STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer-Chapter 250: I slipped back quietly
City gate:
Jeremy soon reached the city gate. He did not come across any danger, but he was still vigilant. He was using his new vision to observe the surroundings after arriving at the gate, to see if anyone was following him.
His eyes were constantly zooming in and out. If he found anyone suspicious, he used his zooming ability to confirm their facial expressions. But so far, no one had looked at him. This indicated that there were no killers after him today.
"The new vision ability is a lifesaver," he thought, especially in situations where he was facing a threat.
10 minutes later,
Jeremy walked back into the city. Some of the city guards were already familiar with him because of previous incidents. Seeing him safe and sound, they didn't raise any questions.
Jeremy nodded to them before heading to the main street. He was glad that no one had tried to see through his strength. But he was worried that he would be exposed to either Instructor Jacob or Department Head Derek.
Though he thought it would be hard for people to figure out his strength unless he voluntarily released his aura, after gaining some clarity in his thoughts, he entered the flying cab to return to the university.
Not long after, he returned to the university. Both the guards saw him, but Jeremy ignored them and started heading toward the dorm room.
The time was already close to nighttime. Today was a great day for him, but he had experienced terrible emotions. The black lake beast had given him a real scare. Fortunately, things hadn't turned bad for him.
Soon, he returned to the room and went to sleep.
Meanwhile,
Both the guards did not fail to inform their benefactor. Billy, who received the news, didn't show any reaction. Even if Jeremy Night went to the wilderness, he wouldn't mind.
Ever since he had learned that the city police were investigating the case, he chose to stay low-key. So after getting the information, he didn't react but minded his own business.
This didn't mean that he had given up his actions against the STRIKER Department. He was going to create problems, but the problems wouldn't involve the city police or any other forces.
...
City C:
Ron Night had been receiving updates from the private investigators who were handling the case of his son. There were unknown killers after his son. So far, their identities were unclear.
But the investigators helped him clear his mind. Though they failed to find Jeremy's real enemy, they were able to identify potential suspects.
Among them, the foremost were the Central University 14's senior instructors and students. Ron was shocked to the core when he learned the news.
Only after going through the full information was he able to know that the senior students and the families behind them didn't like the idea of redeveloping the STRIKER Department.
The private investigators suspected the rich families. They could employ mercenaries to deal with his son, although this was not confirmed.
As the City Governor of City C, he also knew about mercenaries—how they operated, their likes and dislikes. Therefore, he suspected the big families as well.
Unfortunately, he couldn't file a complaint without evidence. If he submitted his complaints to the Human Alliance with concrete evidence, then the Human Alliance would definitely help him.
So he had requested the private investigators to do their best. Currently, they are staying in City A, monitoring Jeremy Night discreetly.
But they didn't know that Jeremy Night had gone to the wilderness and returned without alerting anyone.
...
The following day,
Jeremy Night woke up. After getting out of bed, he started his morning routine. It had been some time since he felt this refreshed, without tension in his mind.
Maybe it was because of the breakthrough or due to his new abilities.
Time went by.
When it was time for classes, he exited the dormitory and made his way toward the department building. He could be quickly promoted to the 2nd year because the 2nd years were just Tier-2 Beast Tamers.
If he showed his strength, the whole university would be alarmed. But he didn't want to do that. He knew that tall trees attract winds.
He had already made enemies. If he revealed his strength, he could make enemies of the families behind S-Graders. With this thought in mind, he arrived at the Department Building.
With his new vision ability, he could clearly see the different reactions from the students of the Medicine and Mercenary Departments. His mouth curved into an arc.
With this vision ability and new starlight ability, his future journey would be smooth. He then came to class and saw Daniel Stone and Betsy Lowe.
"Jeremy!"
"Brother Jeremy!"
Daniel Stone and Betsy Lowe called out his name.
"Hi, what are you guys doing?" Jeremy asked.
They had no clue that Jeremy had been to the wilderness.
"We were training hard separately. Brother Jeremy, why don't we go on another mission?" Daniel asked.
Betsy expressed the same sentiment on her face.
But Jeremy was stunned. He knew the dangers surrounding him. Previously, they had seen them too.
"Did you guys suffer any head injuries?"
"Captain Nathan is still looking for the mastermind. I'm not safe yet. If you come with me, we could face similar dangerous situations," Jeremy said in a serious tone.
He wondered whether these two were joking with him.
"Brother, we know. It's just that we wanted to gain more experience," Daniel said with regret.
"There's a chance that we could come across Tier-4 Corrupted Beasts in the wilderness," Betsy added with her beautiful voice.
"Sigh!"
Jeremy let out a sigh.
"You guys can explore the wilderness next year. Most of the seniors did the same. It's just that I can fight across tiers, so I'm taking the risk to enter the wilderness."
"But still, the wilderness is not safe for me," Jeremy added.
Hearing that both showed some understanding. But their
disappointment was visible on their faces.
