Chapter 487

“Everything is going smoothly.” Li Wei reported along with the others.

“It seems so.” Wei Jun replied. The loss percentage had decreased by almost 70% as people chipped in to earn their rations, rather than relying on charity. The remaining loss was only because of how many parents couldn’t work properly due to looking after their children and the elderly.

Although many nuns had taken the jobs as daycare nannies to look after the children, there were still many parents who couldn’t work, mostly women.

Field hospitals were erected where the doctors took jobs to take care of those who were either injured or needed life support. The amount of medical equipment required for that was massive and it had taken almost fifty billion as some of the equipment had to be imported from overseas.

Still, the daily revenue was only rising and in a few months, they were bound to see no losses, if no profits either.

“Any other issues?” Wei Jun asked.

“None regarding this matter.” Yue Peng replied.

“Which means there are regarding other matters.” Wei Jun remarked before he asked, “What is it?”

“The government screwed us again.” Lin Ruan replied.

“How so?” Wei Jun asked.

“Well, it turned out there was a “hacker attack” and some of the files, including our proposal for a guild, were leaked to some incorporations. Now some are moving to make such organization with the government’s hidden support.” Lin Ruan explained.

“That’s it? I thought it was a serious issue?” Wei Jun said.

“You don’t think it’s a problem?” Yue Peng asked.

“Why would it be?” Wei Jun asked as if it was obvious and then asked again, “I’m sure capable businesswomen like yourselves who have made an empire in a harsh world of men would be familiar with one very simple and powerful word.”

“…”

“…”

“I’m just gonna go ahead and say it.” Li Wei, who wasn’t thinking like the other two, asked, “What would that be?”

“Simple.” Wei Jun once again said as if it was obvious, “Sabotage.”

“Mister Lee, is it true that you’ve been having an affair with a prosti*tute? There have been rumors that you have used her to coerce many fellow party members to be on your side?” A reporter asked a well aged middle aged man.

On the other side, another politician was being questioned, and on the other side, another. Simultaneously, all over the country, ministers of different profession but closely related to the government were embroiled in various scandals that had caused them to hide in their houses because of how limelight they were getting.

In the negative way, of course.

“Damn that Ruan!” A middle aged man slammed his hand on the table and yelled. Those present in the room also agreed with him but they couldn’t do anything about it.

“He could have given us a warning, but this… Who would have expected this?” A woman in her fifties couldn’t believe how her life had turned out to be. Scandals she was involved in, and scandals she wasn’t involved in. From let and right, things were bombarding her heavily.

Not just her, everyone in the room was a target of destruction.

“All that just because there was a minor leak. How could he be so cruel?” Another young man asked.

That was right. They all knew why they were there. Each and everyone of them were involved in leaking Wei Jun’s proposal to create a private guild. They had expected that Wei Jun would show restraint since other corporations were involved and they were all high ranking officials.

But there was no mercy. All of them were thrown in various scandals and even their own parties were pushing towards throwing them out. As for the corporations that backed them to do something like this. Well, they didn’t exist since last night.

Fires in their warehouses, suddenly evil cultivators raiding their incoming merchandise, the banks and offshore accounts holding their illegal money and more. The fall was so fast and so quick, that their simple belief that the Ruan enterprise was the same as other corporations was shattered in an instant.

All of them knew who was behind it, but could they do anything about it? With just this move, Wei Jun had proved how well of a giant he was. How terrifying the Ruan Enterprises were.

“W-We have to do something. If we just sit here and do nothing, going to jail would be the last of our concern.” One of the women said.

“But what?” A man asked.

“I know. How about we approach the Ruans and apologize?” Another timid man suggested.

“I’d rather die!” An old man slammed his hand on the table and stood up.

“Then go and die! I’d rather not go down like this!” A woman yelled with even more intensity.

It was chaos. Some were still sticking to pride, the old ones majorly, and some were all in about approaching Wei Jun and apologize. If he created such a mess, surely how could have had means to deal with it, right?

“It seems, there’s a dilemma striking everyone.” Suddenly, they all heard a voice in the room. They all turned to see a handsome young man along with a man and a woman, both of whom had a cold expression on their faces.

“Who are you?” An old man cautiously asked. The trio had just came out of nowhere so it made sense.

“Me?” The young man pointed at himself and simply added, “I’m someone who can resolve your troubles.”

“How?” Another old man hopefully asked even though the atmosphere was far from normal.

“How, you ask?” The man said before he circled around them and got to where the head of the table was and grabbed him by his shoulders. The man trembled but didn’t say anything out of fear. Smiling to himself, the young man smirked and said, “Simple. All you have to do is get power.”

“Power?” A woman asked.

“I’m not talking about the flimsy power you hold that can be flipped on a moment’s notice. I’m talking about real power, strength that cannot be denied.” The man replied.

“You mean like a cultivator?” The same woman asked.

“Exactly like a cultivator.” The man replied with a smile.

“H-How? How can we become cultivators?” The man who was in the young man’s grasp asked.

“Simple.” The young man extended his arm and pointed at the woman with him who pulled out an orb out of nowhere and said, “You simply have to give in to lu*st.”

Just as he said that, as if a drug had been infused in everyone’s mind and they moved on instinct. Clothes were torn apart, young and old alike and…

“That’s it. Give in to lu*st and all your dreams will come true.” The young man spoke with laughter seeping in his voice.

He looked at the lost old men and women, moving like animals and smirked to himself as he felt his own power increase greatly before he turned to the woman who was also feeling the affects of increased power and said, “Prepare the stage.”

“Forgive me, my lord, but do you think they would be enough?” The man asked as he looked at the animals in the room.

“Haha.” The young man simply chuckled and replied, “Humans unlock a strange power when they are close to death.”

The man simply said and left.

The man and woman remained in their place, looking at the deranged animals in the room with disgust before both of them extended their arm towards each other and shook them three times before the man opened his palm and the woman made a peace sign with two fingers.

“Damn it.” The man cursed and sighed, “I’ll get it done.”

The woman smirked and left with a triumphed look on her face. As for the man, he turned to look at an old man who was already out of commission and couldn’t help but drown in disgust again.

“This is going to be an arduous task.” He mumbled to himself but then got to work.

“Sir! There’s an emergency!” Luo Li was in a meeting with the commanders of his own rank when a soldier barged in. Listening to his words, Luo Li didn’t show any signs of offense and asked, “What is it?”

“O-On the skies of the Fengdu city… No, please look by yourself.” The man said before he moved to turn on the TV in the room and immediately turned on a news channel. It didn’t matter which, because all of them were showing the same thing.

“Right now live from Fengdu city…”

“The skies are covered in…”

“A giant crack has appeared…”

“No one has responded anything yet…”

“We are waiting for the military to reposed…”

Looking at the chaos where several news channels were covering the same issue, Luo Li didn’t hesitate for a second before he said, “Mobilize all cultivators. Send out special summons.”

He then turned to the subordinate and gravely said, “Especially to Wei Jun Ruan.”
