STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer-Chapter 249: Experimenting with new ability
Wilderness,
The night passed, and no corrupted beasts passed by the place. When morning came, Jeremy Night opened his eyes. He looked at his strength, and a new wave of confidence rose in his heart.
The breakthrough was a timely one. He could now handle a lot of problems better. With morning light illuminating the place, he chose to leave.
Jeremy stood up and left the ruined building. He was now heading towards the black lake. He wouldn't be at ease unless he found out the fate of the Tier-6 worm that had threatened him that day.
Swoosh!
Just as he passed through the uneven path, an alarm went off in his senses. The next second, he thought the crisis must be nearby. He took out the katana blade and held it in his right hand. His eyes scanned for the threat.
Suddenly, his new eye ability came into play. He zoomed in and spotted a beast hiding behind the bushes. It was over 20 meters away. It was a green-colored snake beast.
It didn't give off any aura, but he thought it might be a Tier-3 beast because only Tier-3 corrupted beasts and above could give him a sense of crisis.
If it had been earlier, he wouldn't have doubted it. He might have had to engage it in close quarters. But right now, he could spot it from this distance. His mouth curved into an arc.
Not only could he see the snake clearly, but he could also spot its minute details as well. For example, he observed how thick the green scales of the beast were. He could only kill it by severing its head.
Swoosh!
Jeremy moved forward. While doing so, he started to circulate the new starlight energy for the first time. It felt like controlling a thick liquid in his body.
A stream of white liquid flowed from his palm and covered the katana's single edge in the blink of an eye.
A sharp glint flashed in his eyes. He sensed that the power of the starlight energy was stronger than before. The next second, he gripped the handle and dashed towards the beast.
Swoosh!
The Tier-3 snake was startled. It hadn't even engaged its prey; instead, the prey had spotted it. The beast's snake pupils flickered.
Swoosh!
It propelled forward like a projectile. Its body sped through the air while its fangs were aimed at the enemy.
Jeremy, who was moving forward, saw the beast's movement clearly a couple of meters away. He paused his movements and readied himself to attack the beast.
Both of his eyes focused on the beast. His heart calmed down. His senses heightened. As usual, the snake's speed slowed down in his eyes.
Not only that, but he could also zoom in on its neck. Seeing the transparent veins, his mouth curved into an arc. When the snake got closer to him—
Slice!
He swung the katana. The starlight-filled blade edge cut right through the neck before severing it completely.
Puchak!
Blood spread on the ground. The severed head and the rest of the massive body of the beast fell down to the ground. Jeremy was stunned. He looked at the blade because the blade's single edge was still covered with the starlight energy.
If it had been before the breakthrough, then the starlight energy would have disappeared. Now it has become a liquid state. The starlight energy would last longer.
Jeremy then cast aside his thoughts before heading towards the black lake. As time passed, he crossed the hard paths before arriving at the black lake.
As he entered the area, he felt the same heart palpitations. Even after becoming a Tier-2 Beast Tamer, the sense of crisis emanating from this place remained the same.
Jeremy then walked forward toward the shore. He then saw the remains of the beast, which was the hardened hydrostatic skeleton. The skeleton stretched over 30 meters.
Gasp!
A low gasp escaped his mouth. Jeremy stared at the skeleton while his heart set off storms. He recalled the previous memory.
At that time, escaping from this place, he had heard some noise. The worm beast must have been attached to something at that time.
Goosebumps spread all over his body at the thought of it. He knew this place was dangerous. Having satisfied his curiosity, he chose to leave.
Splash!
The next moment, something emerged from the water. A black beast touched the lake shore. Jeremy saw the beast from the corner of his eye without turning back entirely.
Swoosh!
Even before he reached the entrance to leave the area, the black beast came rushing towards him. Jeremy sped off without thinking further.
He used the "Explosive Steps" to escape. Though he had become a Tier-2 Beast Tamer, it was still risky to engage this strange beast.
He couldn't judge the tier of the beast. It could either be a higher-tier beast or possess stealth abilities.
On the other hand, the black beast was none other than the black crocodile. This fierce crocodile beast had threatened Beast Tamers before.
Seeing another prey fleeing from its territory, the black crocodile gave chase. It was not entirely bound to the black lake; it could still move around the forbidden area.
Jeremy Night was not naive. He had made mistakes in the past. He knew that a beast from the black lake had previously walked out. Now it is happening again.
So he ran nonstop without looking back. But he could still sense the beast chasing him from behind. He used his movement technique, yet the beast could still see his back.
Jeremy's back went cold at the thought of it. It didn't take long for him to return to the entrance land. Now the area has become more open and wide.
Nothing concealed the threats in the surroundings. The feeling of something chasing him was gone. Jeremy then stopped his movements and turned around. He wanted to see whether the black lake beast was still pursuing him.
....
Rustle!
The black crocodile beast, about 40 ft in length, approached him. Jeremy was still clueless about the beast's strength, so he chose to use the handgun.
He put the katana blade back into his storage ring and took out the handgun.
His eyes stared at the beast. He found that the beast looked menacing when zoomed in. The black scales covered its body like a coat.
It would be interesting if he used his new starlight ability, but right now, he decided to use the handgun.
The black crocodile gently moved forward upon seeing the standstill prey.
Boom!
Yet suddenly, it propelled forward at great speed. The shockwave spread with a booming sound.
Jeremy's eyes flickered. He used his vision ability and zoomed in on the incoming beast's eyes.
Bang! Bang!
Jeremy fired a continuous round the next moment. The bullets cut through the air before piercing the beast's eyes.
Puchak!
The hot blood sprayed on the ground. The beast roared out loud the next moment. Jeremy didn't pull the trigger; he found that the beast's brain was crushed.
The next second, the beast died unwillingly. This all happened within seconds.
Sigh!
Jeremy heaved a sigh of relief. He didn't expect that he could kill the Black Lake beast. Then he walked up to the corpse out of curiosity.
From the very beginning, he had thought that the beast living in the black lake was quite special.
After arriving in front of the beast, he discovered one important thing, which sent shockwaves through his heart.
He then touched the beast's corpse and took out a knife to cut it open. He started from the soft abdomen and began to examine the body.
A few minutes later,
"It's a Tier-2 Corrupted Beast," he uttered in shock. He thought he was being chased by a higher-tier beast, but it turned out to be a Tier-2 Beast.
"No wonder it couldn't react to the gunshot," Jeremy thought.
If it were a higher-tier beast, he thought, the beast would have reacted better. After calming his heart, he looked at the beast. If he decided to sell it, it would fetch a good amount of money, but there was a risk.
He knew people might ask about its origin. He didn't think it was wise to tell anyone. This place was still a paradise for him; he could use it as a personal space for practice.
After gaining some clarity in his thoughts, he put the handgun back in its holster. Jeremy decided to leave the corpse here.
Swoosh!
After glancing around the surroundings, he turned to leave.
Time went by,
Jeremy came out of the forbidden area in a short time. His speed was fast because of the breakthrough, and he then continued to run towards the City Gate.
Before dusk came, he arrived at the outer part of the wilderness. The city gate was near but Jeremy was still keeping an eye on the surroundings.
He had left the forbidden area, but he knew that there could still be mercenaries around here.
