The Billionaire's Temptation: Love, Family and Revenge-Chapter 66: The Wired guy
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Daniel approached with mixed emotions. He anticipated the worst after what he had done the previous night. A small, confident smile played on his lips as he walked toward Elena’s room.
He hadn’t wanted to go to such lengths, but he also didn’t regret it. He wanted a fresh start with her. The mere thought of his boss being with Elena made his stomach turn. It infuriated him.
The only way he could have her was if she never discovered the truth about who he really was. He needed time—to move slowly, to win her heart. He couldn’t wait to have her back in his life, where she belonged.
Reaching her door, he knocked lightly. No response. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
His smile widened. Perfect timing.
Slowly, he pushed the door open, stepping inside. His gaze immediately fell on Elena’s still, peaceful frame. She lay quietly on the hospital bed, looking as innocent and delicate as ever.
For the first time in a long while, he was this close to her. His heart raced as he took in her beauty—her soft features, her gentle breathing.
"Still as beautiful and sweet as ever," he murmured to himself, his eyes drinking in the sight of her.
A deep sense of satisfaction filled him. Soon, she would be his again.
Daniel ached to touch her. His heart pounded in his chest as he looked around, making sure no one else was in the room. The opportunity was perfect. Slowly, he reached for her delicate hand, his fingers trembling slightly as he lifted it into his own.
"Finally," he whispered, his voice barely audible.
Bringing her hand to his lips, he placed a soft kiss on her skin before gently lowering it back onto the bed. His eyes roamed over her peaceful face, taking in every detail—her soft lashes, the curve of her lips, the slow rise and fall of her chest as she breathed.
Unable to resist, he reached out again, this time running his fingers through her silky hair. He combed it back gently, as if cherishing the moment.
He had done this before—just the night before, in fact—but that time, another man had been close to her, watching over her. Now, things were different. Now, he was alone with her.
"Have they found out that she’s lost her memory?" he wondered to himself.
It didn’t matter. Whether they had or not, this was his chance to start fresh with her. A new beginning, just as he had wanted.
Still smoothing her hair back, he was lost in thought when a sharp voice snapped him out of his trance.
"Who the hell are you, and what are you doing here?!"
Daniel’s hands jerked away from Elena’s hair as he turned toward the door, his heart racing. Standing there was Lily, her eyes narrowed with suspicion.
"Who gave you permission to come in here, let alone touch her?" she demanded, stepping into the room.
For a moment, Daniel was frozen. He had been too caught up in the moment to notice anyone approaching. Quickly composing himself, he put on his best polite smile.
"Oh, sorry, ma’am," he said smoothly. "Something was in her hair, and I couldn’t find you, so I thought I’d help."
Lily’s eyes bore into him, skepticism evident on her face. His explanation didn’t sit right with her.
"And you still haven’t told me who you are," she pointed out, her voice firm.
Daniel exhaled as if just realizing his mistake. "Apologies, ma’am. My manners," he said with a small chuckle. "I’m Daniel, Sir Ford’s personal assistant."
He smiled warmly, hoping that would be enough to ease her doubts.
Lily folded her arms across her chest, her expression unreadable. Something about him felt... off. She couldn’t place it, but she felt like she had seen him before.
"Hmm," she hummed, not convinced. "If you say so. But please, don’t go near her again. And just so you know, Sir Ford isn’t around."
Daniel nodded quickly, feigning remorse. "Of course, ma’am. I completely understand. I won’t go near her again," he assured her.
He stepped back, giving her space as she entered the room with a bucket of warm water and a towel.
Lily still felt uneasy, but she pushed the feeling aside as she prepared to clean Elena up. She soaked the towel into the warm water, but just as she was about to begin, she sensed he had not left.
Turning her head slightly, she caught sight of Daniel. He was still in the room, standing there, staring at Elena—completely lost in thought, his eyes fixed on her with an intensity that sent shivers down Lily’s spine.
She clenched her jaw, irritation bubbling within her.
"Excuse me, sir," she said sharply, making sure to emphasize her words. "You can’t be here."
Her tone serious and impatient.
"Oh, sorry Miss. I’ll leave now. I’ll be outside waiting for my boss," the man said, forcing a smile. But it was clear that the smile didn’t reach his eyes—it looked fake. There was something odd about him.
Lily watched him carefully as he left the room. She didn’t want to take any chances. Something about him felt off, and she didn’t want to let her guard down. Once he stepped out, she walked over to the window to make sure he was actually gone.
