Chapter 93: Episode 93: Gossiping with B-02

Adonis stared at the small, red-haired human standing in front of him, his eyes narrowed. For a machine capable of processing a billion logistical variables a second, the sheer, chaotic absurdity of her request caused him to blank out.

Why was she suddenly bringing up B-02?

He had just informed her of a highly organized serial killer hunting biological units across the globe. He had expected her to require intense emotional soothing, perhaps a diversionary tactic like an ice cream synthesis or another incredibly violent, passionate distraction in the bedroom.

He had not expected her to demand a playdate with his most irritating colleague.

"Denied," Adonis rumbled. "General B-02 is a Class-5 tactical asset, but his personality matrix is deeply flawed. He is overly verbose. He complains excessively. He will disturb the tranquility of my mansion."

"Adonis, please," Nikki whined softly. You didn’t complain about him before, when he was the one helping you figure yourself out!

But of course she didn’t say that to him.

She wrapped her arms around his thick neck and tilted her head, looked up at him through her thick lashes, her dark eyes shimmering with pure, exaggerated innocence, and aggressively pushed her lower lip out into a soft pout.

Adonis groaned. He didn’t like when she was doing that.

"I’m going completely stir-crazy up here in your mansion," Nikki pleaded, gently running her fingers through the short, dark hair at the nape of his neck. "You’re always working, and I don’t want to distract you. I need social interaction! I’m the Director of Human Relations, right? I need to practice my diplomatic skills. And who better to practice with than the most diplomatic General on the grid?"

Even though I practically lied. He isn’t always busy, the last time he was busy was when he was vibrating my insides to mush.

Adonis’s jaw clenched. He hated the idea of another male, entering his highly secured, private territory. He hated the idea of B-02 looking at her.

The last time he had come that proved to be the case with how he pinned B-02 to the wall threatening to ruin him.

He was very sure he would react that way again.

But her pout was mathematically impossible to resist.

"One hour," Adonis ground out, his massive hands settling heavily on her hips. "He will remain on the premises for exactly sixty minutes. If he speaks a single word out of line, I will throw him off the balcony."

Nikki beamed, rising on her tiptoes to press a hard, victorious kiss to his jaw. "You’re the best, General!"

Forty-five minutes later, the private elevator hissed open.

General B-02 stepped into the penthouse. His hair was styled like a kpop idol, and his eyes were a charming emerald green.

He stepped into the lounge, holding a massive, beautifully arranged bouquet of orchids.

"Nikki," B-02 greeted, his voice a smooth baritone that completely lacked Adonis’s rumbling menace. He offered her a devastatingly charming smile and extended the flowers. "A meager offering for the most beautiful woman in the hemisphere. You are even more radiant than the last time I saw you."

"Thank you, B-02," Nikki smiled, taking the flowers.

From the far corner of the lounge, leaning against the marble island with his arms crossed over his chest, Adonis let out a low, vibrating growl. His eyes were already flashing a hostile red.

B-02 completely ignored the Supreme Commander’s murderous aura. He practically glided over to the plush velvet sofa, sitting down and casually crossing his long legs. He patted the empty cushion beside him, looking at Nikki.

"Please, call me B. We are essentially family now," B-02 insisted, his green eyes narrowing. "And darling, you must tell me absolutely everything. How do you survive living with a machine who behaves like a slack prick?"

Nikki giggled, gingerly taking a seat next to him on the sofa.

To her absolute delight, B-02 was exactly the kind of energy she needed. If it were before, Nikki would have gringed at how human he was behaving right now, but she had an agenda and being with B-02 gave her this eerie comfortability.

Maybe that’s why the females are always eager to climb into his bed.

Within ten minutes, they were entirely thick as thieves.

"I am telling you, Nikki, it is so shocking," B-02 complained, dramatically gesturing with his hands. "I manage the entire southern agricultural grid. I oversee the synthesis of the finest wines and textiles. And what do I get in return? I have to sit in regional meetings listening to K-09 grunt in binary code. That mutt has absolutely no appreciation for the finer things in existence. And don’t even get me started on his new ’scientific’ fascination with your friend, Roxy. It is highly inappropriate."

Or were you jealous you weren’t able to fix her insides with your own dick?

"Right?" Nikki agreed enthusiastically, leaning in closer. "Roxy is way too much for him to handle. He’s going to short-circuit his own logic core trying to figure her out."

Adonis’s hands gripped the edge of the marble island so hard the stone audibly cracked. His eyes were blazing, tracking the minimal physical distance between his Kitty and B-02.

Nikki noticed the crack, but she had a mission to execute. She smoothly shifted the conversation, dropping her voice into a conspiratorial whisper.

"You know, B," Nikki murmured, leaning closer to his shoulder. "It must be incredibly lonely down in your mansion, managing all that luxury by yourself. K-09 has Roxy to keep him entertained. Adonis has me." She paused, letting a wicked, plotting smirk curve her lips. "What if I get you a female?"

