Two individuals wearing masks, one woman and one man,, both stood outside of the auction venue looking at the huge shining runic formation.

(????): "We are late!"

(?????): "Better late than never, let’s go.."

Both of them disappeared heading towards the inside of the venue.

...….

Alan and Carla, who were both frozen and unable to move a muscle, watched the horrifying humanoid flesh appearing out of nowhere in front of them.

Humanoid-shaped flesh: "Here you are. I have been looking for you. Now join me... Lose your mortal shell and become part of me. Elevate your standing in this life by giving your finite life to the immortal me."

One thought dominated Alan, which was the despair spreading through his own soul as he felt powerless against such an unreasonable existence.

In his mind, only one word repeated itself again and again.

Move…move…move…move…move…

As if he was trying to hypnotize himself into moving.

Suddenly the void was shaking. The space around them was trembling; a masked man appeared out of nowhere with a huge broadsword on his back.

(????): "I have been looking for you…"

As soon as he finished his sentence, the humanoid shape was sent flying to the other side of the corridor.

Even Alan could not register what happened.

(????): "Get out of here, boy; it is time for the adults to play."

As he walked by Alan, he was completely nonchalant as if he was walking into a supermarket.

Alan felt the pressure that was restraining him evaporate. Not wasting any millisecond, he immediately teleported 1 km away from the auction venue.

(?????): "Phew, a rare spatial ability, now that’s something you don’t see every day."

The humanoid-shaped flesh: "Damn you, you’ve let them escape!!!"

(????): "Don’t be so angry; I can be a very good date…"

....

Carla and Alan appeared 1 km away from the auction venue; both of them were shaking, especially Carla, who felt that she truly gained a new life today, as she could not help herself; she hugged Alan tightly.

Cold sweat was trailing down Alan’s forehead as he could not believe how they were able to get out of such a hopeless situation.

Sadly for them, the calm did not last when the whole auction venue exploded like an erupting volcano, sending them flying further away.

Alan hugged Carla tightly as he stabilized himself and landed on the ground, looking at the unbelievable sight in front of him.

The huge facility that was used to hold the auction was blown to smithereens.

Within the fire’s heart, two shadows danced like lost souls, their forms flickering and merging with the flames.

The masked man and the humanoid-shaped flesh clashed above the remains of the building.

Every time they clashed, a huge amount of energy scattered, destroying everything in the surrounding area.

Buildings, streets, and shops all turned into ash.

Within him, he felt like a mortal watching and standing in between two gods fighting, and when gods fight, mortals suffer.

Dead bodies filled the streets. The sounds of crying, a desperate pleading for help, can be heard all over the place.

One moment he was enjoying his day alongside his family and friends, and the next he found himself on a battlefield that was unforgiving for the weak.

His heart was beating faster with every moment going by. This fight, although confined within the formation control, can destroy the whole town.

As if he had made a decision, He looked at the information as he concentrated all the Ena in his eyes.

[Ancient summoning formation]

Description: [A runic ancient formation to summon the ancient claw demon AZO’TH from the beyond. The formation is incomplete due to a shortage of necessary ingredients to complete it.]

[To cancel the formation in its current state, you need to do the following:]

Alan tried to look more, but he felt a burning pain in his eyes, gritting his teeth as he continued looking and trying to find more information on how to cancel this formation to prevent this battle from continuing any longer, as it will destroy the whole town at this rate.

Blood started coming down from his eyes, to which Carla was so concerned, but before she voiced her concerns, she saw how he was completely focused on watching the formation.

[Cancel the following ruins ᚱᚨᚷᛟᛁᛋᚨ by disturbing the Ena flow to erase this formation….]

Alan: "Ahhhhhhhhhhhh…"

With his hands on his eyes, he felt like his eyeballs went on fire, but he did not stop as he asked Nova to try and use her telepathy to connect him to that masked man.

Nova: "Master wants to talk to you…"

(????): "Who!! Don’t you see that I’m busy with my date?

Alan: "You can’t continue with this fight; you will be destroying the whole town. You just need to erase the formation by canceling these runes in the sequence I’m giving to you ᚱᚨᚷᛟᛁᛋᚨ.."

(?????): "Good, then I will cut this date short…"

Carla: "Alan Your eyes are bleeding so much. What are you doing?

Alan: "Don’t worry, I finished…."

Before the sentence was even finished, Alan collapsed, losing his consciousness.

...

When Alan woke up again, he was in total darkness. He felt like he was lying in bed. He used his hand to touch his face, gently feeling the bandages over his eyes.

Carla: "Alan You’re finally awake; you scared the hell out of me."

Alan: "So I lost consciousness. What happened after that??"

With tears in her eyes, Carla started recounting all the events that happened after.

Carla: "After you lost consciousness, the formation suddenly disappeared, and a masked woman put down the whole fire. Then the search and rescue effort started; too many people had died, with over 1,500 people already confirmed, double that number who have not been found yet. Many of the high-class beast tamers were killed in the venue. The only silver lining here is that the destruction did not spread all over town and was contained within the area around the auction in the northern district of the town.

