Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 440: Reproachful Complaints
The winter vacation quietly slipped away bit by bit.
"Are you all packed?"
Julian Sinclair leaned against the door, watching as Moira Young carefully placed clothes into the suitcase in the bedroom.
Hearing his voice, she didn’t pause in her actions and said, "Almost done." Just as she spoke, she heard footsteps approaching, and soon a pair of hands appeared in her line of sight, "Uncle, I can do it myself."
Julian’s eyes sparkled with amusement: "Let’s do it together."
Moira’s face turned slightly red, and she gave the man across from her a playful glare, quickening her pace.
She knew he was just impatient with her slow packing!
Before returning to the country, Julian had been pondering how to bring the woman back with him, and now they had reconciled.
Over the past two nights, under the moonlight, he had explained everything to Moira, coaxing and persuading her until she finally agreed to leave with him. The two of them then began packing and preparing to return to their home together.
Originally, Julian wanted to hire someone to pack, but Moira was reluctant, feeling attached to the house and wanting to pack herself to say a proper goodbye.
There was no help for it; the woman he loved had to be indulged in whatever she said.
In the afternoon, they finally managed to pack all the clothes and essentials Moira wanted to take. Julian had initially thought they didn’t need to pack these things, but Moira insisted so he couldn’t say no.
"We have furniture at home," he teased as his voice playfully lingered in Moira’s ear.
"Uncle~" Embraced in his arms, Moira playfully scolded, her small hands lightly hitting the man’s shoulder.
Julian’s eyes danced with laughter: "They’ll be downstairs soon."
Hearing this, Moira immediately perked up: "Then I need to check again to make sure we haven’t forgotten anything."
Julian watched her hurriedly dash away, the sound of her heels clicking on the floor, with a wry smile on his lips.
Soon, the doorbell rang.
"Young Master."
Julian nodded, and the helpers who arrived entered the house, carrying the large and small bags of luggage down the stairs.
Moira hugged Julian’s arm, turned around to take one last look at the room, then closed the door and followed: "Oh, my little room."
Julian raised an eyebrow, slightly smug, and kissed the top of her head: "From now on, you have me."
Is it that wherever you are, home is? Moira’s eyes welled up with warmth as she turned her head and nestled into his neck, murmuring, "Mm."
Returning to their home, some things seemed different, while others remained unchanged. The two of them were still sweet together, and time flowed forward like a gentle stream.
With the new year passed and everything renewed, the assistant drove to the Winslow Residence to pick up Aiden Webb for work.
"Mr. Webb."
Aiden nodded and got into the car: "Take me to Moira’s house."
"Aren’t we going to the company?" the assistant asked, turning back with a slight hesitance.
Aiden frowned slightly: "Why?"
"A director has come to visit."
After a moment of silence, Aiden said, "Let’s go to the company first."
After staying busy at the office until the afternoon, Aiden finally found some time. He took his car keys and drove directly to Moira Young’s house without calling the assistant, to avoid any further delays.
"Ding dong." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
After pressing the button once, there was no response, so Aiden raised his hand to press it again, but still, no one came to the door. Just as he was about to make a call, he heard a slightly gruff male voice: "Sir, are you looking for someone?"
Aiden turned his head and saw it was the security guard who regularly patrolled the corridors. He nodded.
The security guard smiled and said, "The residents aren’t currently living here; they moved out a little while ago."
"When?" Aiden’s expression darkened slightly.
The security guard waved his hand: "I’m not sure about the exact time. I wasn’t on duty that day, but I know she left with a man, about your height, quite handsome and stylish."
Aiden frowned, looked over, and said, "Thank you."
"No problem at all, just thought I’d let you know so you don’t end up waiting out here in the cold. Don’t want all you gentlemen catching a chill," said the security guard, waving to Aiden before turning to continue his patrol.
After pondering for a moment, Aiden headed out.
She left? With a man about his height? Could it be Heath Sterling?
Apart from him, the only other person she had been involved with recently was Heath. Surely, the girl wasn’t naive enough to leave with a stranger.
Could she really have gone to find Heath?
Half an hour later, the doorbell at the Sterling family residence rang.
"Coming, coming, stop pressing the bell!" The incessant ringing gave Heath a headache. He paused his game and exchanged a look with Carter Porter, then got up to open the door.
"Aiden, what are you doing here?"
Hearing the sounds of the game inside, Aiden’s face turned dark: "Is Moira here with you?"
Heath was puzzled: "Moira?" He shook his head as he spoke, "She’s not here."
Aiden scrutinized the room, preparing to enter further.
"Hey, Aiden, what’s up? If you come in, at least take off your shoes!" Heath shouted in complaint.
Carter turned his head to see Aiden standing behind him, with Heath holding a pair of slippers in surprise: "What’s going on here?"
Aiden scanned the room again but didn’t see Moira and was about to move further when Heath quickly pulled him back, helplessly saying, "Boss, what’re you doing? Don’t go any further; I just cleaned up yesterday."
Yes, the place was modest, but it was diligently looked after by the Young Master Sterling himself.
Aiden withdrew his arm, turned to face them, and asked, "Moira’s not here with you?"
Hearing her name again made Heath’s chest tighten with a bittersweet smile: "I wish she were."
Seeing Aiden’s expression darken, he explained, "Julian Sinclair has returned. Didn’t you know? She’s with him now."
Aiden pressed his lips together, a chill emanating from him.
"I haven’t seen Moira since the first day of the year. If you want to find her, you should look for Julian Sinclair, not me."
Shrugging, Heath skirted around Aiden and returned to the couch.
A minute or two later, Aiden walked to the door: "Thank you."
The door clicked shut. Heath sunk deeper into the couch, while Carter glanced over with slight concern. Opening his mouth to speak, he heard Heath say, "I’m fine, let’s continue. After this game, I’ll have to mop the floor again, sigh."
"Can’t you have your maid do it?"
"It’s the New Year; isn’t everyone on vacation?"
"Fine, fine, you do it, Mr. Sterling Housekeeper."
"Get out."
...
Sitting in his car, Aiden took out his phone and called Joe. Previously concerned about Moira, and with Joe being something of a fan, they had exchanged numbers.
"Hey, Mr. Webb, what’s got you calling me?" Joe answered in disbelief, both excited and thrilled.
