A mindless monster it may be, even the most insignificant creatures develop the sense to realize and know when their life is in danger.

The monster was now suddenly trapped between the two of them. It was stuck between a constant barrage of bullets and never ending cuts from a sword.

It roared in frustration, letting out violent vibrations in the air while its tentacles moved faster in response. They were a blur of motion as they whipped around wildly in the air. They blocked Luna's sword and smashed the ground near her feet to keep her back.

Allen kept an eye on all this mess through his goggles with wide eyes. The scene before him was a chaotic mess of green and white light flashes.

The monster was fast, in fact it was terrifyingly fast for something that size. Its tentacles moved at speeds that matched Luna's movements perfectly. They were just black streaks for his eyes and he couldn't even track them properly.

His eyes couldn't keep up with the movement no matter how hard he tried. This was a level of physical combat way beyond him and he was aware of this more than anyone else.

If he had been down there he would be dead in a second. He wouldn't last a moment against that speed and raw power. There's simply no possible way he would be able to dodge those attacks because he wouldn't even be able to see them coming.

Well, this much is to be expected I guess. He thought to himself, his finger still on the trigger with the continuous fire of the M4 raging upon the monster.

This is a different world after all and it only makes sense that physically my body is not made to survive in this environment. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised to know that the children here are physically stronger than me.

I mean, there's no fucking way to explain that speed of movement with just your muscles exerting force. Other than of course, magic. Not that I really know what exactly it is or how it works.

Still, this isn't really a thing to be worried about or stay down about to be honest. After all, the way I fight is entirely different down to its cores.

If things are right then I'm supposed to be standing in a safe place and giving out orders, completely away from the dangers of these superhuman monsters.

If things come to a point where I have to physically go into battle then it means I've already lost—

He suddenly stopped his line of thought, or was rather forced to stop it when he realized just what the hell he had been thinking.

As the reality of his surroundings become clear to him, he realized that he had in fact, been physically standing on the battlefield. It has been that way ever since he came to this world.

Well, it does take some time to get to the commander rank…

The stream of 5.56mm bullets cut through the night air like a solid line of fire before they slammed into the monster's exposed chest cavity with brutal force.

The spinning rounds drilled into the wet and raw meat as they tore through muscle fibers and shattered the broken ribs sticking out of the wound.

Thick gobs of yellow pus exploded outward from the impact points and dark and thick blood dripped down from the ground with a high consistency.

One after the another as the bullets kept ramming into the same spot over and over again, and with the monster being unable to defend itself due to all its tentacles being preoccupied with Luna, slowly Allen started to see the effect.

Its skin started getting ripped off as the bullets continued to drill a chunk of hole in its flesh, with pieces flying off around as the bullets smashed.

It was working. The thing was finally taking damage.

Though whether it was a good thing or a bad thing was yet to be decided.

The monster shrieked in frustration and tried to defend itself as it tried to peel one of its massive tentacles away from Luna.

It wanted to cover the gaping hole in its chest to stop the burning pain but this time Luna didn't let herself get caught off guard and was faster and she didn't let him do that.

She saw the limb move and struck it with her sword instantly before swapping with it to dodge the incoming volley of tentacle strikes.

Then she dashed inside its guard and slashed at its exposed legs. The monster had no choice but to snap all the tentacles back to block her blade, and was forced to keep focusing on her all the time.

It had saved its legs but had left its heart open for Allen.

But it was a tradeoff it had no other choice but to make. After all, losing its legs would mean being nothing but an immovable chunk of flesh which Luna could easily slash into a thousand pieces despite all the tentacles.

She moved at speeds that blurred the eye and she was attacking from high and low angles. She forced the monster to use all three of its tentacles just to stay alive, losing its legs and mobility would mean its end.

It had been locked into a perfect stalemate. The monster couldn't attack because it had to defend against her sword and it couldn't block the bullets because of the same reason.

Allen watched the carnage through his green-tinted goggles.

This is working, he thought to himself.

It was a classic pincer strategy from the games. One person draws the aggro and tanks the hits in close combat while the other person stands back and deals free damage to the weak point. It dealt twice the damage at the same time and kept the enemy confused. It seemed like the perfect strategy to win this fight.

It had been a chaotic start as both of them had been caught off guard by Randolf's transformation into this half-blood monster, but it seemed like they were finally starting to get the hang of it and get things under control.

However, still a cold and unsettling feeling remained in Allen's stomach, which wouldn't budge no matter how he ignored it.

It was taking too long. He had dumped three or four magazine worth of bullets into the creature and yet it was still standing.

The bullets were ripping it apart but it didn't seem to care enough. It was getting used to the pain and was adapting to the rhythm of their attacks.

Plus, Allen feared running out of bullets before being able to deal any critical damage.

That was his most profound weakness, after all, especially now when he had to conserve his CP and ammunition since he didn't know what he'd be dealing with in the future.

Well, I guess before worrying about the future I have to make sure I survive to see one. He thought to himself, and then right after bought 50 CP worth of bullets at once.

Then suddenly the monster's pattern changed. The monster stopped trying to block the bullets and its body suddenly expanded and swelled up like a balloon again.

The skin on its neck stretched tight and ripped and the neck itself began to elongate and grow longer by several feet. It twisted and writhed like a snake before locking onto Luna.

A vertical slit opened on the swollen neck which resembled something like a second mouth.

Then without any warning the two of them were hit with a wave of vibrations like before, yet this time it was much much stronger and shook them to their core.

Allen felt his teeth rattle in his skull as his bones shook inside his skin.

He was forced to stop firing as a painstaking headache flashed through his brain, making him hold his forehead with one hand and letting the monster rest free.

What the fuck is this?!

Allen screamed internally, trying to regain his senses as he felt his vision slipping away before his eyes. He let out a hard breath and then clenched his teeth, using all his strength to stand firm.

Finally the vibrations were over.

He quickly looked over toward the monster with his eyes scanning for the sight of Luna. Then he found her.

"Shit!" He cursed out loud, quickly holding the gun with both hands and aiming through the iron sight.

She had collapsed and was currently on the ground. Of course it was an obvious outcome.

Allen from such a distance had almost fallen over and was on the brink of being unconscious, it was only rational to imagine that Luna who had been right next to the monster would have been hit much harder.

The monster was still right there, with its tentacles forming an arc up in the air as it aimed them toward her.

Allen aimed right at those tentacles, as soon as the crosshair aligned he opened fire without any hesitation.