The federation guards were deployed immediately after surrounding the whole area.

The mayor is dead, which will cause waves and a serious response from the authorities.

Thankfully, Grandpa Yan and his friends were wise enough to evacuate early, so they are safe.

Auntie Ariana, Laura, and Lily are at home with the Hunts, and we are now in Howler Hospital, your eyes…."

Carla fell into silence as she could not find the strength to continue talking.

Alan: "It is okay; you can tell me. I know what I did, and I know there’s a price to pay."

Carla: "I’m so sorry, Alan. If you had evacuated first, you wouldn’t have..."

Carla started crying as she felt frustrated; she was happy that Alan went back to save her, but at the same time, she felt that she was the reason he lost his sight and almost his life.

Alan: "What are you talking about? Of course I will go back. When I said we are a family, I meant it. My eye condition is not your fault. That would be the consequences that I will have to deal with because of a decision I made, and I would not change it. I would probably do it again if I were in the same situation."

Carla: "The doctor said that outwardly there was no damage to your nerves, but for some reason the neurons are not working at all, as if there is no electric signaling between your brain and eyes. They said that it may be temporary, as you may get your sight back at any moment, or it may be permanent."

Alan: "Ahh, whatever comes will come, so cheer up a little. We are alive; I truly thought we were done for this time."

Carla smiled gently.

Carla: "Me too."

Alan: "Let’s go home. I bet Mom and Lily are worried about me and you, so let’s go and show our faces. But please tell them that my eye thing is temporary; I don’t want them to worry."

Carla: "We can’t go yet."

Alan: "Why?"

Carla: "As we were one of the few people who went out last, a captain of the guards wants to debrief us."

Alan: "Let’s go get debriefed then."

As he stood up, the darkness remained as he could not see or perceive anything.

Carla took his hand as they walked out of the hospital and headed to the temporary post for the guards.

They were separated into two different rooms.

With one guard standing in front of each of them. As the debriefing started.

"My name is Captain Morgan. I will be conducting your briefing today. Please put your hand in the crystal in front of you. First, your full name, please."

Alan: "Alan Ortex"

Morgan: "age"

Alan: "16"

Morgan: "What was the purpose of you visiting the auction?"

Alan: "I work as an appraising master in the Blue River Chamber of Commerce. I also come with my family and friends to enjoy the event and see if I can help President Carla and head of operation Laura."

Morgan: "Are you close to your president, Carla Fairfax?"

Alan: "Yes, beyond the professional aspect, we are very good friends; she visited my family many times."

Morgan: "Please recount all the events that happened from the start to the point where you exited the auction venue; try to remember every single detail."

Alan: "Ok, so I arrived at the VIP chamber that my family and our friends were at and…"

Morgan: "So a friend of the family managed to get everyone out, but you stayed to find the president."

Alan: "Yes."

Morgan: "Continue, please."

Alan continues with his recounting of the events.

Morgan: "You witness the moment where that humanoid-shaped flesh almost kills a hundred high-class beast tamers with a single attack, and yet you continue your way to the backstage. That’s either very courageous of you or stupid."

Alan: "I will not lie; I was terrified, but I had a chance to help President Carla, and I decided to take it."

Morgan: "After you killed multiple fanatics and rejoined President Carla, you said that shortly after, as you wanted to get out, you felt suppressed and lost your ability to move, both of you."

Alan: "Yes."

Morgan: "And the reason the lunatics were searching for President Carla is that they wanted the soul of a wronged pure maiden to complete the ceremony of summoning."

Alan: "Yes."

Morgan: "And there is another party that did not show up that was supposed to bring an item or a treasure that is called the stone of the Dead, which is also necessary to complete the ceremony."

Alan: "Although it felt like it was carefully planned, the execution was terrible, and that was a blessing for all of us because if that thing was truly summoned, I don’t think Howler Town would exist anymore."

Morgan: "I believe it’s your first time meeting those fanatics, right?"

Alan: "No, this is my second time."

Morgan: "Can you please tell me more about this?"

Alan: "I ran into a group of them. I do not know if they are the same believers of the same cult, but 3000 km away from Howler Town, I clashed with them when I found out that they were hunting someone. As I do not want to give the other party identity, please excuse me from telling anymore."

Morgan: "What happened to the other party you encountered in the forest?"

Alan: "As per federation rules, a traitor is always handed death, so I killed them all. But at that time they did something like this as if they were trying to summon some kind of entity. It felt sinister and evil for me at the time, and I have been lucky to finish them off before they could."

Morgan: "Did you notice anything else out of the ordinary at any point?"

Alan: "I think I have told you everything, other than their crazy devotion, which reached the point where they can kill themselves for some unknown dangerous entity; there’s nothing for me to add."

Morgan: "Thank you for your time. You have provided us with much valuable information. Please stay contactable in the next week in case we need to talk more to you."

Alan: "Okay, but you did not ask me about the man who saved my life."

Morgan smiled strangely and said

Morgan: "There is no need; you should head home; you have been through a lot."
