Substitute Wife for the Mafia King R18-Chapter 417: The Anomaly
He said your name," Diana replied without any further explanations.
"Who said my name?" I asked as I felt my brows drawing even closer together into a frown.
"Anthony. Your name was the first he called when he woke up. Don’t you wonder why?" my sister replied with a curious look on her face.
Thanks to my sister, I realized the abnormality that had occurred. If Diana realized it, Bradon must have realized it as well-that the first and only name that Anthony called when he regained consciousness was none other than my name. However, it did not make any sense because, apart from me, Diana and Bradon were also there. If I had to place my bet on who Anthony would have called out to first, I would have placed my entire life’s wealth on Diana, but that wasn’t how things turned out.
I stared down the hallway where Bradon had walked down. I couldn’t help but wonder how he felt when Anthony called out my name.
...
Zain was waiting for me with a polite smile on his face the moment that I stepped out of the hospital. He gestured to the sleek black limousine with his hand before bowing slightly to invite me into the car.
"What is the meaning of this?" I asked, sounding quite on guard as I stared at the car suspiciously before returning my gaze to Zain.
"Master Brandon wants you to move back to the mansion," Zain informed me quite simply of the order that he had received from his boss.
"This is quite sudden..." I murmured the first thought that came into my head.
Strangely, I wasn’t completely against the idea of moving into Bradon’s mansion again, even though I practically risked my life to get out not so long ago. However, that didn’t mean that I didn’t spend quite some time hesitating and debating with myself about whether or not it was the right thing to do or the right move to make.
"Master Bradon recommends that you recall the conversation that you had with him if you find yourself hesitating," Zain told me smoothly, as if he could sense my hesitation.
I knew right away which conversation between us that Bradon wanted me to remember. His dark voice telling me that he would never let me go made me so certain of how possessive he is of me.
"He also said that he fully understands if you want to stay somewhere closer to the hospital, and that can also be arranged," Zain quickly explained.
His words caught my attention because it seemed like Bradon was giving me a choice in the matter and also going out of his way to ensure that I can stay closer to Anthony. I felt a glowing and warm feeling inside of me and quickly realized that I was more than happy that he was willing to respect my wishes.
"I’ll move back to the mansion. Let’s go, I want to be ready to come back to the hospital as soon as we are allowed to see Anthony again," I said as I headed towards the car.
Zain quickly opened the door for me with another polite bow of his head. It hadn’t been that long ago, but heading back to the mansion brought me some excitement, as if there was something for me to look forward to. However, when I recalled Diana’s words from earlier, I wasn’t so sure if I wanted to face the upset version of Bradon.
...
It didn’t take me long to settle into Bradon’s mansion again. Everything was just as I had left it, and it made me feel as if I had never left. Everyone and everything seemed to welcome me back with open arms. For a moment, it made me feel like I had returned home for the first time in a very long time. To stop myself from thinking of Bradon and what I should say to him when he returns home later that evening, I took a long and restful warm bath.
However, as time ticked by and evening turned to late night, I figured out that there was no need for me to fear facing Bradon while he was still upset. Although I was pretty sure that it was nothing more than a misunderstanding or something brought about by Anthony’s confusion from having just woken up from his coma, I still wasn’t sure how to explain it to Bradon. On top of that, there was always that chance that Diana and I had simply misunderstood the source of Bradon’s distress and discomfort.
"Maybe it’s something else entirely..." I mumbled to myself.
I would certainly look like a fool if I raised this issue to Bradon just to have him tell me that I had gotten it all wrong. Despite my fears, I waited up for him in the living room until past midnight.
"Shall I give Master Bradon a call?" Zain suggested respectfully.
"There’s no need to. He’s probably busy with work..." I replied.
"It is getting quite late. What about you head to bed first?" Zain suggested with a worried look on his face.
"You’re right. There’s probably no point in waiting for someone who’s not going to come home," I replied before letting a yawn slip past my lips.
"I’m certain that something of grave importance is holding him back at work. He will be back tomorrow," Zain quickly defended his master, although there was no need to.
"Good night," I replied simply as I stood up from the sofa.
That night, when I went to bed, I had a disturbing dream that wasn’t entirely good or bad. It would be going too far to call it a nightmare, yet at the same time, it gave me a very mixed and confused feeling when I woke up. It wasn’t so surprising that I dreamt of Anthony, because I was undoubtedly thinking of him and worrying about him even after he had regained consciousness.
