Chapter 217: A fight ensues

Andria’s POV

Alexa ignored Becca’s words and continued to strut towards Allison. Allison looked rather amused as the staggering figure of Alexa approached.

Tricia twisted her mouth in amusement, and soon she was also up on her feet.

Sensing the situation, I stood up, Becca also moved, and every other wolf adjusted.

"Allison, I dare you to say those words you said again...it’s a dare game, right?" Alexa said, chuckling wickedly.

I could see Khalil take up a protective stance close to Allison, yet Allison looked unfazed.

"Alexa, I’m not your problem. You are your problem," Allison replied nonchalantly, waving her right hand dismissively in the air.

Alexa took another step forward, staring down at Alexa, who hadn’t even cared to stand up from where she sat.

"Repeat those words," Alexa slurred. This time, her eyes changed; they were almost golden.

"Oh shit, I’m scared, Alexa, just get out from my face, you are disturbing our night," Allison replied.

In that instant, Alexa lunged forward, attempting to grab Allison’s hair, but Allison dodged it, getting up immediately from her seat, and exchanging positions with Alexa.

Alexa quickly stood up and lunged forward again.

"Hey, come on, stop this already, this was supposed to be a peaceful game night," Becca called out.

I knew it; nothing ever turned out good, provided it included Tricia or Alexa. They were like a jinx to whatever good fortune you’ve got planned.

Alexa paid deaf ears.

I looked towards Aven and Damon for help. I didn’t want this little fight escalating into something else.

Allison had already landed deadly blows on Alexa’s face, and yet she lunged forward.

Aven walked towards Allison, holding her back, while Damon held back Alex, who was already spitting out blood.

The moment Aven and Damon separated the two of them, the living room sank into a loud silence. Everyone stared at each other, and chanting and jeering stopped.

Alexa was still trying to twist out of Damon’s grip, breath ragged, hair wild, face already swelling from Allison’s blows. Allison, on the other hand, looked like she had just finished a light exercise. A little pressed breathing, nothing more. Her knuckles were still curled, trembling, as though wanting to go again.

This game night didn’t go as I expected, but at least it wasn’t my nightmare, and neither was I the one fighting.

"Enough! Enough!" Becca shouted, voice cracking loud enough to echo through the entire living quarters.

The room that was once quiet a few seconds ago became noisy again, picking up from where they had left off, although this time Alexa and Allison weren’t fighting; they were held tightly by Aven and Damon.

Whispers erupted. Students backed away, some spilling their cups, others freezing entirely, and others scrambling for their bags, eager to flee before the authorities were called. I knew it. I knew from the moment Alexa staggered toward us that the night would turn into a disaster.

"Let me go! She insulted me!" Alexa cried, slurring deeper, struggling uselessly.

"You insulted yourself," Allison snapped back, still held by Aven like she weighed nothing.

"Allison, please," Khalil warned, not looking at her; his eyes were on Alexa’s rapidly darkening cheekbone. His expression was cold but not disappointed; there was even a hint of pride in his expression that he didn’t need to have to protect Allison all the time like a damsel in distress.

Although a part of me wondered if he feared she had gone too far.

"Everyone, please settle down!" Becca tried again, but the room was already breaking apart.

Mel had disappeared to a corner and was pretending to be another spectator, like she had absolutely nothing to do with the planning. Tricia hovered near Alexa, wide-eyed, clutching her arm, but I knew well enough she was only doing it now because Alexa looked too weak to stand.

Alexa pushed Damon off with the last ounce of strength she had, but her knees buckled. She dropped straight to the floor, and she didn’t get up. It was more like a slump rather than a slight fall.

"Alexa!" Tricia gasped.

Her voice laced with something more than just concern, it was more like horror.

"Somebody please help her up, she isn’t standing," Tricia yelled, pulling Alexa’s head onto her lap.

Alexa tried to get up again, but her vision dipped. Her eyes rolled back. She slumped forward onto Damon’s chest.

"Hey, she’s not conscious," Damon said sharply.

