Taming the Hybrid Mate: Desired by Five Alphas-Chapter 191: The sports festival 1
Andria’s POV
"Bullies? When you know you. Does it feel familiar to you, Alexa and Tracy, back in the days?" Becca asked, smirking at Tricia.
Tricia’s throat bobbed. For a second, the fire in her eyes flickered, replaced by the naked panic of someone cornered by their own reflection.
"You three love ganging up, don’t you?" Tricia snapped, though her voice trembled ever so slightly.
I stepped forward, meeting her gaze through the mirror. "We don’t gang up on people who aren’t asking for it. If you wanted peace, you would have walked in with peace. You should see yourself in the mirror now."
Her lips parted, but nothing came out.
Allison closed her locker and tied her sneakers. "We are done with this conversation. If you want to cheer, you cheer. Suppose you don’t, go sulk somewhere. But don’t stand here pretending you can stop us from performing."
"My group..." Tricia started.
"...can do what they want, stop being a tyrant, those times are far gone, and the spotlight is no longer on you," I cut in, lifting my bag. "You feel us?"
Becca clapped her hands once. "Ladies, we have a field waiting. Tricia, if you are coming, don’t drag your feet."
Tricia clenched her jaw, stepped aside and let us pass. She looked totally defeated and pissed off. She twisted her lips, stamping her feet hard against the tiled floor.
The backstage buzz was electric. Music thumped faintly through the floorboards as one group finished their routine on stage. The muffled cheers of the audience rolled like thunder.
A she-wolf student, probably from another group, peeked backstage. "Group C, you are up next!"
Allison adjusted her ribbon. "That’s us."
Becca checked her ponytail. "Let’s bring this home."
I inhaled, grounding myself. I wasn’t so good at dancing, but I’m going to put in my best into this one, because my group, especially Becca, depends on our collective efforts now.
Tricia joined us backstage by the curtain, arms folded. I was surprised; she was, in fact, dressed. I wonder what she has up her sleeve now. I thought she wasn’t going to join us.
"I’m not dancing with you," she said.
Allison shrugged immediately. "Fine."
Becca didn’t even look at her. "Your loss."
I simply nodded. "Suit yourself.". I knew she wasn’t going to join us after all; she just dressed up and came up here to break the news to us. She shouldn’t have bothered herself.
Or did she think that by doing so, it would hurt us more? Well, she is ridiculous if she felt that.
Tricia scoffed but didn’t move. She stayed there, watching us walk past her, her nails digging into her folded arms.
"Now presenting... Group C!" Macy announced.
We stepped onto the bright open stage.
The roar of the crowd washed over me, removing the cold feet that were almost overcoming me.
The music burst through the speakers, vibrating through my bones, and I was in the mood at once.
Allison was already smiling, feeding off the energy. Becca flipped her hair back with confidence.
I stepped to my mark, heart steadying, mind sharpening. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Then the beat dropped.
We moved in sync, sharp, fluid and powerful. The cheers rose every time one of us landed a flip or nailed a spin. Allison lifted into a perfect jump. Becca handled the mid-air toss with insane precision. I closed the final set with the high kick and twirl we rehearsed, sticking the landing so cleanly the crowd erupted.
I caught Aven in the audience, grinning like he had been waiting for this exact moment. Damon gave a playful whistle. Tristan smirked, arms folded.
And in that moment, I felt a mix of pride and happiness.
When we were done dancing and took our final pose, the stadium erupted.
Applause. Shouts. Stomping feet. I was smiling from ear to ear, along with Allison and Becca.
My lungs burned in the best way. We bowed and stepped off stage, giggling to each other.
Tricia stood still by the backstage curtain, her expression unreadable, tight-lipped, stiff, and strangely quiet.
She didn’t say a word as we walked past her, but there was a quiet look of jealousy and a promise that our group wouldn’t make it to the finals.
The cheerleading performances ended, and the soccer field preparations began. The crowd shifted eagerly, ready for the match.
"This is the final sport, I hope you all are ready," Mel shouted.
Groups brought their representatives out to the field. And they played, one group against the other, until there were only two groups left.
Group C, which comprises The Titan wolves and Khalil of Westbrook, versus Group B, which includes The Alpha successors.
The entire stadium buzzed with excitement; they were eager to see which group would emerge victorious. The two groups were different forces, very good at the game, so it was a difficult choice.
I leaned forward in my seat, excitement humming through me.
"Well, I can’t even be in total support of any group," Allison whispered.
I understand. Khalil, her mate, is in the opposing group, and the other group, which is her own, also includes her brother. That’s enough of a dilemma.
Damon stretched dramatically, showing off, earning shrieks from some she-wolves nearby.
Aven rolled his eyes but smirked.
Tristan cracked his knuckles, stamping his feet with the arrogant confidence of a winner.
Khalil, tall and annoyingly composed, exchanged a nod with Aven before taking his position.
The referee blew the whistle.
Almost instantly, the game turned fierce.
Aven stole the ball with a lightning-fast sweep, sprinting across the field like the wind itself answered to him. Titan Wolves chased hard.
Khalil blocked a defender with an elegant sidestep, then took the ball from Aven, passing it to the Titan wolves, who ran swiftly just to be sidestepped by Tristan, who took the ball from them, handing it back to Aven.
"Go, Aven!" Becca yelled beside me
Tristan intercepted a heavy tackle, shoving the Titan player aside with a growl. The Titans weren’t giving up either; they pushed back violently, too, although not with the same pressure as Tristan.
Damon moved with precision, blocking off all defenders as Aven shot the ball into the air with such swift force that I could have sworn it should have reached its destination, but it was blocked.
The crowd groaned.
