The Broken Angel & Her Overprotective Brothers-Chapter 329: The Flustered Siblings
"Can someone remind me why Daniel has to go personally to pick up his girlfriend and her daughter? He should be here doing all this work while I would have happily offered to pick up my possible future sister-in-law and future niece." Crist grumbled unhappily as he tried his very best to peel the potatoes that Emily just handed him.
"Can’t you just shut up? Your constant complaints are making me sick." Mark reprimanded from his seat at the dining table where he was busy helping Leo in sorting out the fresh flowers for the vase sitting in the center of the dining table.
Domenic and Emily shared a quick look before they both returned their attention to their works. Since Daniel wasn’t there to help them, the duo had taken the charge to prepare the breakfast and they made the rest of their siblings help them with the work.
There were sounds of footsteps heading toward the kitchen and a couple of moments later, Shadow and Simon entered the area and took their seats around the dining table. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"The housekeeping staff has already finished their work and except for the chosen few, they all have left," Simon informed Domenic who just nodded his head in response. The housekeeping staff was mostly responsible for taking care of the mansion and the grounds around it and they had fixed working hours as none of the siblings really liked having too many people around except for each other.
There were only a couple of old staff members that were permitted to enter and exit the mansion of their own will as these were those few that were more like a family to the Alessandro siblings at this point.
"Simon, can you help me with the waffles? I think the chocolate chip cookies are almost ready, I should take a look at them." Emily called for Simon’s help and her brother was immediately there taking over the job as she headed to make sure that her cookies were safer and sound.
Just these cookies were a huge proof of how far Emily had come from the very first day she arrived at the Alessandro mansion. Back then, she hated the mere sight of anything sweet, even if it was orange juice, and now, here she was. Now, not only she loved eating sweet things, she had even learned to bake cakes and cookies and pastries. She really had come a long way.
"Can I taste them?" Leo asked with hopeful eyes as he appeared in front of the counter as soon as he noticed her taking out the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies from the microwave.
"Only if you can make me a cup of coffee," Emily responded with a sweet and innocent smile which gifted her an eye roll from Leo who immediately left to prepare coffee for her.
Her gaze landed on Shadow who was suddenly standing in Leo’s place with his amber eyes fixed on the cookies on the tray. But instead of requesting for a taste like Simon did, he just remained standing there while staring at them.
"Wanna taste?" Emily asked softly to make sure that no one else was listening to her while her gaze hurriedly shift around the area to make sure that everyone was busy with their work.
Before Shadow could have answered, she picked up a cookie and stuck it in his partly opened mouth before signaling to him to not make any noise in order to hide what she ahd just done from her brothers, especially Leo.
Shadow hurriedly finished the cookie which was definitely burning hot before he grabbed a glass of water and left her side right before Leo returned with a cup of coffee. Emily accepted the coffee and handed him a cookie.
The next hour hurriedly passed and it was finally the time for the arrival of their guests. All the siblings were done preparing breakfast and had gotten ready to welcome their guests.
"I’m not sure why but I’m feeling kinda nervous," Leo muttered as he stood between Simon and Mark with his hands fumbling with the bouquet that he was holding.
"I second that," Crist added as he kept his gaze fixed on the entrance as if Annika and Clairy were about to enter the very next second.
"Why are we even standing here like this? The situation just doesn’t seem right at all." Mark added as his eyes roamed over every single one of them as they all stood near the e trance in a line.
"He’s kinda right. If they would see us like this, there are chances they would feel uncomfortable, right?" Emily added as she looked at Domenic for help.
The eldest Alessandro let out a deep sigh as he responded, "Look, I’m just as clueless as you all. This is also my first time in such kind of situation and I have no prior experience. Don’t expect me to be of any help."
The sighs of disappointment from the siblings were too loud for Domenic’s comfort but he managed to accept defeat and not say anything. Thankfully, someone finally came to their rescue.
"How about some of you return to your rooms until the guests arrive while some of you can sit in the living room, or the garden, or maybe in the kitchen to wait for the guests? Though it’s respectful to receive the guests at the entrance, it can really be stressful for them to see so many people as soon as they would enter."
Shadow barely finished making his suggestion and almost everyone was nodding their heads in agreement.
"Then let me and Mark return to our rooms. We will come down after the guests will settle down for a few minutes in the house." Simon suggested and even before anyone would have something, the two of them were already heading upstairs.
"Then I’m going to wait in the living room. I can catch up with some news in the meantime." Domenic announced and disappeared.
Crist and Leo headed to the kitchen while Shadow pulled Emily to follow him into the garden to wait for the guests.
