Chapter 1090 -1090: Snatching the Bride

Lin Shen and the others had no idea what these strange things were or why they were doing this.

“Why are they lifting the bridal sedan curtain in front of us? Does it mean they’re trying to marry off the bride inside to one of us?” While Lin Shen was pondering, the paper matchmaker had already lifted the curtain.

Lin Shen and his two companions were shocked to find that the bridal sedan was completely empty, not a single thing inside.

As they were still puzzling over it, suddenly, a person materialized out of nowhere inside the empty sedan. Lin Shen and Wei Wufu were instantly startled.

The person who appeared out of thin air sat perfectly upright in the sedan. His lips were red, his teeth were white, his beauty unmatched, as though Pan An himself had descended—except, no matter how they looked at him, he seemed eerily like Di Esi.

“Holy—no, not just ‘like’—he *is* Di Esi!” Lin Shen turned to glance around, realizing that the Di Esi who had been standing with them had suddenly disappeared.

Looking back at the Di Esi inside the sedan, he saw the paper matchmaker had already drawn the curtain down and turned to walk toward Naihe Bridge.

“Stop them!” Wei Wufu erupted with the Power of Justice, a surge of purple light blasting out from his body and heading straight for the procession.

The two paper men at the back of the procession turned their heads, shadows of black light rising from their bodies as gusts of eerie wind lashed outward, colliding with Wei Wufu’s Power of Justice.

Those two paper men possessed the strength of Middle Deformed Species.

However, the strength of Middle Deformed Species was entirely inadequate against the justice-fueled and empowered Wei Wufu. freewebnσvel.cøm

The Power of Justice grows stronger against evil and seems to have an additional restraining effect on the Deformed Species of Yin Mountain Star. With one punch, the two paper men were obliterated, their strength and Divine Souls annihilated.

The brilliant purple light struck their bodies, setting them aflame and reducing them to ashes in the blink of an eye.

Lin Shen launched a double-handed salvo of Finger Sand, puncturing the skulls of several paper men. Yet even with their heads shattered, the paper men continued their march, summoning ghost-like beings to attack Lin Shen and Wei.

“Divine Soul… Upper Deformed Species…” Lin Shen unleashed his full strength, countering with his Surfing Fist while tossing the small beast from his pocket.

The Surfing Fist engulfed the Divine Souls with waves of mountain-like power, layer upon layer crashing down. The collision of their forces triggered a terrifying explosion.

A violent gust swept through, scattering the surrounding fog and wind into chaotic turbulence.

The small beast pounced on one paper man, its sharp claws tearing the paper figure into shreds, leaving only scraps of paper on the ground.

As it pounced forward again, it found itself unable to touch any other paper men, as though its body was confined by some invisible force, merely spinning in place despite its desperate efforts to move.

It turned out the bridal procession had already stepped onto Naihe Bridge. On the bridge, the small beast couldn’t advance at all, endlessly pacing in frustration while the procession quickly vanished into the misty clouds beyond.

When Lin Shen and Wei pursued them onto the bridge, they found themselves, as before, unable to cross Naihe Bridge and were forced to stop.

“Did Di Esi get kidnapped for a ghostly wedding?” Lin Shen turned to Wei, his expression peculiar as he asked.

“Yes… maybe…” Wei’s expression was equally strange.

“Have you ever encountered anything like this before?” Lin Shen, as soon as he asked, realized how absurd his question was.

If they had encountered this sort of thing before, Di Esi would have been long gone.

Wei Wufu shook his head, then pursued the procession a little farther, finding he couldn’t break through the barrier. Frustrated, he raised his fist and slammed it against Naihe Bridge, unleashing a furious blast of justice-powered force. Yet, despite its intensity, the bridge remained entirely unscathed.

“This won’t work. Let’s retreat for now and come up with a new plan.” Lin Shen put the small beast back in his pocket, grabbed Wei Wufu, and pulled him off the bridge.

Wei Wufu landed a few more punches, but Naihe Bridge remained unaffected, forcing him to follow Lin Shen back off the bridge.

Lin Shen crouched down and picked up several items that had fallen to the ground.

Among them were two Aberrant Sources dropped by the Middle Deformed Species paper men, as well as a translucent Crystal Core within which the shadow of an evil ghost flickered.

Lin Shen recalled seeing such Crystal Cores in the trading zones of the Great Void—they were Divine Soul Cores, which Upper Deformed Species had a chance of condensing before death.

Generally speaking, only Upper Divine Beings could activate Divine Soul Cores and transform them into usable Divine Soul Pets.

Lin Shen tried activating it with his Law Matrix, but was disappointed to find he couldn’t activate this particular Divine Soul Core.

He then attempted to activate the two Aberrant Sources, and this time he succeeded smoothly.

The two Aberrant Sources transformed into two paper hats, suspended in midair before Lin Shen.

Middle Mutation Aberrant Divine Artifact: Ghostly Paper Hat.

Type: None.

Usage Requirement: Soul Series Law.

Deformation Rate: 17%.

Hardness: 28,767.

Toughness: 28,765.

Aberrant Trait: Ghostly Possession.

Both Ghostly Paper Hats shared identical attributes and requirements, with the same Aberrant Trait.

Lin Shen’s heart stirred as he put one of the Ghostly Paper Hats on his head and attempted to activate it.

The Law Matrix easily activated the Ghostly Paper Hat, which immediately emitted an eerie green glow, casting an unsettling light over Lin Shen’s face.

More than just his face—the eerie green light enveloped Lin Shen’s entire body, making him look like an ominous specter emerging from Hell.

“Wei, wait a moment.” Lin Shen uttered, then began walking toward Naihe Bridge. Within just a few steps, he found himself at the bridge’s center, completely unlike his previous attempts when the bridge seemed endless.

Overjoyed, Lin Shen quickly turned around and returned to Wei, handing him the other paper hat. “Put this on and see if you can activate it. If you can, we’ll be able to cross.”

Wei accepted the paper hat and attempted to activate it with his Power of Justice, but instead of activating, the hat ignited instantly. Wei tried to extinguish the flames, but it was futile; the hat turned to ashes within moments.

“Wei, your power is too extreme and counters Soul Series Attributes. This method won’t work.” Lin Shen paused and added, “Stay here to support me. I’ll go in first to find Di Esi.”

Just as Lin Shen prepared to rush onto Naihe Bridge, Wei suddenly grabbed his arm, “Take… me…”

Understanding his intent, Lin Shen grabbed Wei’s arm and guided him onto Naihe Bridge, hoping they could cross together.

Wei’s Power of Justice worked exceptionally well here; taking him along would undoubtedly be advantageous.

Lin Shen led Wei forward, his heart uneasy, unsure if anything unusual would occur.

To their relief, with Lin Shen wearing the paper hat to lead the way, Naihe Bridge showed no abnormalities, and the two quickly made it to the midpoint of the bridge, disappearing into the mist.

Wei’s Power of Justice had been completely subdued, and their surroundings were blanketed in mist so thick that they could barely see their hands before their faces.

Following the bridge downward, Lin Shen only walked a few steps before the fog abruptly dissipated, revealing their new surroundings.

Eyeing their surroundings, Lin Shen realized they had crossed Naihe Bridge and arrived on the other side.

Unlike what they had previously seen, this side was an enormous ancient city, ablaze with lights and brimming with lively activity.

At the city’s very heart stood a grand palace, towering over all other buildings as the city’s most imposing structure.
