Wu. Previously, Emperor Wu could have crushed the astral beast with a single palm, but that had become impossible now.
The two fought with their various powers across the land of the Primal Beastland. Shockingly, Wilderness God did not fall to a disadvantage.
Lu Yin's eyes lit up. Given the fact that Wilderness God represented the most powerful astral beast from their megaverse, it should be expected for him to be able to stand up to Emperor Wu. However, Wilderness God could only succeed against the power that Emperor Wu had revealed so far. It was important to note that Emperor Wu had not yet used additional methods, nor even revealed the beast-form that he had received from his Spirit Rebirth.
In his human form, Emperor Wu was no longer able to suppress Wilderness God, and it was clear to everyone watching.
A blue and red liquid covered Wilderness God's body, and that liquid completely blocked all of Emperor Wu's power. Because of that, it felt like all of his attacks were completely ineffective.
This was a sensation that Emperor Wu’s opponents had always suffered against him, but this was the first time that he had ever experienced the sensation for himself.
His fight with Wilderness God had already lasted much longer than the fight with Astral Anura. Emperor Wu had already forgotten his irritation from suffering a surprise attack from the toad, and was instead focused solely on Wilderness God. The power the astral beast was demonstrating was equal to any of the Seven Seraphs, and had thus earned Emperor Wu's full attention.
If it’s this much...
Emperor Wu stretched out a hand, and a massive long blade slowly appeared in his grip. The back of the blade was lined with serrated teeth, while its front had a sharp edge that gleamed with a cold light.
The moment the serrated blade appeared, countless creatures throughout the Primal Beastland felt a chill.
Above Boundless, Lu Yin's eyes instantly narrowed. Just looking at the blade was enough to sense its sharpness, but the cold light was also concealing something within the blade. Was the serrated blade Emperor Wu's spirit weapon?
Old Tao clicked his tongue in surprise. "To think that Wilderness God was able to force Emperor Wu to use his serrated blade. Wilderness God is quite impressive."
"Is that blade powerful?" Chu Yi asked.
Yuan Qi spoke up, "Bringing out that blade is proof that Emperor Wu feels somewhat helpless against Wilderness God.
"Emperor Wu is most renowned for his defense, which is nearly impossible to break through. Even when he is surrounded by Dukkhans, his defenses could not be broken, allowing him to remain undefeated. However, Wilderness God happens to possess equally impressive defenses. Given how strong both sides’ defenses seem to be, the fight will be determined by defense, but deciding a winner will take too much time.
"It’s because he once faced this situation that Emperor Wu crippled himself after becoming a sequence powerhouse and restarted his cultivation. When he underwent his Spirit Rebirth, he obtained that serrated blade, which compensated for his lack of attack power.
"Bringing out that serrated blade shows Emperor Wu's respect for Wilderness God."
Lu Yin was caught off guard. "He recultivated from the beginning?"
Yuan Qi nodded. "Emperor Wu is even older than I am. His beast-form Spirit Rebirth granted him an innate gift that makes his defenses impregnable. However, while no one was able to overcome his defenses, he was also unable to overpower strong opponents. Thus, he decided to recultivate."
It took tremendous willpower to recultivate.
At present, Yong Heng was also recultivating, but he had not been given any choice in the matter. Recultivating was Yong Heng’s only way to break free from the Great Sovereign's Six Paths of Reincarnation Realm. If he had not done so, he would have been surrounded and killed in the Tianyuan Megaverse.
There was also Progenitor Chen, who had recultivated his sequence particles multiple times. Lu Yin could not help but admire such perseverance.
Emperor Wu turned out to be another impressive individual who had recultivated his power.
For the residents of the Primal Beastland, the appearance of the serrated blade caused all of the beast-form Spirit Rebirths to stare at Wilderness God with completely different expressions from before. The fact that Emperor Wu had been forced to use his serrated blade meant that there was no doubt as to Wilderness God’s exceptional power.
Yi Die and Jiu Weihu exchanged glances. Even if they faced off against Emperor Wu, they might not be able to force him to use his serrated blade. Emperor Wu could suppress the vast majority of cultivators with brute strength. Wilderness God was extraordinarily powerful, but just how many other impressive individuals were still aboard Boundless? Wilderness God was only the second challenger.
Was this the true strength of the Tianyuan Megaverse?
It was no wonder why the High Seraph had agreed to allow the Third Boss to hold the title of Seraph. It seemed possible that even the High Seraph was leery of the power of the Tianyuan cultivators.
Hssss.
Blood sprayed across the ground as the serrated blade sliced out and opened a wound across Wilderness God's body. Not even the blue and red liquid could stop the blade.
Wilderness God was surprised. "A subtle slash."
Emperor Wu calmly replied, "Reactive defenses."
He then smirked. "I am destined to be your nemesis."
With that, the serrated blade sliced out again.
Above Boundless, the Origin Progenitor's expression changed. "Yellowy can't endure any longer."
Before, Wilderness God had not cared about the attacks that would kill him, but the Origin Progenitor was clear that his mentality had changed. This was because he had previously fought against Primordial Skyflame Beast.
"The blue and red liquid covering Primordial Skyflame Beast’s body grows stronger in the face of direct force. Back then, neither Yong Heng nor I could break it, and we struggled greatly. However, Emperor Wu’s serrated blade is actually capable of subtle attacks. While it looks like a sharp blade, it is actually a fluid. The two are of the same nature, but one is for defense while the other is for offense. Emperor Wu already surpasses Yellowy’s power, which means that right now, he can be considered his natural nemesis."
