The Billionaire's Temptation: Love, Family and Revenge-Chapter 50: Where are you?
His fingers curled into a fist. "I’m calling the security team. This doesn’t feel right."
"Wait," Kelvin interrupted. "Let me try Lily’s number first. If hers doesn’t go through either, then we’ll know for sure that something is off."
Kelvin’s concern was just as deep as Ford’s, but his worry was more personal—Lily was his love. He couldn’t bear the thought of something happening to her.
Ford nodded, watching as Kelvin quickly dialed. His heart pounded in his chest, his nerves on edge.
Kelvin held his phone to his ear, waiting. Then, his face twisted in confusion. "Her line is busy."
Ford’s eyes widened. "Busy? Are you serious? At a time like this?" His voice rose in frustration. "Where is she? Why is her line busy when she should be calling us for help?"
Without wasting another second, Ford turned back to his phone and scrolled through his contacts, searching for the chief security officer’s number. He was done waiting—he needed answers.
Just as he was about to press the call button, his screen lit up.
"Lily’s calling," he announced.
Kelvin exhaled deeply, relief flickering across his face. A small, hopeful smile formed, but it didn’t last.
Ford wasted no time answering. "Lily?"
Her voice came through, but it was broken—filled with panic and tears. "P-please help... Elena... Elena is injured... she just collapsed."
Ford’s entire body stiffened. His grip on the phone tightened. "What?" His voice boomed, echoing through the parking lot. His pulse raced. His jaw clenched.
"Elena was injured? And now she had collapsed? Lily spoke admits tears.
Kelvin’s eyes darted toward Ford, worry replacing the brief relief he had felt. "What happened?" he asked, his voice urgent.
But Ford was too furious, too anxious to respond. His breathing grew heavier, his free hand curling into a tight fist.
Ford’s heart pounded as he stared at his phone screen. Lily’s voice still echoed in his ears.
"Something terrible has happened to Elena! She’s unconscious."
The words sent a chill down his spine. Without a second thought, he turned on his heel and stormed toward the hospital, his movements swift and determined. Kelvin followed closely behind, his face mirroring Ford’s urgency.
Ford immediately called Lily back. She picked up on the first ring.
"Where are you guys?" His voice was thick with fear and worry.
"Um...I can’t remember the..." Lily’s voice trailed off, and then—silence. The call had suddenly ended.
"Hello? Lily?" Ford called out in panic, pressing the phone harder against his ear. No response.
Frantically, he redialed her number, but this time, it didn’t go through. He stared at the screen in disbelief, frustration bubbling up inside him.
"Damn it! What the hell is going on today?" he cursed under his breath.
Kelvin, sensing his friend’s distress, stepped closer. "What’s wrong now?" he asked, his voice laced with concern.
"Her number just went off!" Ford snapped. "Where do we even start looking for them? This hospital is huge!" His fists clenched as anger and anxiety warred inside him.
Kelvin took a deep breath, trying to remain calm. "Listen, panicking won’t help. We need to think smart. There are hundreds of restrooms and over five hundred rooms in this hospital. Searching on our own would take too long. Let’s call in security. We need as many hands as possible."
Ford ran a hand over his face, rubbing his temple in frustration. He hated feeling powerless. But Kelvin was right—they couldn’t do this alone.
"That’s a good idea," he admitted, exhaling sharply. Without wasting another second, he pulled out his phone and dialed the Chief Security Officer’s number.
The phone barely rang for ten seconds before the officer picked up.
The phone rang only once before the Chief Security Officer answered.
"Good afternoon, sir," the man greeted nervously. His voice was low, filled with humility.
He could hardly believe what was happening—the CEO and Founder of the hospital, Ford Lugard was calling him directly. This had never happened before. Normally, any orders or errands came through an assistant or another supervisor, never from Ford himself. But today was different. The urgency in Ford’s voice made it clear that something serious was happening.
Ford didnt even wait to give a reply to his greeting his mind was somewhere else "I want every security personnel working under you to move inside immediately and search the entire building," Ford commanded, his tone sharp and unwavering. "You’re looking for two women. One is unconscious—my fiancée. The other is with her—my sister. You have ten minutes to find them. Am I understood?"
