Chapter 603: Lucky To Be Alive

[Flash Freeze: This skill grants the user a chilling aura that can be released from his body at any moment. Once unleashed, this skill will eliminate everything in the user’s path by encasing them in a tomb of pure silver for eternity. This skill can only be used against opponents in the TITAN Rank or lower. This skill cannot be evolved.]

[Dispersion: This skill allows the user to scatter his body into millions of atomic particles. These particles will act as the user’s real body, and they can be controlled or moved in any direction the user wishes to go, using just a thought. In the presence of heavy wind, the user will have to exert more stamina to move in a direction opposing the wind. This skill cannot be evolved.]

——

The strength of the user’s Qi has grown exponentially. In order to tap into the new power, the user must take time to meditate.

——

"Hey, you’ve been unconscious for too long already. Isn’t it about time that you woke up?"

Jason’s eyes suddenly shot open when he heard a voice coming from beside him, and he quickly closed his eyes again when he felt an intense headache pounding against the side of his head. Oh fuck, that hurts! Jason groaned as he started to push himself up to a sitting position, and he heard the voice again.

"I can’t believe you managed to survive something like that with only these many injuries. I really thought that would be the end of you, but I suppose fate had bigger plans for you after all."

Jason finally opened his eyes and looked over to see who was talking to him, and he saw Sicario sitting cross-legged with his long golden spear resting on his lap. Sicario had a strange smile on his face, like there was some inside joke that only he knew about, and Jason decided that he was too tired at that moment to bother asking about it. Jason looked down at himself, and he saw that all his clothes were gone. Even though his clothes were mostly artefacts, none of them were able to withstand the sheer power of the explosion from his Resonance! But even though Jason was completely naked, it was the injuries on his body that really shocked him. There wasn’t a single part of Jason’s body that hadn’t been scorched by the explosion, and he was bleeding from so many injuries that he had formed a small pool of blood around himself.

For a split second, Jason wondered why he wasn’t feeling the intense pain from the injuries, and it was almost like Sicario could hear his thoughts because he answered Jason’s unasked question.

"I’m using my ability to keep the injuries at bay so you wouldn’t suffer more than you had to. It’s already impressive enough that you tanked an attack that killed a TITAN Rank II beast without losing any body parts, so you should be proud."

For some reason, Sicario didn’t seem to even care that Jason was naked, and Jason just figured that Sicario was used to seeing people naked since he had once been in a military. Soldiers and warriors were known to not care about things like that. Jason closed his eyes and let out a calm huff before he looked around at where he was.

Both men were sitting on the back of the dead Beast of the Apocalypse, and the beast’s corpse was floating facedown on the sea of lava. Jason felt a strange sense of justice from seeing the beast in such a humiliating position, and he closed his eyes and let out a sigh of relief once he realised that the beast was finally dead. The past few days had been the most difficult of Jason’s life, and Jason knew that it would take a very long time before he forgets what this beast put him through. Not only was this the first creature to really push him to within an inch of his life, but it was also responsible for forcing both Jason and Gina to awaken new abilities just to fight back against it. But at the end, Jason was the one who came out alive, and that was all that mattered. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

[King’s Guard] has been activated

Jason’s Legion skill kicked into action once Jason activated it, and the wounds covering Jason’s body slowly began to vanish, and they were replaced by unblemished skin once again. Sicario watched this with a look of mild surprise on his face, and he hummed once the last of Jason’s injuries were finally healed. Sicario could only wonder what sort of healing technique that was! From what he knew, there was no artefact that could heal an injury at such an insane rate without releasing a significant amount of mana first, but Sicario hadn’t felt any mana, so he could only guess that what happened was an innate ability within Jason’s biology.

’So he not only possesses Necromancy abilities, but he can also use Qi and heal injuries. The more I learn about this man, the more I want to know. He just might be the one I’ve been looking for.’

Sicario watched as Jason grabbed a change of clothes from some strange pocket dimension beside him and put on the pair of black trousers and a black singlet before he finally stood up on bare feet and stretched calmly. Anyone who saw Jason now would never think that he had been broken and injured just a few seconds ago. Truly a remarkable power.

"Thanks for all your help back there. I don’t think I would have been able to kill this thing without you."

Jason turned to Sicario as he said this, and Sicario raised a brow before looking up at the horde of dragons and one Skrill that were still circling above them and playing excitedly with each other. Sicario didn’t know if Jason meant what he said sincerely or not because Sicario had a feeling that Jason could have figured out a way to win even if he didn’t have any help. With these many monsters under your command, there aren’t many beasts out there that would survive for long. But Sicario wasn’t going to refuse the thanks. Sicario stood and stretched his hand out to Jason while speaking.

"Well, in that case, I suppose I’ll hold you to your word then. Swear to me that sometime in the future, if I ever need help killing a monster that is far stronger than what I can handle, I can count on you."

[This is a magical oath. The user should choose his words carefully before agreeing to it.]

Jason hummed internally as the system brought this up. Jason had never heard of magical oaths before, but he could guess what they were just from the system’s warning, and he smiled as he answered easily.

"As long as I see it as something worth doing, then you can count on me."

Jason took Sicario’s hand, and there was a small pulse of mana that flowed between both of them as the Magical Oath was sealed. Sicario smiled at Jason’s wording, and he nodded. What Jason said ensured that the full responsibility of making a decision would lie on Jason’s shoulders. So Sicario could only ask for help and wait for Jason to decide if he wanted to help or not.

"I’m glad to see you’re also well-versed in Magical Oaths. That knowledge will serve you well in the future. Now, what do you intend to do with this spoil of war?"

Sicario finally pulled back, and he looked at the large beast under them curiously, and the look he saw on Jason’s face told him that Jason already knew exactly what he would be doing with the corpse of the beast.
