Survive As The Brute's Wife-Chapter 189: In Each Other’s Arms
"Arioch won’t have a good end. I am sure of it. But you won’t see it happen." Alexandra said, wiping the corner of her eyes. "You’ll hear about it though. I won’t deny you that happiness. But you won’t meet Arioch again."
Maximus pressed his lips. He could see that his wife is forbidding him from doing what he wanted to see all his life. It was hard for him to accept that.
"Promise me," Alexandra held out her hand. "Promise me that you won’t meet Arioch again."
Alexandra wanted him to promise her and keep his promise. Because it is not something that she wants. It was the creator’s order.
"Is it something that important to you?" Maximus asked. He couldn’t understand why she is so adamant about this. The thought that she might still have a soft corner for Arioch in her heart did cross his mind.
«No! That cannot be it!»
He told himself. Right now, she is here with him leaving Arioch with others. She did so much planning and she executed one of the toughest things by doing what he wanted her to do. She made everyone believe that she killed him. He cannot think about Arioch as she says.
Alexandra could see he is not very pleased with her asking for this promise. But this is very important. And so, when he walked to the front without answering her, she was not pleased.
"Will you answer me?" she asked but he was not looking at her.
"That is Rufus!" he shouted looking at the white horse in the shed. "How is he still... alive?"
As he was speaking, Rufus galloped towards them. Alexandra’s lips curved to a smile. Alexandra explained that Rufus had turned to the monster Rephelim and for some reason, he was able to stay alive for this long.
Alexandra watched Maximus playing with Rufus for some time. She was surprised that Rufus recognized Maximus as Tubby. She didn’t remember Luke getting along very well with Rufus but Tubby always did.
[Guess everyone around me could see Luke for who he is except for me...]
She didn’t have many regrets about that anymore. Because she understood that she only fell for him for his appearance and not for who he is. She never knew him as she knew Tubby. She only interacted with him a little and she largely fell for his face.
And that was not even his face as she knows now. It was the face of her first love—Lukyan.
Watching Maximus playing with Rufus, Alexandra forgot about him not willing to promise her that he will not meet Arioch again.
Both of them played with Rufus for some time, took a short walk in the moonlight, and returned to the house.
"Did you see that?" Maximus smirked pointing his finger at the bath area in the house.
"I did," she said fixing her hair behind her ear. Alexandra couldn’t help but blush as he mentioned the bath area.
It was a simple place, but it had the basic necessities without being extravagant. She didn’t know why, but Maximus always loved the water. Well, to be precise, he loved seeing her in water as she had gathered from the limited time they’d spent together.
And judging by the way he is smirking and how one of his brows is curving higher than the other, she could very well say what he is thinking right now.
"I helped you wash earlier," she said as her cheek burnt. She bowed her head in shame having failed in managing her blush.
Well, she wants him as much as he does. And she saw nothing wrong with that. They’ve been apart for a long time and now that they are together, nothing can stop them from showing their love for each other.
Alexandra’s eyes widened as she felt a strong grip around her waist. The next moment, her legs were dangling as she was carried in the strong embrace of the man of her heart.
She looked at his face and there was the smirk she loved on his face. Maybe she is feeling the same as him, she loved that smirk on him. Leaning on his chest, she let him carry her to the bathroom. Her steady beat of heart made her lips curve up.
They got in the tub and Maximus trailed his finger on her forearm, joining the beads of waterdrops glittering on her smooth skin. He nibbled on her earlobe while his other hand ended up caressing her abdomen underwater.
Slowly his kisses trailed to her neck. Alexandra closed her eyes and indulged in the gentleness of his touches. With each touch, she got warm. She turned and faced him. The water made a splashing noise and some spilled at the edge of the bathtub.
His eyes met with hers and her lips crashed on his. He kissed her while caressing her back with his slender fingers. The intensity of their kisses increased and she held on to him as he carried her out of the water. Not bothering to wipe themselves, both of them ended up on the bed.
"I am holding you," he said, kissing her lips. With short little kisses, he followed the drop of water traversing through her neck.
"You are..." Alexandra clutched the hair at the back of his head. Her toes curled by the sweet sensations his lips gave her. She started moaning as his lips made their impressions all over her body.
The fire from the stove downstairs spread the warmth inside the house and left a fragrant scent The sweet moans filled the small room as the two of them joined as one.
Time passed and the crackling sound of logs in the stove was not heard anymore. Maximus kissed the forehead of the woman dripping with perspiration with a satisfied smile on her face.
"You look very alluring when you are wet, Lexa," his deep, hoarse voice vibrated in her ear. "I want to..." he took a deep sniff and his hand traveled south of her abdomen and his fingers tried to sneak to her sensitive spot.
"Enough," Alexandra held his hand from moving further. She was so tired after her hectic day. She didn’t have the energy to go for another round.
The creator’s words have come to pass and now she is a human. And humans get tired very soon as it appears.
"The first time you saw me... I was wet then too..." she said, and her eyes closed unconsciously. "You were sneaking a peak of me in the..." her voice trailed off and she fell asleep almost immediately.
Maximus looked at her and placed a kiss on her forehead softly. But his eyebrows furrowed wondering what she said.
The first time they met was along the fence lines of her property. She wandered off to the distance and he was playing with a stick trying to find out the depth of an anthill.
She was not wet.
"First time..?" he asked. He knew she was tired, but he wanted to know.
«Could this be connected to the promise she wanted?»
