The Billionaire's Temptation: Love, Family and Revenge-Chapter 51: Am here
"No, no, no... this can’t be happening!" she cried, her voice filled with frustration and panic.
Tears stung her eyes, but she had no time to waste. Dropping the dead phone back onto the counter, she grabbed the damp towel and rushed back to Elena.
Elena’s lips had turned an alarming shade of pale. Her face, once full of life, now looked weak and colorless.
"What’s happening to you, Elly?" Lily whispered, fear gripping her as she pressed a trembling hand to Elena’s forehead. The moment she touched her, she gasped.
"Oh my God, Elena—you’re burning up!"
Her skin was scorching hot.
Lily’s heart clenched. This wasn’t just from the injuries—Elena was running a dangerously high fever.
Thinking fast, she dabbed the cold towel against Elena’s forehead and hands, trying to cool her down. But within seconds, the towel lost its coolness, turning warm from Elena’s rising temperature.
Panic fueled her movements as she dashed back to the sink, soaking the towel in cold water again. She squeezed out the excess and rushed back, pressing it gently against Elena’s skin once more.
Determined to help however she could, Lily carefully lifted Elena, supporting her fragile body with her arms. With delicate hands, she unzipped her dress, pulling it down slightly to expose her back.
As she pressed the cold towel against her friend’s burning skin, something caught her eye—
A dark patch.
Lily’s breath hitched.
Beside Elena’s ribs, an ugly, deep bruise had spread across her skin.
"Oh my..." she murmured, eyes wide with horror.
The sight of it made her stomach turn. Someone had hit Elena—hard.
A fresh wave of tears welled in Lily’s eyes as she gently dabbed around the bruise, careful not to press too hard.
"Elly, I know you’re in so much pain," she whispered, her voice breaking. "Please just hold on. Help is coming, okay?"
She didn’t know if Elena could hear her, but she kept speaking, hoping her words would reach her unconscious friend.
Meanwhile, the entire hospital was in chaos.
Security teams stormed every floor, their footsteps echoing through the hallways. Every room, every corridor, and every restroom was being searched.
Patients peered out of their rooms, whispering among themselves. Nurses and doctors exchanged puzzled glances, wondering what was going on. But no one questioned it.
Doctor Charles, having already received urgent orders from Ford, had taken charge. He instructed all medical personnel to step aside and allow security to do their job.
An announcement blared through the hospital speakers.
"Attention all staff and visitors: Two missing women are being searched for. If you have any information, report immediately."
The search had begun.
Lily’s heart leaped the moment she heard the announcement echo through the hospital.
"They’re searching for us," she whispered, a hopeful smile breaking through her exhaustion.
Relief flooded her chest. Ford and Kelvin hadn’t given up—they were close. Help was finally coming.
But then doubt crept in.
Should she leave Elena for a moment to try and call out for help?
She glanced down at her unconscious friend, her pale face still unnervingly motionless. The thought of leaving her, even for a second, sent fear coursing through Lily’s veins. What if something happened in the short time she was gone? What if Elena’s condition worsened?
No, she couldn’t risk it.
Just as she made up her mind to stay put, the door creaked open.
Lily gasped, her body tensing.
A man stepped inside.
Her eyes darted to his uniform, quickly scanning his appearance. He was dressed in a security officer’s uniform, his stance formal yet non-threatening.
"Good day, ma’am," the man said, his voice respectful and calm. "Are you the lady we’ve been searching for?"
Lily felt an overwhelming rush of emotions—relief, gratitude, and urgency all at once.
"Yes! Yes, it’s me!" she exclaimed. "My name is Lily, and this is Elena—my friend. She’s unconscious, and she needs help. Please, tell my brother you found us! Hurry!"
As she spoke, she quickly pulled Elena’s dress back up, ensuring her friend was covered.
The officer nodded, immediately raising his radio to his mouth.
"They have been found," he announced, his voice clear and precise. "I repeat, they have been found! Ground floor. Female restroom. East wing. Near the back door—fourteenth restroom."
His voice echoed through the security system, carrying across the hospital halls.
Lily let out a shaky breath.
They were no longer alone. Help was truly coming.
Ford’s eyes widened in surprise as he listened to the security guard’s report. Without wasting another second, he and Kelvin dashed toward the restroom the man had described.