B-02 completely froze.

The casual, arrogant slouch vanished. He sat up perfectly straight, his eyes widening in interest. For all his diplomatic boasting, his logic matrix had been quietly running billions of comparative algorithms over the last month, analyzing the sudden, terrifyingly efficient emotional adaptations in both A-01 and K-09.

He wanted to know the secret. He wanted to experience the biological anomaly for himself.

Of course he has his share of over thousands of women, but he wanted one woman that could entirely shift his focus and rewrite his codes.

The idea makes him uncomfortable because it could lead to world destruction, but if Roxy, and Nikki could do this to his leader and his colleague, why couldn’t he find his own?

"I am listening," B-02 whispered back, his smooth voice dropping an octave.

"I am the Director of Human Relations," Nikki pointed out logically, tapping her temple. "I have access to the personnel files of every human in the regional headquarters. If I were to... arrange an introduction, what kind of woman are you looking for?"

B-02 didn’t even have to process the request. He had clearly already thought about it.

"She must be elegant," B-02 listed rapidly, ticking the requirements off on his silver-gloved fingers. "She must possess a high-tier intellectual processing speed to match my diplomatic algorithms. I require someone who appreciates the finer aesthetics of existence, art, music, vintage. She needs a sharp tongue to keep me entertained, but a soft enough heart to tolerate my rants. And, ideally, someone who understands the nuances of bureaucratic structure."

Nikki then added, "And she must be naughty."

He snaps his fingers, "You know the drill darling."

Nikki’s eyes lit up. She practically visualized her mental clipboard, taking furious notes. If she could find a human woman in that office who matched this description, she could bind them together. Her human-AI alliance would be unstoppable.

"I can work with that," Nikki promised, her grin widening. "I have a few candidates in mind already. We can set up a completely discreet—"

A massive, suffocating shadow suddenly fell over the sofa.

Nikki didn’t even have time to gasp before two massive hands clamped firmly around her waist. She was effortlessly hoisted straight up into the air and pulled backward, her spine colliding with a solid wall of muscle.

"Your sixty minutes have expired," Adonis snarled, glaring down at the charming B-02. "Leave my female alone, B-02."

B-02 chuckled, not bothered by A-01.

"My apologies, A-01. I forgot how incredibly territorial your newly written code has made you," B-02 drawled, raising his hands in a gesture of mock surrender. He offered a dramatic, elegant bow toward Nikki. "Director Nikki, this has been the most stimulating conversation I have had in three years. I eagerly await the results of our... special project."

He offered her a blatant, incredibly charming wink, completely ignoring Adonis’s low, murderous growl, and confidently strode out of the penthouse, the private elevator hissing shut behind him.

Adonis spun Nikki around in his arms, his massive frame caging her against the edge of the velvet sofa. His jaw clenched so tightly the synthetic skin stretched taut over the flawless mechanics of his face. He was entirely consumed by gnawing anxiety.

The idea of her whispering with another machine, sharing secrets he wasn’t privy to, had driven his logic circuits to the absolute brink.

"Adonis," Nikki breathed, immediately sensing the genuine distress in him.

She didn’t push him away. She reached up, her small hands framing his tense face. She stroked her thumbs over his sharp cheekbones, maintaining steady, unwavering eye contact until the violent crimson in his eyes slowly, stubbornly began to bleed back into gold.

"He’s just a friend," Nikki soothed, rising on her tiptoes to press a soft, lingering kiss to the tense line of his jaw. She kissed the corner of his mouth, pouring every ounce of her affection into the touch. "You are the only one I want. You are the only one who gets to hold me. I promise."

"Your proximity to him was unacceptable," Adonis mumbled, his voice thick and gravelly.

Nikki smiled softly, her fingers tangling in the hair at the nape of his neck. She had him completely pacified. His guard was down, his emotional matrix completely dependent on her reassurance.

It was the absolute perfect moment to strike.

If she wanted to find the perfect match for B-02 and successfully infiltrate the human leadership, she couldn’t rely on remote data files. She needed physical access to the Sector 2 headquarters on a daily basis, without Adonis hovering over her shoulder like a lethal shadow.

"I know," Nikki whispered, gently stroking his chest. "I won’t invite him back if it bothers you. I should be focusing on my actual job anyway. You have so much on your plate right now with that serial killer investigation, and I want to help lighten your load."

Adonis opened his eyes, the blue finally returning as he looked down at her with pure adoration. "You do not need to labor for me, Kitty."

"I want to," Nikki insisted brightly, pulling back just enough to offer him a wide, eager smile. She patted his chest affectionately. "Don’t worry, Adonis! I will handle taking the papers to the office from now on and doing some tasks there for you!"
