Chapter 153: Kryptonite

"Arrgghh!" Lewis cried as he was lifted off his feet and thrown into the air. Quickly, he created a mana bed on the ceiling, cushioning his body rather than the solid rock.

When he fell, Mercius leaped high and caught him like a baby, but with a push of his hand, the Vampire Lord sent them both crashing into a far wall, rocks spilling.

Percival spent the open space by ⸢Grave Stepping⸥ right in front of the Demon Boss, dragging his Basilisk Blade to complete a viscous slice.

The Vampire Lord, eyes wide, speedily pulled himself backwards, creating so much space between them in a mere nanosecond.

However, that had been exactly what Percival planned. It wasn’t a slice he was going for, it was ⸢Bladewave⸥.

He poured his Necromancer mana into the edges of the Basilisk, activating the Swordsman Skill and mixing it with ⸢Soulscorch⸥.

The blazing purple flames crashed into the retreating vampire, heating up its mana-forged body as he let out shrieks of pain.

"AEEEOOOWWW!" The sound was unbecoming of a Demon God. He sounded like a wounded puppy.

When Percival sent more ⸢Bladewaves⸥ his way, he desperately phased past each of them, doing his utmost best not to suffer that unbearable pain again.

Then, now floating beside a pillar, he looked at the Necromancer with pure anger. "I SHALL WITHHOLD YOUR PERISHMENT ONLY TO EXTEND YOUR SUFFERING!!"

Percival, on the ground, narrowed his eyes. His lack of fear only managed to infuriate the Vampire Lord even more.

The Lord uprooted the pillar behind him, then broke it into several jagged rocks aimed at Percival. Finally, he hurled them all in his direction.

Percival immediately burst in blue smoke, appearing on top of one of the hurled rocks, using it as a platform to run towards the floating vampire.

Irritated, the Vampire Lord burst forward just as Percival leaped off the rock. He grabbed Percival by the neck, causing him to freeze mid-attack.

"VERMIN!" the Vampire Lord cursed, drawing Percival’s face closer to his. Percival strained against his grip, surprisingly. Then, the part of his skin where the vampire’s bony hand was touching, slowly began to rot.

"DIE," he whispered in disdain. "GIVE ME YOUR LIFE SOURCE AND FADE TO DUS— ARGGHHH!"

Percival had retaliated by gripping the Vampire Lord’s own face with a hand coated with ⸢Soulscorch⸥.

When the vampire pulled away, Percival stepped on his knee for momentum, then struck his jaw with a spinning kick.

"URGGHHH!"

The Vampire Lord dropped all the way to the floor and crashed right into frozen blood lake, caving it in.

Falling, Percival ⸢Grave Stepped⸥ and reappeared neatly on the floor. He headed towards the fallen boss, but then heard loud growling noises growing behind him.

Percival looked over his shoulder and grimaced. The Revenants, Manor Vampires and Bats were coming after him. They had broken through the shield of Skeleton Soldiers and were heading straight for him to protect their master.

"Mercius! Where are you?!" Percival roared, summoning ⸢Radiant Guard⸥ just in time to block their attack.

"I am present!"

The Soul Soldier burst right out of the stones that had covered him and Lewis. He hurled the Arcanist away and landed straight down the center of the Demon crowd.

A blast followed as the Paragon Blade struck the surface, creating a holy ripple that sent all the emerald creatures flying in all directions.

They lunged at him right after, but he swung his sword, slaying them one after the other as different Knight Skills filled the air.

Percival turned away and returned his focus to the Vampire Lord. He froze suddenly, staring at the Demon’s figure standing in front of him.

The Vampire Lord’s obsidian face twisted in absolute disgust. He raised his empty left hand, his fingers curling inward.

The telekinetic crush was instantaneous.

Percival was slammed face-first into the floor, the sheer atmospheric pressure cratering the frozen blood beneath him. The heavy steel of his armor shrieked, bending into his bones like it was under the weight of a collapsed star.

But then it stopped. Percival’s squirm released and he looked up to see the Vampire Lord drop his hand to draw his fractured blood-rapier.

His eyes shot wide. "Now! It starts now!" he yelled.

"I’ve tuned into the ambient mana!" Lewis shouted. "Your Skills won’t be negated by his aura any more!"

Mercius immediately activated ⸢Divine Retribution⸥, his S-Grade Skill that burned away impurity. Now, just his presence alone was creating a holy light that vaporized any nearby demon.

Percival assisted by sending his Demon Summons. Blue colored Vampires and Revenants crashed violently into the green Demons. Skeletons joined as well while Mercius led the charge.

For the first time, all of Percival’s summons came together to battle under his command. The periphery of the crypt had turned into a brutal, deafening meat grinder of clashing frequencies.

Now that the Vampire Lord’s reinforcements were completely bogged down, it was a clear path for Percival to the boss.

Six seconds passed.

Percival crossed the distance in a blur, dragging the Basilisk Blade down to execute a two-handed overhead strike.

The Vampire Lord parried with impossible speed. The crystallized blood-rapier struck against the Basilisk Blade with a catastrophic CLANG, sending a shockwave that shattered the nearest suspended chunks of stone.

Ten seconds passed.

"YOU DARE RAISE YOUR BLADE TO ME?!" the Vampire Lord boomed. He thrust the rapier forward, aiming for Percival’s throat.

Percival deflected the strike by a fraction of an inch. The crystallized edge grazed his metal pauldron.

Instantly, the metal began to age, turning red with rust and disintegrating into dust from the ⸢Temporal Bleed⸥.

Percival touched his neck, feeling the wrinkles he had gotten from earlier. With that reminder, he swiveled his sword in his hand and snapped it to the side.

They glared at each other for a moment. 12 seconds had passed. Then, poof! Percival vanished.

He reappeared behind the Demon Boss, slicing his back and sending him falling forward. The Vampire Lord tried to catch his balance as he turned, but Percival attacked with two quick slashes that tore through his chest.

Crying in pain, the Vampire Lord attempted an attack of his own, but Percival dodged them flawlessly.

"Catch!"

He threw a round object at the Vampire Lord. The Demon caught it with one hand and looked down at it. Suddenly, his eyes widened and his face squirmed in disgust.

An onion.

"EUGHHHH! WHAT IS THISSS?!"

Percival ⸢Grave Stepped⸥ beside him, leaning against his shoulder and whispered into his crooked ear. "Kryptonite, bitch."