Ford ran as fast as his legs could carry him, his speed defying the weakness he had felt just hours ago while lying sick in bed. Kelvin couldn’t help but marvel—was this really the same friend who had been too ill to move earlier? But he knew the answer. It was all because of Elena. In just a few months, she had completely captured Ford’s heart, and now, nothing else mattered to him but her.
When they reached the restroom, Ford didn’t hesitate. He pushed the door open and rushed inside, his heart pounding. The scene before him was like something out of a nightmare.
Elena lay motionless on the cold floor, her skin as pale as freshly fallen snow. Lily knelt beside her, drenched in sweat, her expression one of sheer panic. The security guard stood nearby, his face grim.
Ford’s breath caught in his throat. "Lily!" he called out, his voice breaking with emotion.
Lily turned her head slowly, her tear-filled eyes meeting her brother’s. The moment she saw him, fresh sobs wracked her body. She had been holding back her fear, trying to be strong, but now, with Ford there, the weight of the situation crushed her completely.
Ford ran straight to her, wrapping his arms tightly around his sister. "It’s alright, I’m here now," he whispered, his voice trembling.
As she clung to him, her eyes met Kelvin’s. A soft, almost invisible smile crossed her lips. "Are you alright?" he murmured, his voice so faint that only Lily could hear.
"Yes I am" she replied with a smile.
Kelvin, who had been standing frozen with worry, swallowed hard. "I love you," he whispered to her, for a moment he was so scared something had happened to her. Seeing her face him back his peace.
"I love you too" she whispered back.
But Ford’s attention was solely on Elena. His chest tightened as he knelt beside her, taking in the severity of her condition. She looked so fragile, so lifeless. His fingers trembled as he gently brushed her hair away from her face.
"Oh my God, Elena," he breathed, his voice filled with pain. "Baby, can you hear me?"
She didn’t respond. A lump formed in his throat as he leaned in, pressing a tender kiss to her forehead.
Kelvin moved closer, his hands clenched into fists. "We need to get her help. Now."
The urgency in his voice snapped Ford out of his daze. He nodded, gathering Elena carefully in his arms.
The moment Ford saw blood trickling from Elena’s nose, his heart nearly stopped.
"Oh my!" he gasped, his voice filled with shock.
His eyes darted down to her clothes, and that was when he truly noticed the deep red stains. Blood. It wasn’t just a small wound—something was seriously wrong. His pulse quickened with fear.
Before he could even process his next move, the door swung open, and Dr. Charles rushed in. His face was tense, his eyes immediately locking onto Elena’s pale, unmoving form.
"Is she alright?" Ford asked, his voice shaking.
Dr. Charles didn’t answer right away. He took one look at Elena and his expression darkened. His movements became rushed as he quickly examined her condition.
"Sir Ford, we need to move her to the ICU immediately," the doctor said, his tone filled with urgency. "Her condition is critical—there’s no time to waste."
Ford felt a sharp pang of regret. He had been so overwhelmed by fear and emotion that he hadn’t thought logically. He should have rushed her to the ICU the second he saw her like this. How could he have hesitated?
His hands clenched into fists as he turned to Dr. Charles. "Then do whatever you have to do—just make sure she’s alright!" His voice was thick with desperation.
Dr. Charles nodded and immediately turned to the nurse who had followed him.
"Bring in a stretcher!" he ordered.
The nurse hesitated for a second, but Ford wasn’t willing to wait.
"There’s no time," he snapped, his voice rising. "We’ve already delayed enough!"
Without another word, he bent down and carefully but swiftly lifted Elena into his arms. She felt so light, so fragile, as if she could break at any moment. His heart pounded in his chest as he held her close, ignoring the blood seeping onto his shirt.
Kelvin and Lily stood frozen, watching in silence. Lily’s hands were clenched tightly together, and her tear-streaked face was filled with fear.
Without another second’s hesitation, Ford turned and rushed out of the room, heading straight for the ICU.
"Hang in there, baby," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. "I won’t let anything happen to you."
His legs moved on instinct, faster than ever before. Every second felt like an eternity, every heartbeat a reminder that she was slipping away.
Dr. Charles and the nurse hurried behind him, already preparing for what was to come.
