Taming the Hybrid Mate: Desired by Five Alphas-Chapter 218: Thrown into detention
Andria’s POV
"And worse," she continued, "I was informed that the event was not merely a casual gathering, but a targeted, coordinated attempt to humiliate and harm a particular student."
My heart slammed against my ribs.
No, someone was trying to frame me. How did she come about such allegations?.
"This school will not tolerate bullying," she pressed on. "Especially not against a fellow student competing in the upcoming prom event. This attack seems rooted in jealousy, intimidation, and sabotage."
I felt the entire room turn to me. I knew that inviting Alexa or Tricia would somehow backfire.
I bit the inside of my mouth to keep the anger boiling inside me from spilling over and confirming the allegations.
My breath froze.
Becca grasped my hand, whispering, "What is she saying? I really don’t understand where this speech is headed."
Allison just came a few minutes ago, together with Khalil. Allison, standing beside Khalil, stiffened as the headmistress continued.
"Aria, Becca, and Allison," she called.
Every head snapped our way.
My pulse roared in my ears.
"Step forward."
We stepped out slowly, but my head wasn’t hung low. I wondered why Mel wasn’t mentioned; she was part of us, she threw the party with us.
My voice cracked before I could even stop it. "Headmistress, we didn’t..."
She cut me off with a single finger raised.
"I did not ask for your explanation."
It was then that the realization hit me: Mel had been angry all night because she wasn’t the game master, and must have been so happy with how the event turned out that she couldn’t wait to give the headmistress misinformation this morning.
Probably one of the reasons she isn’t with us this morning is that she was part of the organizers. The only logical reason behind her not being called out is this.
The room buzzed in shock.
The headmistress never, never dismissed a student’s defense so blatantly.
"I have been told," she continued, "that Aria and her friends organized this event as a trap. That Alexa was lured there, intoxicated, and then physically attacked."
"What?!" I gasped.
"That’s a lie!" Becca said, eyes wide with disbelief. "Headmistress, I organized most of it, Aria didn’t even, and Alexa wasn’t..."
"Enough," she ordered, her voice rising a pitch higher and firmer than usual.
I knew she despised bullying, but I didn’t think it went far toward denying suspected bullies a chance to defend themselves.
She never thought that it could be the other way round, that the story might be a lie, and the suspects may not have even indulged the victims at all.
A coldness spread through my chest.
The headmistress turned to the office. "Alexa remains unconscious. The extent of her injuries is still being assessed. Until then, you three will stay in detention until I conclude my investigation."
Becca grabbed my arm. "Us? All of us?"
"Allison engaged in the fight," the headmistress explained, "Aria and Becca orchestrated the event. Whether or not you physically struck Alexa, you are responsible for her condition."
I felt everything inside me twist.
"But, we didn’t spike her drink! She came of her own will," I said desperately. "We didn’t lay hands on her. She attacked Allison first! I’m the student council president, I wouldn’t let that happen."
"Yes," Allison added, stepping forward. "Headmistress, you know me. I wouldn’t start a fight without provocation."
The headmistress sighed. "Allison... your clean record is the only reason you are not suspended. But you still participated in violence."
She turned to me next.
"And Aria... I am deeply disappointed."
My heart broke.
She had never looked at me with such disgust before.
"If you all have noticed," she said, addressing the entire hall again, "I hate bullies. And Aria had presented herself as an anti-bully since she arrived at this academy.
But now, she has turned around to become one. She is supposed to be the student council president, protecting and defending the students’ rights, but she got herself mixed up with things like this."
That sentence pierced deeper than any blade.
I opened my mouth to defend myself, but the look she gave me shut me down instantly.
"You will go to detention," she commanded. "Now."
Allison looked furious, Becca seemed very disappointed and confused, and I, on the other hand, couldn’t tell how I felt. A whole storm of emotions was brewing inside me.
As I turned to leave, my eyes scanned the crowd in search of Mel.
There she was, at the back of the Alpha successors, trying to hide her guilty face from me, but I had already caught it. Our eyes met, and I couldn’t even see any sign of remorse in her eyes.
I should have known that just a thin line separated her from her friend Larissa. They both act on their jealousy. It’s just that Mel is less brutal than Larissa.
I noticed her withdrawal last night, her strange attitude and the way her eyes glistened when things went south. From an angry and uncomfortable face to a lit-up, enthusiastic and excited face.
My breath hitched, probably out of anger, as I crossed paths with her on my way to the exit. There was a known tension between us, and she hurriedly looked away.
Just the confirmation I needed to know who not only sabotaged me, but also lied, putting my office as the student council president at risk, so much for friendship.
As we were escorted toward detention, Becca whispered angrily, with a hushed and hurried tone:
"Aria... why her? Why aren’t they questioning Mel? She was part of the planning, too. Why isn’t she heading to the detention room with us?"
"I don’t know," I whispered back. "But something isn’t right," I concealed my suspicion. I would rather not start a rumor until the truth comes out.
Allison exhaled sharply. "Someone fed the headmistress the wrong narrative. And whoever did it was there last night. Someone who wanted Alexa hurt and someone who wanted us blamed for it."
My chest tightened.
Everything I noticed pointed towards Mel, but I refuse to make any accusations without proof.
"Yes, that is true. But who could that be?" I asked her.
As the detention room door shut behind us with a resounding click, sealing our fates for the day, one thing became painfully clear:
Last night wasn’t just a disaster.
It was a setup. It was either that Alexa intentionally did this, or fell foolishly into another’s plan. Because the planner wanted me punished just for organizing the party, or it could even be deeper than that.
The planner, according to my dream, wanted chaos surrounding me happening on that game night, just that it wasn’t me fighting, but Allison. But somehow the planner found a way to put me in.
I wouldn’t blame Mel too much, because she might not even be the problem, like I think she is. She isn’t that smart either.
But I have been told not to underestimate anyone. She may not be smart, but she may be very malicious.
"Well, at last I smell the detention room," Becca whistled.
"This is my first time here, too," Allison added.
"This isn’t my first time detained, but I wasn’t taken to this room on my first detention, because my offence was considered minor. I was taken to the other punishment room, which has a bookshelf that is never arranged. I’m sure that if you go there now, the books would still be littered on the floor, staring back at you.
Sometimes I wonder if it was an invisible being pushing the books off the shelf, until I was sent there as a punishment. It was then I noticed that the books were intentionally littered as punishment to students."
Allison burst out laughing, and Mel followed. I soon joined them.
This detention wouldn’t be bad after all.
*******Tracy’s POV*******
The blaring of my phone woke me up from sleep. It was her.
"Done. I made sure the game night was a disaster. Alexa somehow fell into the plan, and now she is being hospitalized," she said.
"And what about Aria? What happens to her if my friend is being hospitalized? Did Aria hurt her?" I asked not out of concern for Alexa, but out of anger that Aria could have beaten her.
I hated finding out that Aria had some sort of power or strength.
"No, Aria didn’t hurt Alexa. Allison did. But Aria is being detained for even organizing the game night at all," she replied.
"Perfect, at least, she gets to taste what I had tasted," I laughed out loud.
I haven’t laughed this way since I left Ashwood. But hearing Aria was being detained made my heart merry.
"Remember your promise to help me free my friend," she said in a low tone.
"Don’t spoil the fun. Aria is currently in detention; she could be out soon. I want her expelled just like I was. If you can get her out of Ashwood, then I assure you, your friend will return," I answered, unable to contain my excitement.