"Move," Aven ordered. He knelt beside her, checking her pulse with a sudden seriousness that made my chest tighten.

"Her heartbeat is too light," Aven muttered. "And she seems more drunk than just tipsy."

"But it was one shot," Tricia whispered, wearing a confused expression.

"No," Aven said. "This is more than one shot."

Tricia paled. "No. No, she only... she only drank..."

"Whatever she drank, it wasn’t from us. She probably took it before she came, and it just started to manifest now," Becca said firmly.

My stomach twisted. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Alexa’s limbs went limp. Damon scooped her off the ground effortlessly.

"We’re taking her to the school clinic," Allison announced, all humor gone from her tone.

"Becca, end this," Khalil said quietly. His eyes, for once, were not softened by Allison nearby. They were hardened with the duty of an Alpha. "Now."

Becca swallowed hard, nodded, then turned to the crowd with a shaky breath.

"The game night is over!" she shouted. "Everyone, please return to your dorms immediately. Now!"

No one argued. Everyone was too tense to argue. They scurried out of the apartment, whispering to each other. I did not doubt that whatever had happened tonight would be the headline tomorrow, and I hope to be safe.

Aven and Damon walked out with Alexa. Khalil and Allison followed. Tricia scrambled after them with tears that felt too dramatic to be real.

"You should keep those dramatic tears to yourself. She brought whatever happened to her on herself. Besides, she isn’t going to die from some alcohol intake or blows. She is a wolf, and an Alpha wolf at that. So stop being overly dramatic," Allison shunned.

Tricia unexpectedly stopped her fake outbursts.

"Let’s clean up this mess," I told Becca.

"Where’s Mel?" Becca asked, "She is supposed to be here; she has been acting so off all night."

"Well, that’s her problem, not ours. She is probably still pissed off that she didn’t get to host the game night. Don’t worry, it will wear off," I told Becca, patting her lightly.

"The game night turned out chaotic at the end," Becca stated, pouting. I could tell she wasn’t satisfied with the night’s outcome.

"You don’t have to bother about that. The game night was too good, Alexa had to give us a little show," I teased her, hoping to take her out of her bad mood, and luckily it worked.

********* The Next morning*********

My phone chimed relentlessly and annoyingly beside my bed, vibrating under my pillow, waking me up.

I picked up my phone, and it was Allison.

"Hello, what’s the urgency?" I answered with my early morning coax voice.

"Check the Academy’s media messages," she replied and then put the phone down.

My stomach plummeted.

What could this be all about now? I hope whatever happened last night didn’t escalate.

I sat up, my head pounding, not from alcohol, but the stress of everything that had happened the previous night. Memories of Alexa collapsing, Tricia’s scream, Damon carrying her away... all came back to me.

I read the message in the media.

There would be a general compulsory assembly for those who were present at the game night organised at Aria, Becca, and Mel’s apartment last night. News has gotten to me that there was an act of violence which goes against the school rules, so if you were present in that event, your attention is needed, especially the event hosts, Aria and Becca.

I quickly dressed and left my room, the hallway buzzing with whispers. Every wolf who had attended the game night wore the same expression: dreading whatever awaited us.

The moment I stepped into the headmistress’s office, her eyes fell on me so intently that she could devor me if given the chance to.

The headmistress stood up from her chair and headed to where I stood—Stern, hair in her tight bun.

My breath hitched a little.

Sir Kaelric wasn’t there; he probably has a significant business to attend to.

He was always present during cases like this, but his absence today made me worry about him all of a sudden.

Becca walked into the office shortly after and hurried to my side, face pale. "Oh goddess, Aria, we are in deep trouble. We shouldn’t have allowed Alexa and Tricia into the game night."

"You and me both," I murmured.

Before we could say more, the headmistress lifted her hand. Silence flooded the office immediately.

"I have received reports," she began, voice sharp as a whip, "that you all attended or organised an event last night." She said the word as it disgusted her, "that resulted in a violent assault that landed a student in the school clinic."

She took in a deep breath, as if she was organizing her following words.
