System Breaker: Surviving Apocalypse with Nine-Tailed Kitsune-Chapter 39: New Class
Damon ignored Kitsune’s teasing and instead opened up his inventory.
Without wasting a second, he summoned one of the items from it, and in an instant, a golden card without any writing appeared in his hand.
Previously, he had used it directly from the inventory, so this was his first time actually seeing it in person.
"Huh?" Kitsune’s crimson gaze shifted toward the object, and a quick realisation flashed across her face. "Class Card?"
It was the very card Damon had received after his battle with Kade.
The killing of his ex-best friend left a scar, one that made him refuse to even acknowledge receiving it in the first place. But his recent battle against the massive orc made him realise that every piece of strength mattered, and not using a class card was a mistake which could eventually cost him his life.
[Class Card (Grade: Random)]
Unlike his previous two Class Cards, this one didn’t have a set grade. Instead, it simply said random. It didn’t take an expert to realise that it was probably luck-based, which Damon had refused to raise.
’No point dwelling on it now,’ he thought before sending a mental command directed at the item.
’Use.’
In a heartbeat, the card turned into a mist of golden dust which suddenly flew toward his abdomen.
[You have acquired an A-Rank Class: Berserker]
’A-Rank... huh...’
Damon’s lips curved into a smile at the notification. Once again, his single-point luck stat turned out to be a lucky charm. Or perhaps having an extremely low luck stat, some type of a glitch, as he had previously expected? He didn’t even dwell on that as he quickly opened up his status window and read through the list. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
There, he immediately saw two new abilities.
[Ability: Berserker’s Fury]
[Type: Active]
[Description: +15% Strength, Dexterity and Stamina. Drains 10hp per second.]
[Ability: Bloodthirst]
[Type: Passive]
[Description: Every hit on an opponent which results in blood applies a stack of Bloodthirst(Max 5). Each stack grants +2% strength against that opponent.]
Damon’s eyes widened at the text.
"What? What is it?" Kitsune asked, shifting closer to him as if she could then see through his eyes.
Unable to focus on the descriptions of his new abilities due to Kitsune’s erratic behaviour, Damon had no choice but to share the information about his new class with her using their mental connection.
Only after he had conveyed every single word to her was he able to focus on his own thoughts, as the girl was momentarily occupied with his new class and abilities.
A fifteen per cent increase to three of his stats was an insane boost in power, no matter how he looked at it. His current vitality was at 69 points, meaning his total HP was 690. Despite the drawback of losing ten health points per second, even now, he could use the ability for over a minute.
’I guess I should raise my vitality some more,’ he thought, understanding that the longer he could use Berserker’s Fury, the better.
As he moved onto his second ability, his satisfaction only deepened.
The passive ability granted him a two per cent boost in strength against an opponent. A single stack of two per cent didn’t sound like much at first, but at the total of five stacks, it totalled to a whopping ten per cent increase.
At its peak and combined with his Berserker’s Fury, he could reach a total strength stat increase of twenty-five per cent.
But before he could bask in the satisfaction of the new class for much longer, a soft voice cut his thoughts short.
"I must be your lucky charm~"
’Huh?’
Lost in thought, Damon had forgotten that Kitsune was still sitting on his lap, staring directly at him.
She tilted her head, her silver-white hair swaying gently to the side, as she stared right into his eyes.
Then, she suddenly moved forward.
Instinctively, Damon tried to move his head back, but he simply hit the soft cushion of the seat behind, unable to escape the girl’s advance.
Her movements were slow.
He could feel her warm breath advance toward his face before she suddenly pivoted to the side and stopped her lips just beside his ear.
"Don’t forget you’re mine~"
Her warm breath lingered on him for a moment longer than it should have, and for the first time, he wasn’t quite sure that she was joking.
Damon’s hands quickly found her waist. Her skin felt like the softest silk, but he didn’t focus on that part as he simply pushed her back slightly, giving himself room to breathe.
"We need to get going."
"Mmm, go where? Somewhere more comfortable?" She purred, clearly enjoying his hands on her waist a little too much.
"To test the new abilities," he replied, pushing her to the seat beside him and stepping out of the truck.
"Hmph, that’s no fun," she pouted, but he was already out of the truck.
She lingered for a moment, her lips curving to a dangerous smile as he recalled his hand placements on her.
Then, as she realised he was already gone, she quickly turned back to her fox form and leapt down from the truck, landing straight on his shoulder.

Central Station.
Four figures sat idly alongside a large wooden desk, their expression unreadable until one of them, a man wearing a cloak with a bow resting on his back, spoke.
"One of my scouts returned," he began, his eyes shifting between everyone present.
"Already?" Ivy’s brows raised in surprise until a sudden realisation struck her. "Wait... One? What about-"
"Dead." The archer cut her off, his expression cold.
"What do you mean by dead?" A broad man, sitting two seats down from Ivy, asked. "Three of them were at level 18 and two already at level 20."
A moment of silence followed as everyone present slowly realised what that meant.
"We need to push everyone to level up," Ivy suddenly stated.
"How? Everyone is already complaining about the lack of food and the amount of chores..." Victor murmured in response.
"They fight, or they starve," The broad man, Theodore, said. "We need strength, not liabilities."
"Speaking of strength... Do you think you can scramble a second scouting party?" Ivy asked, turning her gaze toward Jax, the archer.
"Probably... why?" He replied, clearly confused.
"There is someone I want you to find..."
Victor’s eyes widened slightly in realisation.
"...If we hope to capture the citadel, then we’ll need someone like him."
