Starting With SSS-rank: I Get A New Skill Every Livestream-Chapter 12: Only unawakened
The realisation struck him hard.
His whole family was a Nightwalker, which means they had been hiding something from him. His entire life he had assumed his family was normal. But now...
’Are you certain, system?’
[It’s not my eyes, host, that can tell their connection to the Aether World.]
True...he could see it, the fine vines of Genesis running down his mother’s body.
Well, not currently, since he had turned his God’s Eye off, given that it was straining him, his eyes burned, and he had started to sweat too.
"This was an accident, a planned one." His mother finally spoke, her voice low, "There is someone involved from his company who organized this accident that resulted in this."
Kyle lowered his head...how true those words were.
While he knew that this wasn’t an accident and something had injured his brother, it was her words implying that someone had betrayed his brother.
People generally speak the truth, though not directly, when they are vulnerable.
Kyle turned towards his mother and asked, "Has that person been caught?"
The woman shook her head, "He ran away...but authorities are searching for him." Holding Kyle’s hand with her trembling one, she added, "Don’t worry, Kyle...he is safe now..."
Kyle sighed before pulling her in a hug as he saw tears again welling up in her eyes.
Her body trembled and it was understandable.
Despite her cold and strict personality, Kyle couldn’t deny that she has a soft heart.
He had seen her wailing back when he was cornered and thrashed by several older men because he won an archery contest against them.
Rubbing her back gently, he voiced, "What did the doctor say? How long will it take for him to recover?"
There were two responses,
"Soon...maybe a few weeks."
[He wouldn’t recover, host. The damage has been dealt.]
Kyle frowned, ’You mean...those dark knots I saw...they would remain like that for life?’
[Indeed, host. Unless there is a high-ranked healer in this world, your brother will most probably become weaker with time, having his Arcane Circuits damaged.]
Kyle gritted his teeth, ’How bad are we talking about?’
[Initially, he would suffer from constant Genesis fluctuation, given his body would try to work in the same manner it had all his life. That would cause him immense pain and he might black out multiple times a day. Later, when his aether veins would try to regulate Genesis normally, the lack of Arcane Circuits would prevent the flow and thus your brother would possibly fail to chant any spell.]
[As time would go by, the irregular flow of Genesis would cause organ failure and possibly affect his immunity too.]
Kyle’s heart turned heavy, ’Why organ failure? Isn’t this whole Genesis thing detached from his physical body?’
[No, host. When you awaken as a Nightwalker, each of your organs gets nourished by Genesis, making the golden dust a very significant part of one’s life. Think of Genesis as significant as blood in one’s body.]
Kyle took a strong gulp, ’So...sooner than later...he...’
Kyle couldn’t bring himself to finish that, his throat turning dry and chest excessively heavy as if someone had put a grindstone on it.
"Kyle?" His mother called out, seeing his younger son’s face turning pale.
Kyle shook his head and got up, "I just...need a moment."
His breathing was slightly rough as he made his way into the bathroom—only after glancing at his brother once.
Once inside, Kyle rested his hands on the side of the sink and leaned his head down.
"Haah..." He was handling things much worse than his past self would have expected him to.
There was no doubt that his parents were aware of what Blake’s future held for him...he couldn’t even begin to imagine what they must be going through at the moment.
"What can I do for him, System? Can you search for a medic who can cure him?"
[There is a possibility that a Saint-rank Nightwalker exists. However, for that, the host would need to physically wander the world. As of now, God’s Eye has not developed enough to scan the entire sphere.]
Kyle groaned. "That won’t do... Blake doesn’t have that much time left."
Despite the bitterness Kyle carried toward his brother, it was undeniable that Blake was still family. He might be a prick, but he had pulled Kyle out of countless messy situations and had never stopped supporting him.
After a brief pause, the system suggested,
[I believe the host should seek help from his ’friends’.]
Kyle blinked in surprise before realization dawned on him.
Right.
If those people on the live stream could grant him this system and such a high-grade ocular ability, then surely they had a way to help Blake as well.
He didn’t waste any time and stepped out of the bathroom.
Inside the room, his mother had fallen asleep on a chair, a small tear clinging to the corner of her eye.
Kyle stared at her for a few seconds, his heart inexplicably heavy, before quietly leaving the ward.

A/N:- The story might feel a little too fast paced in the beginning for a few people but don’t worry, I won’t miss out on important details.
