601 Taunting the groom 𝗳𝒓eℯ𝘄𝘦𝚋𝙣o𝚟𝗲Ɩ. 𝑐𝒐𝘮

“Is there something you want to tell me?” he asked and Li Ran instantly became very dodgy?

He shook his head like a rattle and said, “Nope nothing... oh look they are finally out. This is going to be interesting.”

Yi Chen wanted to press him for an answer but the was a more pressing matter right now. In front of him, the door was barred and from Lynn Feng’s devilish smile, she didn’t plan on letting him in unless he paid big time.

“Uh marshal, what can we do for you?” she said with her hands crossed on her chest. Behind her was secretary K and a group of older men that he was very familiar with.

His eyes squinted when he also noticed a very familiar face. It was Zi Han’s great aunt Hyun a.k.a the hair butcher. Just seeing her made his spine quiver. There was no way she would insist on giving him a hair cut so he could get Zi Han, right?

“We are here to pick up the bride,” said Li Ran jumping the gun and Lynn Feng handed it to him with no hesitation.

“Is your name Marshal?” she said and Lynn Feng pointed at Yi Chen as he stammered,

“But but but, his name isn’t Marshal ei either.

Why was he stammering? It’s because he was in the presence of the god of StarNet. The woman who single-handedly made the best hackers in the Onyx federation cry. Lynn Feng almost rolled her eyes but she didn’t. She was a very classy lady after all.

.....

“I am here to get my bride,” said Yi Chen and Lynn Feng was really making it difficult for him.

“There is no bride for you here, only a groom,” he said and Yi Chen pursed his lips trying to suppress his anxiety.

Negative thoughts like Zi Han running away and maybe someone else blocking this marriage sprung up again and he tried to suppress them. “I am here to pick up my groom,” he said and Lynn Feng smiled happily.

She was about to mention the toll fees to enter through the door when Li Ran took out several red envelopes. Yes, they went for physical Star currency known as golden notes.

They were rare and expensive, and this groom was willing to splurge on his bride... oh sorry, groom. The negotiations to enter through the door began and Lynn Feng opened the red envelope and the golden notes inside were eight of them. It seemed this young man was very knowledgeable. The number eight represented wealth but it still wasn’t enough to let him in.

She passed the red envelope to her boyfriend standing behind her while the older gentlemen behind her were jeering him on. This groom was not only handsome but quite generous.

“Not enough. Keep them coming,” she said and Li Ran handed over the red envelopes like a diligent accountant.

The amount increased and Lynn Feng was very satisfied. She stepped aside and the elders behind him pulled Yi Chen in with excitement.

It started truly feeling like the wedding had begun.

Yi Chen thought that after emptying his wallet he would get to pick up his man but nope. Instead, he was blocked still with no Zi Han in sight.

Yi Chen had never been married nor had he attended a lot of weddings so he had no idea what was happening right now.

Lynn Feng went all the way. Yi Chen was made to play wedding games, he had to drink some bitter tea and Li Ran wasn’t spared either. He had come with Yi Chen so he had suffered too.

Her excuse was that it was to prove that he was willing to weather through joys and sorrows with his spouse.

Just when the horrible tea was still messing with his taste buds, Hyun came over with some spicy and bitter foods. The groom soon knew what true suffering was. Yi Chen’s cheeks were red and his expression was ugly.

The good thing was that the crowd was entertained at his expense but he was more than willing to go through it all for Zi Han. At this point, Zi Feiji couldn’t help but want to say ‘just give the man his groom’.

But that wasn’t the end. The cold-faced king of the north pole had to declare his love for Yi Chen in front of everybody through poetry. If it was singing then it would have been better. Poetry? Nope... he was bad at it.

That was indeed a sight to see. Even Zi Han whose door had finally been opened after clearing everything heard that impromptu poem and sympathised with him.

“You do realise you guys will make him run away, right?” said Zi Han and Zi Xingxi said,

“He endured the Republic so he can endure a poem.”

Zi Han, “...”

Well, she was right. Yi Chen could endure it. He endured it until Zi Feiji couldn’t endure it anymore.

“Alright alright... that’s enough. You can go and get your man,” he said while patting Yi Chen’s shoulder.

Yi Chen thanked him before rushing upstairs skipping steps like he couldn’t wait. When he reached the top of the stairs he found his in-laws standing by the door.

He greeted them politely and Zi Xingxi urged him on. She seemed really happy and didn’t make it difficult for him at all. Yeoh Jun gave him a shoe box with Zi Han’s shoes which he was supposed to put on his groom’s feet.

He walked into the bedroom and that’s when Zi Xingxi broke down. Her eyes turned red and reality set in. Her sweet precious baby was leaving the nest.

Her emotions began to run rampant and the more she thought about it the more the thought of him not coming back took hold of her.

She couldn’t help but take a step forward when Yeoh Jun grasped her arm pulling her back. That’s when he saw her eyes were red.

It was fine if he didn’t mention it because the moment he did she lost it. She cried silently which terrified her husband so much. He had seen her cry but not this deep and sorrowful like she had lost something important.