"Master, have Yellowy come back. He’s done his best," Chu Yi asked anxiously.
The Origin Progenitor nodded. "He really has. That Emperor Wu is incredibly powerful, and even now, he has only revealed his serrated blade."
Old Tao bitterly stated, "Emperor Wu's greatest strength is his defense, but he has also developed his Limitless Destruction battle technique and controls the second ranked sequence base, Heaven's Seal. He is one of the few beings in the Spirit Nidus who is understood to be capable of challenging the High Seraph."
The Spirit Nidus had ten sequence bases, and the second ranked one, Heaven's Seal, had been built from the sequence particles of 299 powerhouses from throughout the ages. Each one had cultivated either Finite Strength or Infinite Strength sequence techniques, and every last one of them had been a beast-form Spirit Rebirth.
Heaven's Seal was the sequence base that belonged to the beast-form Spirit Rebirths, and it could only be used by such cultivators.
It had always stayed in Emperor Wu's control.
His strength was already absolutely terrifying, but the addition of Heaven's Seal would likely push him above even Lu Yin, let alone Wilderness God, in terms of raw physical strength.
Bringing out his serrated blade did not mean that Emperor Wu was using his trump cards. In fact, contrary to that, it meant that Wilderness God was not powerful enough to force Emperor Wu to use his sequence base.
When someone with invincible defenses faced off against Emperor Wu, they might not lose, but it would also be incredibly difficult to defeat Emperor Wu. After all, his forte was precisely his defenses.
"Senior Wilderness God, if you could enter Dukkha now, would you choose to do so?" Lu Yin suddenly called out.
Both the Origin Progenitor and Chu Yi turned to look at Lu Yin in confusion. "You want Yellowy to enter Dukkha right now?"
Lu Yin glanced over at the Origin Progenitor. "It’s worth a try. If Senior Wilderness God doesn’t want to, then he can just come back. After all, this was never intended to be a battle to defeat Emperor Wu. We’ve already fought long enough. Someone will bring us Wu Ji soon."
The Origin Progenitor’s brow furrowed as he looked back downward.
As Wilderness God faced Emperor Wu's serrated blade, his body was continuously being sliced apart. If this fight continued, Wilderness God would have to either retreat or die. freewёbnoνel.com
After all, his opponent was Emperor Wu, the strongest of the Spirit Nidus’s Seven Seraphs. This was someone who represented almost the pinnacle of power in the megaverse. The fact that Wilderness God had managed to endure for so long was already enough to cause everyone from the Spirit Nidus to grow wary. This was someone who possessed the strength necessary to compete for the title of Seraph, and stepping back would not be disgraceful.
Overcoming Dukkha was a process, rather than a cultivation realm. It was impossible to say if entering Dukkha would be good or bad for a given individual. Not even the Origin Progenitor could do such a thing, let alone Wilderness God himself. No one knew what his Dukkha might be.
It was possible that his personality would reverse, much like Bao Qi, or he might suffer from some kind of internal demon.
In terms of his cultivation, Wilderness God was certainly qualified to enter Dukkha. All of the Three Realms and Six Daos, as well as people like Lu Tianyi and Forgotten Ruins God, who had cultivated since the ancient Heavens Sect era, could enter Dukkha. It simply depended on whether they were willing to do so or not.
The Origin Progenitor could not make this decision for Wilderness God.
Chu Yi could not stop himself from shouting at Wilderness God, "Yellowy, come back! This is enough!"
Wilderness God ignored the man and instead attacked Emperor Wu with sequence particles. However, Emperor Wu casually pushed them aside with one hand. His serrated blade slashed out, opening up a massive, bleeding wound on Wilderness God's body. Unfazed, Wilderness God spun around and attacked the blade with his powerful claws. There was enough power in this attack to force even Emperor Wu to take a step back. This was Wilderness God’s improved strength from his sequence particles. Without that boost, he would not be even close to matching Emperor Wu's strength.
Every time he counterattacked, Wilderness God’s strength increased. Even though his sequence particles were being suppressed by Emperor Wu and easily torn apart, they still improved Wilderness God's power.
Unfortunately, all of his efforts were meaningless before the serrated blade. Each slash opened up more and more wounds. The land below was stained red, and the blood even started to melt the stones when it splattered out. All of the spectators pulled back.
The various beast-form Spirit Rebirths from the Primal Beastland stared at Wilderness God with respect, rather than pure hostility. His tenacity and determination, as well as the fact that he possessed the power to fight against Emperor Wu, had earned him everyone’s respect.
Above Boundless, the Origin Progenitor shook his head. "He has already died once. While his emotional knot has been undone, he is now being controlled by the pride of Primordial Skyflame Beast. Back when Yong Heng and I fought that creature, it had a chance to escape, but it chose not to. Instead, it insisted on fighting us to the death. Eventually, we killed it.
"Primordial Skyflame Beast ruled the universe after Stillstorm disappeared. The beast ruled an entire era, and the pride and arrogance etched into its bones did not allow for any sort of retreat."
Lu Yin sighed. "Then we'll have to give Senior Wilderness God another chance."
He then looked over in a certain area, and Shao Chen stepped forward.