The Chief Security Officer straightened up, his hands gripping the phone tightly. "Yes, sir! Noted!, Sir do you have any idea where they might be?" The man managed to ask.
"I won’t need your help if I had any idea where they are! Do your job and don’t question me!" Ford thundered in anger and frustration.
"Sorry Sir. Understood Sir" he responded without hesitation.
Before he could say anything else, the call ended.
"Calm down, don’t worry we would find them. It’s just a matter of them okay" Kelvin tried calming his friend down.
Ford gritted his teeth in anger and frustration. A lot of thoughts ran through his mind. He just hoped that they wouldn’t be too late.
Meanwhile, Lily sat on the cold floor of the dimly lit hospital room, gripping her phone tightly. She had been trying to call Ford again, but her phone screen suddenly went black. Panic rose in her chest.
"This is bad," she whispered, her voice breaking.
Her phone had died at the worst possible moment. If only she had listened to Kelvin earlier that morning when he told her to charge it.
She glanced down at Elena, who lay unconscious in her arms. Lily held her tighter, gently stroking her best friend’s hair.
"Don’t worry, Elly," she murmured, forcing herself to stay strong. "They’ll find us. I trust my brother and my man. They won’t stop until they do."
But the waiting was agonizing. She knew Ford and Kelvin were searching for them by now, but without her phone, she had no way to reach them.
Then a thought struck her.
Elena’s phone!
Carefully, she laid Elena down on the floor, using her own handbag as a pillow to support her friend’s head. She knew she had to act fast.
Scanning the room, she searched for Elena’s bag. It wasn’t beside her, and a sinking feeling settled in her stomach.
Her eyes darted to the far corner of the room—and there it was.
Lily rushed over, her heart pounding. As she picked up the bag, she noticed it had been thrown far from where Elena lay. Her throat tightened.
Whoever did this to Elena must have kicked her bag aside deliberately.
Shaking her head, she focused on the task at hand. She fumbled with the zipper, praying that Elena’s phone still had battery life. If it did, she could call Ford and tell him exactly where they were.
She couldn’t afford to waste another second.
Lily reached for Elena’s bag, her hands trembling with urgency. She quickly unzipped it and searched inside, feeling around for Elena’s phone. But it was nowhere to be found.
Her heart sank. Frustration and sadness swirled inside her.
Had the person who attacked Elena stolen it?
The thought made her fists clench. What kind of idiot would take her phone? Surely, they knew it would be locked with a password. What could they even do with it? Sell it? Access Elena’s personal information? None of it made sense, and the idea of someone rummaging through Elena’s belongings after hurting her made Lily furious.
She hurried back to Elena, who still lay unconscious, her body weak and unmoving. Kneeling beside her, Lily gently shook her.
"Elena... Elena, where’s your phone?" she asked, her voice filled with desperation.
No response.
Deep down, Lily knew Elena wouldn’t answer, but the silence made her even more anxious.
She looked at her friend, her breathing shallow and her face getting paler by the minute. Fear clutched at Lily’s chest. How long had it been? How much longer did they have before things got worse?
She had to do something—anything—to help.
Then, a sudden thought struck her.
Her eyes darted toward the neatly stacked towels in the corner of the room. Wasting no time, she rushed over and grabbed one. She sprinted back to the sink, twisting the tap handle until cold water flowed freely. The sound of running water echoed in the empty room as she shoved the towel under the stream, soaking it completely.
She squeezed out the excess water with shaky hands, ready to rush back to Elena—
But then, something caught her eye.
She froze in her tracks.
Was that... a phone?
Lily turned swiftly, her gaze locking onto a phone sitting by the corner of the sink.
Her heart leaped.
A smile spread across her face, relief flooding through her.
She didn’t care whose phone it was—whether it belonged to Elena, someone else, or even the person who hurt her. Right now, all that mattered was that she had found a way to call for help.
She lunged forward, grabbing the phone with both hands, silently praying that it still had battery life.
Like a flash of lightning, Lily snatched up the phone. Her fingers pressed the power button desperately, her heart pounding with hope—
Nothing.
The screen remained black.