She looked through the curtain cautiously, watching his figure as he moved away. Once she confirmed that he wasn’t hanging around the corner or pretending to leave, she pulled the curtain shut with a sigh.
"Such a weird man," she muttered under her breath, shaking her head. There was a strange energy about him that she couldn’t quite explain. Still, she knew her priority was taking care of Elena, and she couldn’t afford to get distracted by her own suspicions.
Lily returned to where Elena lay unconscious on the bed. She took the towel again, dipped it into the basin of water beside her, and wrung it out gently. Then, with great care, she continued to clean Elena’s face. Her movements were slow and gentle, making sure not to cause any discomfort. After finishing with Elena’s face, she moved on to cleaning her arms and then her legs. Her skin was pale and cold, and Lily couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of worry.
Meanwhile, Daniel paced the hallway outside, his expression filled with frustration. His brows were furrowed, and his steps were sharp and angry. He was clearly upset, but what made him angrier was that he couldn’t do anything about the situation—at least, not yet. What he truly wanted was more time with Elena. He wanted to be close to her, to touch her, to speak to her without being interrupted. But he had been forced to leave too soon, and it made him restless.
What bothered Daniel more than anything else was the uncertainty. He couldn’t stop thinking about the drug he had used on her. Was it working? Would it erase her memory the way he hoped? If Elena woke up and remembered everything—especially him—it would be a disaster. His entire plan would fall apart.
He knew that if she woke up and recognized him, it would create problems he wasn’t ready to face. That fear kept eating at him, growing worse with every passing minute.
Daniel checked the time again, glancing at the clock on the wall. Deep down, he knew that his boss wasn’t expecting to see him. In fact, Ford had specifically told him to stay in the office and make sure things were going smoothly. If Ford saw him wandering around, especially near Elena, it could mean serious trouble.
So for now, all Daniel could do was wait—wait and hope that when Elena woke up, things would go the way he planned.
In a hurry, he rushed out of the hospital building, his steps quick and full of purpose. The automatic doors slid open as he walked briskly toward the parking lot. The cool evening breeze brushed against his face, but he barely noticed it. His mind was racing, his heart still pounding from the encounter he had just experienced. Without wasting another second, he reached his car, unlocked it with a press of a button, and slid into the driver’s seat.
As he sat inside, he closed his eyes for a brief moment and took a deep breath. A smile slowly formed on his lips. The car still carried her scent—soft, floral, and familiar. It was Elena’s scent. That alone was enough to bring back a flood of memories. "Elena... you’re mine," he whispered to himself, the smile growing wider. "And I’m going to get you back... even if it means losing this job." His voice was confident, almost daring, like he had already made up his mind.
He adjusted his tie using the small rearview mirror, fixing his appearance. He was just about to start the engine and drive off when his phone began to ring. The sound pierced the quiet interior of the car. Glancing at the screen, he noticed the caller ID and smirked.
"So, she finally reached out," he murmured, staring at the phone without answering it. The name on the screen read "Miss Jane." He let it ring and ignored it. The phone rang again. Still, he refused to answer. The third time it rang, he sighed and finally picked up.
"Well, well, Miss Jane," he said, his tone laced with mockery. "I wasn’t expecting your call, especially after what happened the other day."
On the other end of the line, Jane’s voice came through, quiet but tense. "Let’s meet up," she said, her tone a mix of urgency and fear. She wasn’t sure who was after her, or just how dangerous he might be, but she needed to see him face-to-face. Her plan was simple: pay him to keep quiet and maybe get a better sense of who she was dealing with.
He chuckled softly, clearly amused. "Hmm... I doubt that would be possible. But I’ll get back to you on that," he replied, teasing. "Miss Jane, you are quite something." He laughed again, clearly enjoying the situation. Then he ended the call without waiting for her response.
Still smiling, he clicked his tongue against his teeth, thinking deeply. He stared ahead through the windshield, then suddenly, a thought hit him. His eyes lit up with excitement, and he chuckled to himself. Without hesitation, he called Jane back. The phone barely rang before she picked up.
"You sure are fast, Miss Jane," he said smoothly. "Anyway, meet me at the Golden Blue Restaurant by eight tonight," he instructed firmly, his voice leaving no room for argument.
He ended the call, a smirk on his face, already thinking ahead to the meeting.
