Substitute Wife for the Mafia King R18-Chapter 391: Irresponsible Lover
"Leya, you need to help me find a way out of this. Diana simply cannot make this kind of mistake," my sister told me slowly and clearly as she stared directly into my eyes.
"You’re right. You can’t afford to make these kinds of mistakes," I agreed solemnly.
"No one else must find out about this. We have to do something before word gets out because word is definitely going to get out,," my sister stated calmly, and I could tell that she had returned to her calm and collected self.
"Can’t we tell them that they simply misunderstood and that it’s not true?" I asked, daring to harbor a little bit of hope.
"They probably won’t believe what we tell them, but they might believe what we show them," Diana replied, and I could tell her mind was made up.
Without using any more words, it seemed like an understanding had formed between us, and once again, it felt like it was us against the entire world.

**The Next Day**
As I pushed open the back door to the building that was supposed to be off-limits, only to find that it was unlocked, I learned that nothing was truly off-limits if you simply knew the way in and the way out. The school’s old building was supposed to be long abandoned after everyone migrated to use the newer buildings; however, it seemed like a few people had been utilizing the building in secret.
I strictly followed my sister’s detailed instructions to find the room where she had been secretly meeting with Mr. Malton. Walking down the narrow hallway leading to the room gave me a slightly creepy feeling, as if I was wandering inside a haunted house at a theme park. The door made an ugly squeaking sound when I pushed it open to reveal what must have been an old classroom. Looking out through the window, I could tell that the sun was setting and soon it would be dark.
There wasn’t much in the old classroom but a few desks and chairs. The room wasn’t super dirty, so someone must have cleaned it, although probably not often because it wasn’t sparkling clean. All in all, it was very hard for me to imagine my sister spending time in that place, let alone having a romantic affair. I walked towards one of the desks and sat myself down on top of it as I waited impatiently for my sister’s lover to arrive.
Time seemed to pass by slowly as I listened to my own breathing and stared at the tips of my shoes while I waited in silence. Suddenly, I heard soft footsteps slowly approaching the room and knew that the person I had been waiting for was making his way down the hallway. My eyes landed on the door as I waited for it to slowly open. Once again, the door made an ugly creaking sound as it was pushed open.
"Diana..." Mr. Malton said to me with a smile so sweet that it made me cringe inside.
I returned his smile without saying a word or moving from where I was sitting as I waited to see what he was going to do. He closed the door softly behind him before walking over to where I was seated. His eyes were always on me, and his gaze was kind and caring. Despite having learned of the grave situation that someone had found out about their hidden relationship, Mr. Malton appeared very calm. For a moment, I wondered if it was because he had everything under control or whether it was because he was simply a careless and selfish man. I wondered if he thought he alone could escape from the situation unscathed, as if he could pin the entire blame on my sister.
"Were you waiting long? I got a little tied up, but I tried to come see you as soon as possible," he said in a low, seductive whisper as he reached a hand out toward my face.
It took quite a lot of effort for me to remain in character as I smiled up sweetly at him until his hand landed on the side of my face endearingly. I had to admit that he was quite enchanting, and I could see why my sister had fallen for him, but in my case, all I could think about was that this man was simply trying to take advantage of her-and also the fact that he had a wife waiting for him at home.
"I thought that you would no longer come to see me because of... you know," I said, before trailing off because I was certain he knew what I was referring to. Slowly, I placed my hand over his, before pulling it away from my face.
"I would never do anything like that. We made a promise that we’d be together forever, no matter what-did you forget?" he reminded me, although obviously I wasn’t the one he made that promise with.
I simply nodded my head a couple of times as I feigned distress and disappointment. Before I could brace myself, I felt his arms envelope me in a tight hug.
"Everything is going to be fine; you don’t have to worry about anything," he told me as his hand began stroking my back comfortingly.
My body stiffened in his arms as disgust took over me because I knew that his words of promise were nothing but empty. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"I didn’t think that the other girls would find out," I whispered.
His arms loosened from around my body just enough so that he could distance his face enough so that our gazes would meet.
"It’s fine. All we need to do is deny what they say, and it might be unfortunate, but perhaps we should maintain our distance for a while until everything dies down," Mr. Malton advised calmly.
That was when my suspicion was confirmed-that my sister’s lover had no intention of taking care of her or helping her deal with the situation.
