Swordsman's Regression: Reawakened as a Necromancer-Chapter 84: The Heroes’ Party (3)
Silence reigned for a while longer, everyone was still recovering from the spell Corisande’s beauty had cast on them.
Ulcraft, in the Human Quarters, adjusted his crimson robes, his eyes narrowing as he watched King Galadrien.
He wasn’t impressed. In fact, the old noble was disgusted, and he did not hide it. Not in his face or his words.
"Look at Galadrien," he whispered to Grigor with curled lips. "We will be foolish to believe him offering his daughter for the Heroes’ Party is some sign of bravery. Pfft! It is for no other reason than to show superiority over us."
Grigor shook his head. "Is that so, my dear friend?"
"Open your eyes, Grigor! He wants to increase the Elven stakes, to make it look like Eldermoor is the only kingdom truly sacrificing for Evernia. It’s a transparent power play, Grigor. A play for the history books."
Grigor didn’t look at him. His eyes remained fixed on the list in Azmagrab’s hand where he knew his daughter’s name was written.
"Have patience, Ulcraft," he sighed. "The board is only being set. Superiority is a heavy crown, and I know that we will all have our cross to carry in this war."
Grigor grunted and relaxed to his chair.
Azmagrab, Legacy Awakener of Metrodorian, unrolled a dragon-hide scroll. "We shall continue."
The members of the Support Party were all presented as the Summit proceeded.
For the Human Kingdom, the Legacy Awakeners decided on the next three to represent Valoris: Steppard Dunvirk, Teson Blackriver, and Vadrian Heavenlaw!"
The Speaker introduced the new Awakeners each time they stepped onto the dais. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"Steppard Dunvirk is a student learning under the halls of Elderis Stone Academy and is a signed Awakener for the Iron Guard Guild! He’s a Lvl 20 Barbarian who also has a Legendary Talent! And as the Scholars have told us, with proper training, he too will reach the Level Cap in no time!"
The Humans cheered as Steppard, who was a simple commoner before, joined a group of people sure to make legend.
"Teson Blackriver is a student of Seven Stars Academy and is a signed Awakener for the Sunsparrow Guild! He’s a Lvl 21 Knight with a Legendary Talent! The Scholars project he too will reach the highest level of 150!"
"Vadrian Heavenlaw is a student of Elderis Stone Academy and is a signed Awakener for the Golden Spire Guild! He’s a Lvl 19 Swordsman with a Legendary Talent! He too shall reach the Level Cap!"
There were a lot of chants for Vadrian. He was popularly known in Wolsend as one of the most powerful young Awakeners.
He nodded at Stenya as he stood beside her. They were well acquainted with each other.
The rest of the Dwarf representatives in the Support Party were: Jorik Griklor, Jarbrun Vorvornik, and Strida Brymba!"
"Jorik Griklor is a student of God’s City Academy and a signed Awakener of the Iron Guard! Jorik is a Lvl 17 Earth Mage with a Legendary Talent!" the Speaker thundered.
"Jarbrun Vorvornik is a student of Seven Stars and a signed Awakener of Golden Spire! He’s a Lvl 18 Healer Mage with a Legendary Talent!"
"Strida Brymba is a student of Sky Hand Academy and a signed Awakener of Sunsparrow! She’s a Lvl 20 Berserker with a Legendary Talent! According to the Scholars, they shall all reach Level 150!"
The Dwarves stamped their iron-shod boots, the rhythmic thud-thud-thud, celebrating the names of some of their beloved younglings.
Elderis Stone representatives made faces. They had not managed to find any Dwarf representation in the Support Party.
Although they weren’t too unhappy about it considering their representation in both Humans and Elves.
For the Elf Kingdom, the remaining Support Party representatives were: Selor Finoric, Aelade Featherfil—Feris’s own sister, and Calarin Findor!"
"Selor Finoric is a student of Seven Stars and an Awakener for Heaven’s Blade! Lvl 21 Archer, Legendary Talent!"
"Aelade Featherfil is a student of Elderis Stone and an Awakener for Heaven’s Blade! Lvl 19 Wind Mage, Legendary Talent! Fun fact: she is also the younger sister of Eldermoor Capital’s Legacy Awakener, Feris Featherfil!"
Aelade turned pink with slight shame as she took her position on the long dais.
"And finally, Calarin Findor is a student of Sky Hand Academy and an Awakener for Golden Spire! Lvl 20 Knight, Legendary Talent!"
The Elves applauded.
The Legacy Awakeners waited for the noise to settle before continuing. When it finally did, Azmagrab spoke first.
"After discussing with my fellow Legacy Awakeners of our neighboring Kingdoms, we have chosen who amongst these Six will be promoted to be the leader of the Support Party."
Feris stepped forward. She didn’t read from the scroll this time. "We, the Legacy Awakeners, have decided that the commander of the Support Party will be Princess Corisande Everwood!"
"Ahh. I guess it’s not that surprising."
"She does have the highest ranked Talent amongst all of them."
"An Elf is the leader of the Support Party? Ha! Our Kingdom is truly the greatest."
Ulcraft was groveling in his seat at the display of this madness.
Corisande took her place on the center of the dais, bowing her head softly as the people happily cheered for her. Even Humans and Dwarfs.
Wives and girlfriends gave their husbands angry looks. One man pretended to be blind.
"As the Princess leads," Feris continued, "her seat in the Support Party shall be replaced. The Legacy Awakeners of Eldermoor select Melena Mornwood!"
The Speaker interjected, "Melena Mornwood is a daughter of the noble Mornwood family, a student of Seven Stars Academy, and an Awakener under the banner of Heaven’s Blade! She’s a Lvl 18 Knight with a Legendary Talent! The Scholars also project she will most certainly reach Level 150!"
Melena stepped onto the dais. She too had ivory, flawless skin. But inside, her mind was almost a storm.
Melena had lived her life in the shadow of her cousin, Corisande. And even though it was an honor to her and her family to be joining the Support Party, being a replacement for Corisande stung deep.
After she took her place on the space Corisande had been standing, the Speaker’s voice raised again.
There was a new tone in his speech. For him, and for everyone in the Sovereign Bastion, it was the end of the commonalities.
"Thirteen are chosen. Now... we call the Seven. The Main Parry. The ones who will stand before the Demon Lord!"
