Chapter 63: One

Looking at the disappearing back of the two Ajab’s face was outright deadpan. "I really wasn’t wondering." He sighed as he turned to Liah who was there the whole time. In steady steps he walked straight till he got to her face. "You heard it right?" He said, his voice still hoarse, but firm.

She had bowed at his approach, now she gazed into his eyes, their paleness was worrying, he really needed to shower she thought, before circling back to the question. "A lot of things were said, I’m not sure which His Highness is referring to."

Ajab raised a brow, as much as a lot really was said, he only thought it not too much of a loss, since he had gained something right from the beginning. "I have a free rein with the Royal Treasury."

Laih was puzzled, her eyes closing in a squint, she wasn’t following. "Your Highness?"

"Mother said I get snacks."

"Oh." Made sense, but still. "I’m not sure she meant a free rein Your Highness."

Ajab’s expression didn’t change, like he had need to bother himself, all that mattered was that she bore witness. "I’ll be taking my shower now." He said, as he stroded, his steps barely looking like that of a living being, one moment firm, the next frail, like he could collapse at any moment.

Getting to his bath tub and facing his reflection, Ajab wasn’t sure he wanted to be a part of the day, if only he had a way of skipping a day, or taking it out of the picture entirely, he sighed.

After his bath, seeing the robe being brought to him, caused him to sigh even more. After grandfather’s burial things were back to usual, at least for him. But only that now, they just might have gotten worse, since he’d have limited ways of escape.

According to the curriculum father had set for him, he had to be in the train grounds.

After dorning his robe, he walked out his room, Liah and the rest of his maids, trailing behind him. Getting out he saw a very familiar figure, standing at the front of his own chamber, his hands in a cross, his robe quite unusual at least for him. Seeing him —his robe more especially — Ajab frowned. Upon getting to him, he halted as he stared at him.

"Your own days of mourning doesn’t want to come to an end?"

Elmah bowed as he approached answering him with his head still bowed. "It’s just my attire for the day."

Ajab’s eyes still locked on him, his brows arched, the person before him, usually just went with damp colors or anything devoid of light and happiness, he only wore a bright white during the last days of the mourning, and now he was on a white?. "Your attire for the day? Who arranged it?" It was a pointless question as he already knew Elmah wore his own things according to however he wanted, something he kind of fell short of, having all his attires already pre-planned leaving him no room for alterations, suggestions or even refusal. But seeing him on a completely different attire, it really had to be caused by something else at the very least.

Elmah raised his head to met his Highness’s gaze. "I did."

A moment passed between them, just eyes locked and the little wind that decided to pass between them.

"Hm" was the only sound from Ajab as he withdrew his gaze, and continued walking, Elmah following, both were headed to the same destination —The Training Grounds.

The sight before the duo was one that brought them shock, their eyes wide, with a pinch of twitching for Ajab. The supposed Training Grounds were ulterly in ruins, from top to bottom. The base floor was the appointed train ground for Ajab, and now it laid in ruins. From the outside he could see the massive cracks but only from within was he able to have the proper view. The floor had loads of broken debris on it, like a full house had collapsed on it, and the roof was barely a roof, bearing a full hole in it, that did not seem to have an end, for as far as his eyes could see, the hole just kept at it. Although the duo were shocked, they were so for completely different reasons. Elmah was stroked, his eyes still wide at the sight and his mind wondering what could have caused such possiblity to the place. He knew how steady the walls were. He was never a part of anything, but he knew the sturdiness of the reinforced walls of the King’s Train grounds was one of the many stont achievements of the Ecnes Household, Duke Ecnes himself built them. So the idea of their collapse got him surprised for a moment and then intrigued in the next. Looking at the steep debris and the shape of a perfectly slammed body on it, he could tell it was an individual that got rammed in, whatever power it took to achieve that got his eyes glinting for a moment.

Ajab on the other hand; the shock in his eyes was readily exchanged with that of overwhelming excitement. If the train grounds were this ruined for whatever reason, it could mean only one thing—no lessons for the day. The grin on his face widened the more his thoughts settled, nothing spelled perfect as much as an avoided class, looking around, Lord Halh was no where to be found also. Ecstacy.

"Ahem." Ajab coughed reverting to his composed self. He turned to Liah, who also looked shocked at the sight. Inquiring from her what had happened seemed far fetched, not that it mattered to him. Nonetheless, it wouldn’t cost much to ask all the same.

"Do you know what happened here?" He asked.

His Highness’s question, caused her to snap out of her momentarily daze.

"I do not Your Highness. But from the lingering dust it seemed to have happened yet this morning."

The Eunch brings the matter of Linh destroying the entire place before the King and it was interjected during the court proceedings, he had destroyed the palace treasures, did one know the cost of a single Grade 12 puppet that he even destroyed two Grade 13?

Then Ecnes can use magic to allow their own bodies hold weapons, but even then, one can only trian and effectively use one.
